ISDA – 95 : Informatics Blueprint for Sustainable Agricultural Development 3 Digital Networks for Farmers (DNF) – 3 to 6 Per cent of the Agricultural Budget to be allocated for ICT in Agricultural sector AGRISNET - an Infrastructure network up to block level agricultural offices facilitating agricultural extension services and agribusiness activities to usher in rural prosperity AGMARKNET with a road map to network Agricultural produce wholesale markets and rural markets; ARISNET - Agricultural Research Information System Network; SeedNet - Seed Informatics Network; CoopNet - to network Agricultural Primary Credit Societies (PACS) and Agricultural Cooperative Marketing Societies to usher in ICT enabled services and rural transformation; HORTNET - Horticultural Informatics Network; FERTNET - Fertilisers (Chemical, Bio and Organic Manure) Informatics Network facilitating "Integrating Nutrient Management" at farm level; VISTARNET - Agricultural Extension Information System Network; PPIN - Plant Protection informatics Network APHNET - Animal production and Health Informatics Network networking about 42000 Animal Primary Health Centres; FISHNET - Fisheries Informatics Network; LISNET - Land Information System network linking all institutions involved in land and water management for agricultural productivity and production systems, which has now evolved as "Agricultural Resources Information system" project during the Tenth Plan being implemented through NIC. AFPINET - Agricultural & Food Processing Industries Informatics Network ARINET - Agricultural and Rural Industries Information System Network to strengthen Small , Micro & Medium Enterprises (SMEs) NDMNET- Natural Drought Management Knowledge Network in India WeatherNET- Weather Resource System Information Network of India - for Agromet Advisories

India is an Agrarian Economy – But there are no Agricultural Schools, No Agricultural Polytechnics and No Agricultural ITIs in Rural India ; However, there are about300 Agricultural Colleges, 52 Agricultural Universities, 95 Agricultural Research (ICAR) Institutions and 625 Farm Science Centres (FSCs) in India. 9

To protect the farmers interest, the minimum bidding price is being fixed in some AMCs, taking into consideration the Mode Price average for previous month or so; 2. State Department of Food and Civil supplies and Consumer affairs uses to control retail prices; 3. State Agriculture Department officials use to plan and fix targets for NFSM; 4. MBA (Agribusiness Mgt) Students at MANAGE, use for commodities trading; 5. Directorate of Oilseeds Development, Hyderabad use for preparing advisories to the Government for intervention; 6. National Seeds Corporation (NSC) uses to promote better HYV seeds; 13

RealCraft – A Project to strengthen Coastal Security in India National Database on Fishing Vessels (about 2 Lakhs) (Safety of about 1 Million Fishermen going to Sea for fishing) 14 • Initiated in the State of Kerala - Operational • Rolled out in all Coastal States (9) and UTs(4) by 31st Jan 2011 after 26/11 Mumbai Attack • Stakeholders - Navy, Coast Guards, Marine Police, Fisheries Authorities, Ministry of Home Affairs, etc. • Legal issues - Marine Shipping Act 1988 modified • Venturing Fishermen to get Boarding Pass (April 2011) through Bharat Nirman Common Services Centres; • Coast Guards uses Registration No. (Unique) in their National Automatic Identification System (NAIS) for Fishing Vessels. • Directorate of Lighthouses and Lightships uses Registration No. (Unique) in their National Automatic Identification System (NAIS) for Fishing Vessels. • To be linked with INCOIS Of MoES for oceanic Information Services. http://fishcraft.nic.in • Operational from 166 locations along the coastal line. • Coastal States : Gujarat, Maharashtra, Goa, Karnataka, Kerala, Tamilnadu, Andhra Pradesh, Odisha & West Bengal. • Coastal UTs : Daman & Diu, Lakshadweep, A&N Islands & Puducherry.
