Why new learning spaces?
1. Why new learning spaces? Supporting the University’s Strategic Theme of Enhancing the Student Learning Experience New 4 year Curriculum and Common Core pursuit of academic/professional excellence, critical intellectual enquiry and lifelong learning; tackling novel situations and ill-defined problems; communication and collaboration; (inter)disciplinary inquiry, multidisciplinary collaboration; enquiry in multiple contexts; multiple forms of learning & assessment; working in teams, etc.

Collection evolution – print to digital Changing student preferences and learning styles Increased use of technology in learning Blending of formal and informal activities Emphasis on flexibility Changing role and position of the library in the academy Library as a venue for a multiplicity of activities, learning, teaching, meeting, socializing Trend away from “operations” driven design to a user-centred approach.
