My freshman online program (ECSU)

Online Academics/Orientation Program

2. Who Must Participate?
All freshmen, transfers, and student-athletes
with a 2.5 grade point average or below
must participate in the student-athlete online
class.
To successfully complete the class first year
students must complete 5 study hall hours
per week and 10 class assignments by the
end of the semester.

3. Who Must
Participate?
Upper classmen with below 2.5 GPA
must attend study hall for the full
5 hours and complete 3
assignments.

4. Why?
The major objectives of the class are to
assist in the adaptation of new student
athletes into the college environment while
providing academic resources, introduce
students to campus resources, and create a
supportive learning environment.

5. Study Hall Hours
All first year student
athletes at Eastern will be
required to attend monitored
study hall sessions for five
hours per week. Study hall
hours will be conducted in
the Webb computer lab.

6. Study Hall Hours
Incoming freshmen & transfers with
outstanding academic credentials can submit
a request to be exempt from study hall
hours if their coach approves, but all
freshmen & transfers must complete all 10
assignments.

7. Study Hall Hours
Student athletes will be able to obtain Study
Hall Hours Sunday through Thursday in the
evenings 6 p.m. until 10 p.m., Sundays 2-10
p.m. Mornings are available if requested in
writing and approved they the head coach.
No study hall credit in the library can be
granted because they cannot be successfully
monitored.

8. Assignment Due Dates
Four assignments finished
by October 23rd
Seven assignments finished
by November 20th
All Ten assignments finished
by December 17th
All Assignments are Pass/
Fail

10. Expectations
Student athletes will log-in WebCt to receive
and complete ten weekly assignments by the
end of the fall semester
Attend a monitored study hall at least five
hours per week
Check their university email account
frequently
Complete assignments by their due date.

11. IMPORTANT!!
Any Student-Athlete NOT
completing their hours AND
Assignments by the end of the
semester will repeat the course
until they do.
Your GPA will NOT matter.

Development Website
The Office of Student Athlete Development
website will supplement information provided
by the first year online class, and allow
upperclassmen access to educational
resources and departmental policies.
Examples of information provided are the
student athlete handbook, university forms,
and the policy on academic misconduct.
