Conducting a Science Experiment using The Scientific Method

Comparison of problem solving and the scientific method: SCIENTIFIC METHOD: PROBLEM SOLVING:	 Ask a question: In choosing your experiment, what do you want to know or find out?   Do background research: Once you have chose what you want to test, you must look up information to decide how you will form your experiment. Define and identify a problem: In choosing your experiment look for something unsolved and ask yourself, can I do research on this and solve this problem? Analyze the problem, identify possible solutions and develop an action plan: In your experiment you research your topic and think of possible ways of finding the solution, then you form your “action plan” in this case- your experiment.
Comparison continued.. SCIENTIFIC METHOD: PROBLEM SOLVING: Form hypothesis: You will ask the question of what you are trying to test, or what you want to invent. Test hypothesis: You will set up your experiment and record data. Analyze data and draw conclusion: Gather your data and form the solution to the question or problem. Inventors prove your invention works and is important. Implement the solution: In your experiment you will test the solutions and find which is the best solution. Once you have your results and data recorded, you will show evidence of your results in a lab report and science board presentation.

By using this application your data’s accuracy is enhanced.

A spreadsheet is a great way to combine your experiment’s data in an organized and eye catching way. The more neat and accurate your data is for people to view, the higher you will score.
