10. Definition
Bandage is a strip of cloth or material
used to cover a wound, hold a dressing in
place, immobilise an injured part (sprain)
or apply pressure.

2.5 cm x 5.5 m : finger / head
5.0 cm x 5.5 m : hand
7.5 cm x 5.5 m : hand
10 cm x : hand/leg
15 cm x : leg
14. Purpose of bandages
To apply pressure to prevent/control
hemorrhage
To prevent or reduce swelling
To prevent contamination of wound by holding
dressing in position
To mold a stump for preparation of prosthesis
To secures a splint to an injured part of the
body

16. Principle of bandaging
Choice the appropriate size.
Sit opposite with patient.
Use the dominan hand to hold the bandage.
Hold the expose part.
Start the bandaging with 2 circular.
Start the bandaging with distal to proksimal.
Cover 2/3 and exposed 1/3 of layer or cover ½ and exposed ½ layer
Do the bandaging not to tight and not to loose.
Start the bandaging with the outer layer touch the skin.
Start the bandage from inner to ourter part.
Exposed the extremities
End the bandaging with 2 layer and secure with plaster.
