Evaluation Question 3 What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why?
Production Company Name And Logo The production company is then responsible for the physical production of our thriller. The Production company name is DDNJ. Its responsible for selling its products to a film studio. DDNJ stands for the first letter or our forenames in our group. Production Company responsible for raising the funding for the production of our thriller.
Role of production companies? responsible for physical production of the film. directly responsible for raising of funding for the production. selling its products to a film studio or presenting it at a theatrical venue.
Idea of a Film Distributor The idea of a film distributor is then either a company or individual who is responsible for the releasing of films to the public by either theatrically or for home viewing. A distributor then may do this directly or through theatrical exhibitors and other sub-distributors. Examples of distributors can then be such people as “Warner Bros. Pics” and Universal Studios.
Where the money might have come from for a film like ours? The money and finance would have come from the film production company's such as “DDNJ”. Our film is then produced by an independent film company who is owned by a global company such as “DDNJ”. Who would then deal with the financial backing for the film itself.
Who our film might be produced by? Our film “Blindsight”, would be produced by an Independent film company which would come under a production company where in this case would be “DDNJ” productions. An example of an independent film company would then be Film 4 which is a British film production company owned by Channel 4. The company has been responsible for backing a large number of films made in the United Kingdom. For example “Four Weddings And A Funeral”. Another example Similar to such film companies can be seen in “Working title” who at first where converged with “Polygram” but now come under “Universal Studios”, after “Polygram” sold 1999.
People named in the Titles? The titles then went in order of who was acting in the opening to “Blindsight”, then to who filmed it. The order of the titles in our opening to a thriller started with the production company in “DDNJ” films.
Then moving on in the titles to showing who directed the opening. Then adding who it was edited by to finish of the credits with.
Our Film is similar Institutionally? In some ways our Film “Blindsight” can be seen as similar institutionally to films such as “State Of Play”, directed by Kevin Macdonald. This then seen when we know “State of Play”, is a Working Title film that comes under Universal. This would then be similar to “Blindsight”, which is made by an independent film company that come under “DDNJ” production company.
Similar: As we can see from looking at both films they both can be seen to come under the same genre of film in thriller. As well as this we know they both contain this sense of mystery in the plots of the film where in the film “State of Play”, its about a team of investigative reporters work alongside a police detective to try to solve the murder of a congressman's mistress. While the Film “Blindsight”, is about a guy who has lost his tape and it has some value as the tape is then seen to be spotted and sold on.
