There are many pros and cons of gay marriage in America. There are many perks about it. Gay
marriage in the United States can bring financial gain to state and local government. Income from
gay marriage comes from marriage licenses, higher income taxes, and decreases in costs for state
benefit programs (Gay Marriage Procon.org). The gay marriage right is protected by the US
Constitution's commitments to liberty and equality. If one is all for adopting children, this is a
pro. When gay couples want to raise children, they will adopt, which increases the adoption rate.
This provides children with stable homes instead of being left in foster care. Also, If one does not
allow gay marriage, gays will think they are being discriminated against. Do not forget, there are

would anybody not want someone to be happy. Gays should not care what anyone has to think

Gay marriage is something frown upon to most people. Heterosexuals may not understand the reason
for gay marriage. Homosexuals just want equality. Some heterosexual people may not understand
why heterosexuals want equality. Marriage is not a contract, it is a commitment. Marriage should
not be biased. Liberals find homosexual marriage to be extremely overwhelming. If marriage is
supposed to be an emotional, financial, and psychological bond between two people

marriage license is not granted on the condition of a couple bearing children. If homosexuals
wanted to get married, the couple not being able to bear children would not be an excuse to deny
them. The marriage is no less legal and no less defensible. Although a marriage to not given to
people who cannot live up to it. For example, minors are not allowed to get married (without
parent permission), along with one adult and one minor cannot marry. Family members cannot
marry one another. They can't marry one another because of a chance of incest and family

It's difficult to teach the importance and traditions of the family when such confusion is thrust
upon them. The gay lifestyle is not something to be encouraged, as a lot of research shows it leads
to a much lower life expectancy, psychological disorders, and other problems. Studies show that
homosexuals, for a variety of reasons, have life expectancies of approximately 20 years less than the

agree with is for equal rights, across the board, for gay couples. If you are in a same–sex relationship
or marriage, you and your spouse/partner should have the same rights as traditional spouses. You

We live in America on the land of the freedom, where citizens are promise liberty. Today, I would
be explaining the pros and cons of constitutionality of marriage equality. As many things happening
in our world, marriage equality has been an issue for many years. Where LGBT community were
not allowed to get marry under the law. Is one of the most recognized topic in the United States.
Drastically it has caused a mass of controversy among society and the government. Socially there is
a part of the world that agrees and others oppose.
First, is Baker V. Nelson the Supreme Court in Minnesota. John Baker and his partner Michael
McConnell were applying for a marriage license. Gerald R. Nelson the clerk decline the marriage
license. Therefore, the couple decided to file a lawsuit against the clerk. The article, Baker V.

Donald Scarinci stated that, in 1972, the Court ruled that a Minnesota same–sex couple had no

1996. In the article, "The Defense of Marriage Act and the Overextension of Congressional

Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio and Tennessee may have to change their views on gay marriage after
this supreme court case. On April 28, 2015 a supreme court case was issued by Obergefell v.
Hodges. This case stated that gay marriage should be allowed in the following states, Kentucky,
Michigan, Ohio and Tennessee. These individuals are fourteen same sex couples and two men whose
same–sex partners are deceased. They filed suits in Federal District Courts in their home States.
These same sex couples argue that state officials violate the Fourteenth Amendment by denying them
the right to marry or to have marriages lawfully performed. The Fourteenth Amendment states that
everyone has the right to "Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness." The Fourteenth Amendment
requires the States to license a marriage between two people of the same sex and to recognize a
marriage between two people of the same sex when their marriage was lawfully licensed and
performed out–of–State. What does the Fourteenth Amendment say about gay marriage? The 14th
Amendment was drafted in the 19th century and doesn't directly address the question of sexual
orientation and right to marry. The Supreme Court draws its ruling from the fact that the 14th
Amendment allows everyone to enjoy the privileges of American citizenship, including marriage
without legislated discrimination against their orientation. This ruling can cause many other people
to be uncomfortable or disagree with gay marriages. I believe

There are also marriages that based on love stories, and those marriages are mainly based on the
decisions of both man and woman together. Love is the key to each relationship whether a marriage,
friendship, etc., "just as marital love offers the special goods deriving from close companionship,
extramarital affairs offers a unique combination of excitement, affection, recognition, and
strengthened self–esteem" (Martin, p.268). Also, Richard Taylor describes that when loving someone
is to take the risk in overcoming normal pressures against extramarital matters. He explains that when
marriage is based on mutual love, then it should be strong enough to face and survive any affairs
or obstacles that couples might face. In my opinion, love controls every person to see its life
positively; it's a powerful feeling that motives us to do better things every day. However, love
plays an integral part in changing the traditional marriage to a more valuable relationship. By
accepting ones another opinion, to be jealous of doing the best for one another, to see the success in
the eyes of each partner, and to feel fulfillment when taking a decision that is based on ourselves and
not others.
Also, traditional marriage was part of conventional life before. But as the generation changes,
people started to not believe in traditional marriage, because the people want to live their own life
and they are being able to decide for themselves instead of being forced to accept what others asked

Today's culture is filled with romantic movies, novels, and songs telling us that "All You Need is
Love." Due to this popular sentiment, many people view marriage as merely a public expression of
the eternal love between two people, and because of this it does not matter who that love is between.
Whether it is a homosexual or heterosexual relationship, according to society, all that should be
required for marriage is love. Unfortunately, however, marriage is not that simple or solely
emotional. Marriage is a centuries old institution designed to legally unite two people
("Marriage"), and because of this, what a government allows marriage to be legally defined as
has a significant impact on society. The definition of marriage can affect everything from
population to the overall emotional health of society to finances. When the benefits of marriage
are analyzed from such a logical standpoint, it begs the question: "What's Love Got to Do With
It?" There are multiple views on this controversial subject. The main differences in the views of
gay marriage stem from how various philosophies view the institution of marriage itself, with
utilitarians utilizing it as a tool to benefit society as a whole, Aristotle requiring marriage's purpose
to be identified before any decisions are made, and libertarians allowing anyone to get married, as
someone else's marriage does not truly affect the rest of the population.

Same sex marriage is hotly debated for its legality as it is against the natural law. The ramifications
are vast and we are seeing the effects of homosexual legal "rights" affecting housing, education, the

marriage is a form of minority discrimination, same sex marriage does no harm to society and it is

credence to this myth is nil. However, gay marriage provides an environment that is not optimum to
raise children because both a mother and father are needed by children. Besides the children's need
of opposite–sex parents to moderate their gender–linked inclinations, children need a complementary
balance of distinct type of parental love which help them to understand opposite sex better. Through
legalizing same–sex marriages, children are confused by gender roles and expectations of society,
and procreation can only proceed by a man and a woman. In a harmony heterosexual family, girls and
boys benefit from their parents who give affirmation to their masculinity and feminism. Thus it helps

What if someone refused to provide services to someone's wedding? What if the business refused
someone's request, not because of a shortage of supplies, but because they don't want to affiliate
with someone's wedding in any way due to their religious beliefs? More and more cases have
occurred when a business refused to provide a cake or flowers to a same–sex couple's wedding. It is
not O.K. to refuse to serve same–sex couples based on one's religious beliefs because businesses
have a responsibility to serve everyone, anti–discrimination laws are not a violation of a person's
First Amendment rights as some may argue, and refusing gays for religious reasons is a form of

In today's society, there are many stereotypical people that are against gay or lesbian marriage.
Everyone should have the right to decide on who they would like to marry. Gay marriage should be
legal and a non–punishable offense because it can prevent teenage suicides, more children will be
adopted, and people will not feel like second–class citizens.
If humanity were to accept gay marriage, it would lower and prevent some teen suicides. Most teens
are deciding and revealing what path they are going to take in middle and high school. "The number
