produces feature films for Heliopolis Entertainment. David Nicksay's latest
project is a Bruce Lee biopic titled Birth of the Dragon, which was released
in September of 2016.
The film details a private, but legendary Kung Fu showdown between Wong
Jack Man and Bruce Lee in 1964, well before Lee was a martial arts
superstar in North America. Lee is played in the film by Philip Ng, a 39-year-
old Hong Kong native and accomplished Hollywood fight choreographer. Ng
was raised in the United States since he was seven years old, but returned
to Hong Kong in 2003 and has since appeared in films such as Invisible
Target, Bodyguards & Assassins, and Once Upon a Time in Shanghai.
His extensive martial arts background made him an ideal choice to play the
iconic Lee. Ng is a sixth-generation practitioner of the Chinese martial art
Choy lay Kung Fu and an instructor of Ving Tsun Kung Fu. He has also
trained in Korean Taekwondo, boxing, Japanese Jujitsu, and Escrima. His
resume includes 30 acting credits and he has assisted with stunts on seven
films.
