Deerfoot Family,
Due to additional covid cases in our membership and families who are quarantined due
to direct contact, the elders have decided to suspend in person services until Sunday,
January 10th. The next in person Wednesday service will be January 13th.
The elders thought this was the most prudent course of action to keep our families as
safe as possible.
In the next few days look for information to reiterate and remind us on how to participate
in Deerfoot services via Facebook, YouTube and Zoom.
Thank you for your understanding.
The office will be open through the week. You may come by and pick up communion
supplies, drop off your contribution and your purpose card. You may also mail your check
and purpose card to the office or contribute online.
Remember:
We are still worshipping together with one heart, one mind, in Spirit and in Truth, just
from different locations.
Continue to pray for those impacted by this pandemic physically, emotionally and eco-
nomically.
God Bless. The Elders

A Note From the Harp
This is the season of giving gifts.
Maybe a perfect gift for this year is
giving a Bible. After all, the gift
that keeps on giving, is the word of
God! What kind of Bible should you give? There are a
lot of translations and paraphrases out there. My first
encouragement is to make sure you buy a real translation,
not a paraphrase (commentary) like The Message. Study
Bibles are good, as they give Bible, but add comments.
The only drawback is that you have to be sure to know
which part is inspired Bible and which is comment. For
instance, we have often said, “Where is the sinner’s
prayer? It’s not in the Bible.” Well, I purchased a Bible
once that had the sinner’s prayer printed in the back
(after Revelation). Just because someone says something
about the Bible doesn’t necessarily make it right. Also,
just because something is printed inside a Bible’s binding
does not make it accurate—only the inspired words are.
So, we have to be smart readers with Study Bibles. It’s
hard to improve on the old King James Bible. But, the
reading can be a little tough-going if the gift is for a
child, or someone new to the Bible. I like the New King
James Bible or the English Standard Version. The Chris-
tian Standard Bible Reader’s Bible is a blessing because
the chapters and verses are removed, great for simply
reading with your coffee. These are all good and reliable.
A new Bible that I find to be extremely helpful is the
Apologetics Press Defending the Faith Study Bible. The
notes are powerful and sound.
If you are wondering what to give that special someone
for Christmas? How about giving them the Word of
God?!
