How do whales and dolphins breathe?• Unlike fish, whales and dolphins do not have gills.• Whales and dolphins get oxygen from the air, just like people.• Whales and dolphins swim to the surface and inhale air through their blowholes.• Most whales and dolphins stay underwater for about five minutes before surfacing for air. Some dolphins can stay underwater for up to one hour. Some whales can stay underwater for up to two hours.
