2. 🔰 WHAT IS IELTS?
IELTS is the abbreviation of international English
language testing system, designated to asses the
english language ability of people who intend to
study or work where english language is the mode
of communication.
Total test time 2hrs and 45minutes excluding
brakes.
Candidates are tested in listening, reading, writing
and speaking
NB: listening, reading and writing must be
completed in one day without break
-speaking can be completed within 7days before
or after main test day
3. 🔰 INTRODUCTION TO IELTS
LISTENING
The listening material is recorded on a cassette tape which you
will hear only once
🔰 a range of English accent are used
🔰 at the end ,the candidate will be given 10minutes to copy
the answers onto the answer sheet
🔰 spelling is important can both be British and American
spelling
🔰 The answer sheet has two sides
-one for listening test
-one for reading test
🔰 when count words prepositions( in, of ,to, at etc) and
Articles (a ,an , the)do counts as words
🔰 each question is worth one mark
-problem(getting lost)
-solution (read ahead)
4. 🔰 TEST FORMAT AND BANDS
If you are going to write any kind of test you should know the
test format before the actual preparation starts because
unless and until know the test format can’t finish it on time.
So before going to make IELTS test you have to be familiar
with test format to score high

LISTENING TEST
• If you can’t hear the audio clearly, let a member of staff know straightaway
• Follow the instructions carefully, they may be different to practice or previous tests
• Listen for the specific information you want
• Be careful with your spelling and grammar
• Do not panic if you think the topic is too difficult or the speaker is too fast; relax and tune in
• Read, write and listen at the same time
• Pay attention to the words limit
• Attempt all questions; there is no penalty for incorrect answers
