1. Diana Martinez
Major: General Studies
•Personal Affirmation: My own personal goals in
the future is to be a part of the Child Protective
Services because I really want to help the kids out
and anyone in general. I really just seek for my own
personal satisfaction. I want to do so much and
nothing all at once at the same time which
sometimes makes it difficult for me to keep my
sight on my goals.
2. Favorite Assignments
• The scavenger hunt was one of my favorite assignments because I learned where I
could get my resources from. From doing this assignment I was actually able to use the
resources I needed for other classes. This was a very useful assignment!
• The DAPPS Goal Setting Assignment was another one I enjoyed because I learned
about what my main focus was and what goal I was really trying reach. Another reason
why I enjoyed this assignment was because I made myself aware of how capable I really
was of my goal, and it just overall made me believe in myself.
• The Blog Reflection was mostly my favorite because it got into depth of what we
thought we already knew. It showed me that we never ever stopped learning and never
be afraid to ask questions. Our own thoughts and knowledge is all we have and we
must continue to learn and grow.
3. Favorite Journals
•Chapter 1 Journal Entry: Self Assessment this would be one of my favorites because it made me
aware of my strengths and weaknesses. I feel like this assignment was necessary for us because I
believe a lot of people already have an idea of how and who they are and when we have
something that reassures our beliefs, it becomes more real. I also really took this assignment
more into consideration.
•Chapter 2: Journal 2 Entry 8 was also one of my favorites because it just showed me how I talk
to myself and what I really think about myself. It made me understand that I need to take it
easy on myself while remaining on task. It also made me more aware of what surrounds really
upsets me so I try and avoid it now.
•My most favorite though would be Chapter 3 Journal Entry 11 because it really showed me how
I want to see myself in my own future. I feel like I have a lot more to offer than what I set
myself to do. It was overall my favorite because I’m still waiting for this day.
4. Module
•Module 2:Accepting Personal Responsibility and Metacognition was my
favorite module because I believe it made us aware of how we need to
take responsibility for the outcomes of our future. It also showed me to
take responsibility and if I fail in the end then that was on me and not my
teachers, my parents, or my surroundings. Overall it basically reassured
me everything i already knew about taking responsibility of my school
work, work, and life in general.
5. 3 Lessons
•The 3 lessons I will carry from this class onto my next ones would be to
not procrastinate, always take responsibility, but mostly to prioritize
myself. I struggle with all of these things and I will keep in mind how
much I struggled this semester in order to not repeat it next semester. I
find it hard to even go out and enjoy myself knowing I’m not where I
want to be school wise (grades) but I also know I sometimes don’t do
anything to change it either. It’s really hard being so aware of how much
I’m messing up but I find it so overwhelming to change it which ends up
frustrating me even more. I just want to be proud of myself next semester
and know that I gave all my classes my full potential.
6. Before & After
•Before and After on the self-assessment on accepting personal
responsibility my scores have remained in the 60’s. I believe that’s
because I know I am responsible for the outcomes of the things I
choose to do. I know that blaming anyone else for my failures will not
fix or help the situation and if anything it will be worse because in the
end you won’t be growing as a person. I believe that accepting
responsibility is something not a lot of people like to do instead they
prefer to move around the situation or to point fingers. I think
accepting personal responsibility is just another big part of self growth.
7. Letter to Next Class
•What I basically want the next class to know is to not procrastinate ever
in any class because it’s so difficult to catch up once they do and they
have to spend even more time trying to finish assignment than they
would have if they had done it earlier. Also to never loose sight of why
they started college and to not loose their self motivation because it’s
hard to care once you stop caring of yourself and their school
assignments.
8. Letter to Next Class
•A few other things I wanted the next class to know was learn what they
really want to learn and never afraid of growth. That this class is
necessary in order to make them realize things about themselves they
already knew or to just discover new things about themselves. Also that
it’s useful because you learn about the resources here at Grayson and they
become more attentive of their surroundings.
9. Goals & Dreams
•Some of my personal goals and dreams include just living a quit, calm,
and tranquil life but also enjoying and experiencing what’s out there.
Some of my goals are to work out more like I used to before, find
motivation, work in CPS. In the future I envision myself having enough to
where I can survive on but also have the things I want. I’m not a
materialistic person so I’d be comfortable with having enough to enjoy
myself with.
10. Goals & Dreams
•I think in the future I want to see myself helping the kids that need help
so they can also achieve their goals and live a peaceful life. I want to see
myself keeping close contact with my family because they are the most
supportive and kind people that I will ever know. I would definitely be a
CPS worker because I wouldn’t want the kids in the future to feel like
they don’t have a way out or that they won’t be able to live a real life. My
family would be there for sure, the few close friends I have, maybe a
puppy, and myself.
