The goal of this four day workshop was to introduce visual communication and multimedia design students to methods used within interaction design to combine hardware, electronics and physical materials into working prototypes. This workshop allowed students to investigate a series of tools and methodologies to handcraft sensors and paper-textile based circuits. Students were also an introduced to open source tools such as Arduino and Makey Makey. Furthermore, they experimented with electronic activated inks to generate displays that are both decorative and functional. The workshop emphasized craftsmanship, usability, aesthetic value, and provide basic physical computing insight through material exploration.
This workshop is leading by Paola Guimerans & organized by Rita Saad at the American University of Sharjah - College of Architecture, Art and Design.
