Mission Sunday and Apologetics Press
On their website Apologetics Press gives their his-
tory as follows: โIn the late 1970s, there was a need to
make available more scripturally sound and scientifically
accurate materials in the field of Christian apologetics.
The idea for Apologetics Press was bornโan idea that
soon became a reality. The necessary legal steps then
were taken to allow the work to be recognized as non-
profit and tax-exempt by both State and Federal govern-
ments. In 1985, Apologetics Press moved into its own
custom-built, 11,000-square-foot building that was debt
free upon completion. Financial records are managed by
certified public accountants, who also submit to the ap-
propriate agencies all documentation required by State
and Federal law.โ
Dr. David Miller who serves as the Executive Direc-
tor, points out that โApologetics Press has existed for
over 36 years for the purpose of producing materials that
assist in waging the culture war that is upon us. We be-
gan with a primary emphasis on combating atheism,
skepticism, and evolution. This focus included demon-
strating the existence of God, the inspiration of the Bible,
the validity of the Bible account of Creation, and the fal-
sity and unscientific nature of atheism and evolution. As
atheism and evolution have taken their toll on American
civilization, our outreach has gradually expanded to in-
clude a host of additional subjects including the following:
Ethical issues facing our society (e.g., cloning, euthana-
sia, abortion, homosexuality, end-of-life decisions, etc.)
Dinosaursโthe icon of evolution; Design in the Universe;
The accurate transmission of the Bible; The reliability of
the Bible; The challenge of world religions like Islam;
Doctrinal confusion that exists within Christendom; The
assault on the Christian values and moral principles of
America that hark back to the founding of the country.โ
At the present time we are supporting Kyle Butt one
of the members of the writing staff at Apologetics Press.
Kyle Butt is a graduate of Freed-Hardeman University,
where he earned a B.A. with a double major in Bible and
Communication, an M.A. in New Testament Studies, and
a M.Div. with a concentration in Apologetics. He has au-
thored or co-authored 28 books and done numerous DVD
projects. He has been involved in 3 major debates with
unbelievers and speaks frequently around the world on
Christian Evidences. He has served in the Bible Depart-
ment at Apologetics Press for the last 17 years and is the
editor of the AP children's monthly publica-tion Discovery.
If we are going to be able to continue our support
for this and other good works we need to reach our goal
this year of $122,000 on Mission Sunday. If we want to
pick up support for other work we need to be able to give
even more. Please give serious consideration to what you
can give on this day, May 7, 2017, so that we may aid in
helping the work of Christ and His church to move for-
ward.
