2. Quantifers o some/any
 El plural del artículo indeterminado "a" o "an" es "some" o "any".
 "Some" y "any" significan algún, alguna, algunos, algunas. Pueden actuar modificando o determinando al
sustantivo o como pronombre.
 EJEMPLOS:
 Yet Turkey has made hardly any progress since the beginning of the negotiations.
 Pero Turquía apenas ha hecho progresos desde que se iniciaron las negociaciones.
 I can say to Mr Ebner that there have not been any proposals to this effect.
 Puedo decir al Sr. Ebner que no ha habido ninguna propuesta en este sentido.

3. Preposition place:
 Las preposiciones de lugar se colocan detrás del verbo principal, que suele ser el verbo "to be" (estar, ser) en
cualquiera de los tiempos pasados, presentes o futuros y en sus formas tanto simples como compuestas.
 Ejemplos:
 Significado: al lado de, junto a
Uso: Tanto "next to" como "beside" se pueden utilizar indistintamente. Utilizar una forma u otra dependerá
del hablante y del contexto.
 The supermarket is next to (beside) the bank. (El supermercado está junto al banco.)
 Significado: cerca, al lado de, junto a
Uso: Se puede utilizar en los mismos contextos que "next to" pero el significado de "by" es más como
"cerca" en castellano.
 Ejemplos:
 I sit by the window.Play
 I sit by the window. (Me siento a lado de la ventana.)
 Our house is by the river.Play
 Our house is by the river. (Nuestra casa está cerca del río.)

4. Time preposition:
 Las preposiciones de tiempo se utilizan para indicar cuando sucedió algo. Como vimos en la lección
anterior, las tres preposiciones más comunes ("in", "at", "on"), pueden ser utilizadas como preposiciones de
lugar o preposiciones de tiempo. A continuación se presentan otras preposiciones comunes de tiemp
 EJEMPLOS:
 At 6:30 - A las 6:30
 At 7 o'clock - A las siete
 On Christmas Day - El día de Navidad
 On July 4th - El 4 de Julio
 In January - En enero
 In February - En febrero

5. Present perfect simple
 El presente perfecto equivale más o menos al pretérito perfecto del español. Veremos las diferencias en la sección
sobre usos. En general, es una mezcla entre el presente y el pasado. Lo usamos para acciones en el pasado que
tienen importancia en el presente.
 Ejemplos:
 I've talked to Peter.Play
 I've talked to Peter. (He hablado con Peter.)
 She's gone to work.Play
 She's gone to work. (Ha ido a su trabajo.)
 We've been to London.Play
 We've been to London. (Hemos ido a Londres.)
 They have learned English.Play
 They've learned English. (Han aprendido inglés.)

6. Reported espeesh
 Cuando queremos informar exactamente de lo que otra persona ha dicho, utilizamos el estilo directo. Con
este estilo lo que la persona ha dicho se coloca entre comillas ("...") y deberá ser palabra por palabra.
 Ejemplos:
 I am going to London next week, she said.Play
 "I am going to London next week," she said. ("Voy a Londres la semana que viene," ella dijo.)
 Do you have a pen I could borrow?, he asked.Play
 "Do you have a pen I could borrow," he asked. ("¿Tienes un bolígrafo que puedas prestarme?," él preguntó.)
 Alice said, I love to dance.Play
 Alice said, "I love to dance." (Alice dijo, "Me encanta bailar.")
 Chris asked, Would you like to have dinner with me tomorrow night?Play
 Chris asked, "Would you like to have dinner with me tomorrow night?" (Chris preguntó, "¿Te gustaría cenar conmigo
mañana por la noche?")

7. Introduction to the passive voice
 Although the passive voice is less common than the active voice, there are several good reasons to sometimes use
the passive. On this page we look at how to construct the passive voice and when and why to use it. (For a basic

 La voz pasiva se utiliza cuando se desea expresar una acción poniendo más énfasis en el objeto que en la persona que
realiza dicha acción. Por ejemplo:
 You boil the water for two minutes.
 Esta oración indica que alguien hierve el agua durante dos minutos. En la siguiente oración, sin embargo, se expresa lo
mismo pero sin importar quién realiza esa acción.
 The water is boiled for two minutes.

8. Adverbs of frequency
 Se utilizan para indicar con qué frecuencia se realiza la acción inidicada por el verbo.
 Ejemplos:
 I always go to school by bus.
Siempre voy a la escuela en autobús.
I usually get up at 7.
Usualmente me despierto a las 7.
I often / frequently watch TV in the evening.
Frecuentemente miro TV por

9. PREPOSITIONS FOR / SINCE
 For is used before an exact or inexact quantity of time, and it is commonly used with the present perfect and past
perfect tenses. For (quantity of time) is similiar to in (a period of time); however for can be followed by a more precise
time.
 EJEMPLO.
 We have been coming to this beach for five years.
 Since is used before a specific time or date, and it is commonly used with the present perfect and past perfect tenses.
Since may be followed by a noun phrase or a clause specifying a precise time
 EJEMPLO:
 We have been enjoying this paradise since last Saturday

10. Past simple of can
 La forma del verbo can en Simple Past es could y es la misma para todas las personas. Como es un verbo modal, la
forma negativa no precisa el verbo to do sino que se forma simplemente añadiendo not, que contraído es n't.
 Ejemplo:
 I can ski I could ski ten years ago
 Yo sé esquiar Yo sabía esquiar hace diez años
 I can't sleep I couldn't sleep last night
 Yo no puedo dormir Yo no pude dormir anoche
