1. Steps to change the Nic Adapter :
Method1:
1. Note the StaticIP settings.
2. Install the VMXNET3Adapter(donot connectit)
3. Loginto the serverand change the IP settingsof oldnetworkadapterto0.0.0.0.
4. In the newnetworkadapterputthe Static IPof the server.
5. Disconnectthe Oldadapterandconnect the new adapterviaVcenter.
If above stepsdoesn’tworkwe can go withbelow steps(thiswere the onesIhave usedinmy
previousproject)
1. Note all the IP settings.
2. Uninstall the CurrentNicfromwindowsthroughDevice Manager.
3. Poweroff VMif windows2003. From Windows2008 Onwardsno needtopoweroff.
4. Remove the oldnetworkadapter.
5. ConnectNewadapterandconfigure the IP’s.
If you did not firstuninstall the oldadapterfromWindowsthenyoucan still doitat thistime from
device manager.Youwill howeverhave toenable Windowstoshow nonpresentdevices.Ihave
foundthat youcan do thisfromDevice Manager inWindowsServer2012 withoutanyextrasettings,
but forolderWindowsversionsyoumightfirstneedtosetan environmentvariable:
set devmgr_show_nonpresent_devices=1
Thenstart Device Managerand fromthe View-menuselectShow hidden devices.Youcanthensee
and uninstall the oldadapter.
