1. Audience Research Analysis
In this document I will analyse the answers given to me about my questionnaire
to the best of my ability. I will explain why I’ve chosen to use those questions.
Q1 - What is your age Range?
I chose this question to understand the majority of the peoples ages that have the
potential to see the music video and to see if their age relates to any later
answers.
I asked them what age range they where and they had the options of 16-18, 19-
21, 22-24 & 24+

Q2 – What is your gender?
I chose this question to also see if it will cause any trends or if it will allow me to
notice any trends in the answers, e.g. females dislike rock and like pop
I gave them the options Male, Female and Other. I put in the “Other” option in
case the user did not wish to divulge that information.

Q3 – Do you listen to music?
I asked if they did listen to music to make sure how many people actually listen
to music. I gave them two choices, Yes and No. Every reply was “Yes”
2. Q4 – How often do you listen to music?
With this question I wanted to know how often people listened to music and I
used this question to see if there was a trend between favourite music genre and
how long they listen to music. With this question I let the user type their own
answers so there was no choices to limit them.
The answers I got was:
4 people - Every day
1 person - Daily
1 person - Fairly often, usually when I'm walking about.
1 person - 4 hours a day
1 person - quite often but not as a primary thing around 6+ hours a day
1 person - When things are too quiet for my liking
1 person - All most every day
Q5 – What is your favourite genre?
I used this to see what my responders where into. I gave them the options of
many genres I could think of but if theirs wasn’t on the list I also included an
“Other” box.

Q6 – Why don’t you listen to music?
This question was supposed appear when if they chose the “No” option on the
“Do you listen to music?” question. Except I messed up and it appeared for
everyone no matter the option. The responses I got was “I do” and one saying “To
makes moments for lively”, to which I don’t understand.
Q7 – What do you think about Rock music?
3. This question was used so I could know what my responders thought about
when it came to rock music. This means that all their answers where typed by
themselves meaning that their answers are all different.
These are their answers:
It's good. Because like, it's good to listen to while walking, or doing stuff.
I like some of the sub-genres
I think it's great
It's pretty cool.
It's meaningful, people can relate to the lyrics.
I don't particularly like it however I don't have anything against it. I just
don't find the music videos, narrative, music etc.. Entertaining
It's decent
It isn't really my type of genre apart form certain artists such as Pink
Floyd
Okay - sometimes too depressing or slow. I like upbeat music.
I think rock music is emotional;
It shows often human emotion and turmoil.
Q8 - Have you ever heard of Avenged Sevenfold?
This is whom my song is by so I felt that it was 100% necessary to ask this
question so I could know if they were well heard of.
I again gave them the option of “Yes” and “No” and everyone chose “Yes”.
Q9 - What do you think of the band? If no then what do you think they do?
This question was meant to be “If not then what do you think they do?” so I think
that part may have been lost on the responders but this question was to find out
what they though of Avenged Sevenfold so I know the range of feelings people
have on them.
These are the answers:
I've only heard some of their stuff. But what I've heard is good.
I like some of their songs, used to be a fan but don't really listen to them
anymore
They're shit
They're pretty cool. Haven't heard a whole lot of their songs
They are religious; they use that in there music.
I've heard of them, hearing one of their songs is another story though.
They're shit
Over the top aggressive rock music
Borderline heavy metal I think :)
Their music often has a dark shadow behind their songs; a deeper
meaning
The answers I got from the responders where more ranged than what I expected
them to be, I also know that if I asked more questions I would of got a lot of
4. better response data to use, especially if I asked more about the band and/or my
song in general.
I checked for a trend with the females, to see if there was anything they shared in
common. All the answers were different, their favourite genres where different
from each other. Their answers were Rock, Indie, metal and Alternative. They all
say that it is good in one way or another; one said that they prefer some of the
rock sub genres but never specified one.
