1. WELCOME TO RIO DE JANEIRO

6. CARIOCA CULTURE
• Traditionally, most associated musical style to the state of Rio de Janeiro's samba. It
is this style of music that accompanies the road blocks and the parade of samba
schools during the carnival. It has however highlighted recently won another musical
style, funk, which has festivals of great popular appeal dances calls, led by MCs and
DJs, often with strong connotation of apology to crime [1]. Another popular style of
music in the state and also influenced by black culture is the charm. But this, unlike
funk, favors romantic and well-behaved letters. Another closely associated musical
style to Rio de Janeiro is the bossa nova [2], which led to the appointment of the
international airport of Rio de Janeiro as Tom Jobim Airport, named after the famous
composer of bossa nova Antonio Carlos Jobim [3] . The Conservatory district in Rio
de Janeiro municipality of Valencia, is considered the national capital of serenades.

the biggest clubs in the country: Clube de Regatas do Flamengo, the Club de
Regatas Vasco da Gama, Botafogo de Futebol e Regatas and Fluminense Football
Club. They are also popular in the state jiu-jitsu, the surf, the paddle (sport invented in
the city of Rio de Janeiro, in Copacabana, in the 1950s), skateboarding, running,
cycling, walking, weight training , swimming, mountaineering, rowing, capoeira,
volleyball, beach volleyball to the sand soccer, foot volleyball and gymnastics located.
