The coordinates of the mid point M of the points (x1, y1) and (x2, y2) is given by the formula:
Mx = (x1+x2)/2
My = (y1+y2)/2.
Therefore the mid point of A (3, 2) and B(b ,-4) is given by:
0 = (Ax+By)/2 = (3+b)/2 ..(1)and a = (Ay+By)/2 = (2-4)/2....(2)
So from the first of the equation 3+b = 0 .
b= -3.
From the secod equation we get:
a = (2-4)/2 = -2.
Therefore a = -2 and b = -3..
