If Paganism was conquered by Christianity, it is equally true that
Christianity was corrupted by Paganism. The pure Deism of the
first Christians (who differed from their fellow Jews only in the
belief that Jesus was the promised Messiah,) was changed, by the
Church of Rome, into the incomprehensible dogma of the trinity.
Many of the pagan tenets, invented by the Egyptians and idealized
by Plato, were retained as being worthy of belief. The doctrine of
the incarnation, and the mystery of transubstantiation, were both
adopted, and are both as repugnant to reason, as was the ancient
pagan rite of viewing the entrails of animals to forecast the fate of
empires! Edward Gibbon, Preface to: History of Christianity:

Comprising All That Relates to the Progress of the Christian Religion in "The
History of the Decline and Fall of the Roman Empire", and a Vindication of
Some Passages in the 15th and 16th Chapters (New York, NY: Peter
Eckler, 1891), page xvi.

1. Pagan beliefs were prevalent in the ancient times ( east and
   west).
2. New-Platonism aided along with the ancient pagan religions
   made modern Christianity.
3. Christianity was very simple and pure but because of the
many interpolations in this religions to harmonize between
all the religions of the Roman Empire, many of its basic
   dogmas were changed.
4. It was Paul who first invented the dogma of crucifixion and
salvation which was rampant in the ancient pagan religions.
                                                         www.knowmuhammad.org
1. For political aims Constantine held Nicaea synod
(325AD) in which the divinity of Jesus was decided.
2. In the first synod, the four gospels were selected from
forty bibles (other sources say fifty bibles)
3. In the successive synods all the borrowings from the
ancient Pagan religions were enforced into Christianity.
All the Unitarians were fought everywhere and their
   books were burnt.

Helped Christianity spread subtracted from its
personal significance and promoted Corruption and
hypocrisy. Many people were attracted to the Church
because of the money and favored positions available
to them from Constantine rather than from piety.
The growth of the Church and its new-found public
aspect prompted the building of specialized places of
worship where leaders were architecturally separated

                                     www.knowmuhammad.org
from the common attendees, which stood in sharp
contrast to the earlier house churches which were
small and informal.

Constantine engrafted polytheism in Christianity

Constantine believed that the Church and the State
should be as close as possible. From 312-320
Constantine was tolerant of paganism, keeping pagan

gods on coins and retaining his pagan high priest
title"Pontifex Maximus" in order to maintain
popularity with his subjects, possibly indicating that he
never understood the theology of Christianity.

From 320-330 he began to attack paganism through
the government but in many cases persuaded people
to follow the laws by combining pagan worship with
Christianity. He made December 25th, the birthday of
                                       www.knowmuhammad.org
Jesus. It is likely that he also instituted celebrating
Easter and lent based on pagan holidays. From
330-337 Constantine stepped up his destruction of
paganism, and during this time his
mother, Helen, made a pilgrimage to Jerusalem and
began excavations to recover artifacts in the city, This
popularized the tradition of pilgrimages in Christianity.

                                         www.knowmuhammad.org
Whether or not his conversion was "genuine,
"Constantine's reign was extremely important to
the Christian church. After his vision, he immediately
declared Christianity legal in the Edict of Milan.

He completely abandoned paganism and put his full
force of favor towards advancing the Church of Christ.
He funded Christian leaders and the construction of
churches, some which he dedicated to his mother. Most

Most of ancient theology is lost under the sands of time.
However, archaeological expeditions in ancient
Mesopotamia have uncovered the fascinating culture of
the Sumerians, which flourished over 4,000 years ago.
Though Sumeria was overthrown first by Assyria, and then
by Babylon, its gods lived on in the cultures of those who
conquered. The historian S. H. Hooke tells in detail of the
ancient Sumerian trinity: Anu was the primary god of
heaven, the ‘Father’, and the ‘King of the Gods’; Enlil, the
‘wind-god’ was the god of the earth, and a creator god;
and Enki was the god of waters and the ‘lord of wisdom’
(15-18). The historian, H. W. F. Saggs, explains that the
Babylonian triad consisted of ‘three gods of roughly equal
rank... whose inter-relationship is of the essence of their
natures’ (316).
                                           www.knowmuhammad.org
Long before modern historians discovered this fact
( borrowing pagan concepts into Christianity ), the
Holy Quran had referred to this fact, God says:

“ …they ( the Christians and the Jews) imitate the saying of those who
disbelieved [before them]. May Allah destroy them; how are they deluded?
(9:30)

In the next few slides, read about the ancient pagan atoning gods.
From these ancient pagan religions, Christianity borrowed many of its
concepts

The Most famous sixteen saviors that preceded Jesus
I. CRUCIFIXION OF KRISHNA OF INDIA, 1200 BC

Among the sin-atoning Gods who condescended in
ancient times to forsake the throne of heaven, and
descend upon the plains of India, through human
birth, to suffer and die for the sins and transgressions
of the human race, There is a halo of glory over it,
emanating from the heavens above, just as we have
seen Jesus Christ represented in a work by a Christian
writer, entitled ‘Quarles’ E
                                          www.knowmuhammad.org
The Saviour is represented with a hole in the top of one
foot, just above the toes, where the nail was inserted in
the act of crucifixion.
In several of the icons (drawings) there are marks of
holes in both feet, and in others of holes in the hands
only.
To his collar or shirt hangs an emblem of a heart,
represented in the same manner as those attached to
the imaginary likenesses of Jesus Christ, which may now
be found in some Christian countries

The mother and child being visited by
shepherds, wise men and the angelic host, who
joyously sang, ‘In thy delivery, O favoured among
women, all nations shall have cause to exult.’
The edict of the tyrant ruler Cansa, ordering all the
first born to be put to death.
The miraculous escape of the mother and child from
his bloody decree by the parting of the waves of the
River Jumna to permit them to pass through on dry
ground.

His baptism or ablution in the River
Ganges, corresponding to Christ’s baptism in Jordan.
His transfiguration at Madura, where he assured
his disciples that ‘present or absent, I will always
be with you.’
He was anointed with oil by women, like Christ.
A somewhat similar fish story is told of him.

II. CRUCIFIXION OF THE HINDU SAKIA, 600 BC
SAKIA , according to his biography, is a God crucified
by an arrow being driven through his body, which
fastened him to a tree (Jesus also was crucified)
Sakia, a hindu account states, was crucified by his
enemies for the humble act of plucking a flower in a
garden.

                                       www.knowmuhammad.org
Note: One of the accusations brought against
Christ, it will be remembered, was that of plucking
the ripened ears of corn on the Sabbath.
Also Note: either the child or the mother is frequently
represented with a bunch of flowers in the hand.

                                       www.knowmuhammad.org
Jesus, his sacred biography, says:
He in mercy left Paradise, and came down to earth
because he was filled with compassion for the sins and
miseries of mankind. .., and (Sakia) took their sufferings
upon himself that he might expiate their crimes and
mitigate the punishment they must otherwise
inevitably undergo." (Prog. Rel. Ideas, vol. i.p. 86.)

                                           www.knowmuhammad.org
… so great were his (Sakia) sympathy and
tenderness, that he condescended to suffer that
punishment himself, by an ignominious death upon
the cross, after which he descended into Hades
(Hell), to suffer for a time (three days) for the inmates
of that dreadful and horrible prison…”
Note that Christianity borrowed the same concept
and made.

                                         www.knowmuhammad.org
The object of his mission," says a writer, "was to
instruct those who were straying from the right path,
and expiate the sins of mortals by his own suffering,
and procure for them a happy entrance into Paradise
by obedience to his precepts and prayers to his
name. (Ibid.)

                                        www.knowmuhammad.org
"His followers always speak of him as one with God
from all eternity." (Ibid.) His most common title was
"the Savior of the World." He was also called "the
Benevolent One," "the Dispenser of Grace," "the
Source of Life, the Light of the World," "the True
Light," etc.

                                        www.knowmuhammad.org
Like Jesus, He spent much time in retirement, and
like Christ in another respect, was once tempted by a
demon who offered him all the honors and wealth of
the world. But he rebuked the devil, saying, Be gone;
hinder me not.“
" Hence, the people declared, "He is no mortal
child, but an incarnation of the Deity."

III. THAMMUZ OF SYRIA CRUCIFIED, 1160 BC

this God was crucified at the period above named, as a

sin-atoning offering.

" Julius Firmicus speaks of this God "rising from the

dead for the salvation of the world."

IV. CRUCIFIXION OF WITTOBA OF THE TELINGONESIC,
552 BC
"He is represented in his history with nail-holes in his hands
and the soles of his feet.
" Nails, hammers and pincers are constantly seen.
represented on his crucifixes, and are objects of adoration
among his followers.
The worship of this crucified God, according to our author,
prevails chiefly in the Travancore and other south ern
countries in the region of Madura.

V. IAO OF NEPAL CRUCIFIED, 622 BC

He was crucified on a tree in Nepaul." (See Georgius, p.

202.) The name of this incarnate God and oriental Savior

occurs frequently in the holy bibles and sacred books of

other countries.

VI. HESUS OF THE CELTIC DRUIDS CRUCIFIED, 834 BC

the Celtic Druids represent their God Hesus as having

been crucified with a lamb (representing the innocence

of the victim) on one side and an elephant

( representing the magnitude of the sin) on the

other, and that this occurred long before the Christian

era.

VII. QUEXALCOTE OF MEXICO CRUCIFIED, 587 BC

Historical authority, relative to the crucifixion of this

Mexican God, and to his execution upon the cross as a

propitiatory sacrifice for the sins of mankind, is

explicit, unequivocal and ineffaceable. The evidence is

tangible, and indelibly engraven upon steel and metal

plates
                                             www.knowmuhammad.org
Codex Borgianus tells us “ of his death, burial,

descent into hell, and resurrection " may be found

the account, not only of his crucifixion, but on the

third day. And another work, entitled "Codex

Vaticanus," contains the story of his immaculate

birth by a virgin mother by the name of Chimalman.

                                        www.knowmuhammad.org
such as his forty days' temptation and fasting, his
riding on an ass, his purification in the temple, his
baptism and regeneration by water, his forgiving of
sins, being anointed with oil, etc. "All these things,
and many more, found related of this Mexican God
in their sacred books," says Lord Kingsborough
(a Christian writer), "are curious and mysterious."
(See the books above cited.)

VIII. QUIRINUS OF ROME CRUCIFIED, 506 BC

He is represented, like Christ: -

As having been conceived and brought forth by a
virgin.

His life was sought by the reigning king (Amulius).

He was of royal blood, his mother being of kingly
descent.

                                         www.knowmuhammad.org
He was "put to death by wicked hands" --
i.e., crucified.

At his mortal exit the whole earth is said to have been
enveloped in darkness, as in the case of
Christ, Chrishna, and Prometheus.

And finally he is resurrected, and ascends back to
heaven.

IX. (AESCHYLUS) PROMETHEUS CRUCIFIED, 547 BC
"I have seen the account which declares he was
nailed to a cross with hammer and nails." (Anac.
vol. i. 327.)
Confirmatory of this statement is the declaration of
Mr. Southwell, that "he exposed himself to the wrath
of God in his zeal to save mankind."

                                       www.knowmuhammad.org
That the whole frame of nature became convulsed.
The earth shook, the rocks were rent, the graves
were opened, and in a storm, which seemed to
threaten the dissolution of the universe, the solemn
scene forever closed, and "Our Lord and Savior"
Prometheus gave up the ghost.
The cause for which he suffered," says Mr.
Southwell, "was his love for the human race."

X. CRUCIFIXION OF THULIS OF EGYPT, 1700 BC
twenty-eight lotus plants near his grave indicate the
number of years be lived on the earth. After suffering a
violent death, he was buried, but rose again, ascended
into heaven, and there became "the judge of the dead,"
or of souls in a future state. Wilkison says he came down
from heaven to benefit mankind, and that he was said to
be full of grace and truth."

XI. CRUCIFIXION OF INDRA OF TIBET, 725 BC
This Tibetan Savior is depicted as having been nailed to the
cross. There are five wounds, representing the nail-holes and
the piercing of the side.
He descended from heaven on a mission of benevolence, and
ascended back to the heavenly mansion after his crucifixion.
He was worshiped as a God who had existed as a spirit from
all eternity, and his followers were called "Heavenly
Teachers."

XIII. ATYS OF PHRYGIA CRUCIFIED, 1170 BC
He was suspended on a tree, crucified, buried and
rose again.
Speaking of this crucified Messiah, the Anacalypsis
informs us that several histories are given of him, but
all concur in representing him as having been an
atoning offering for sin.

The effect of paganism on christianity

  • 1.
  • 2. If Paganism was conquered by Christianity, it is equally true that Christianity was corrupted by Paganism. The pure Deism of the first Christians (who differed from their fellow Jews only in the belief that Jesus was the promised Messiah,) was changed, by the Church of Rome, into the incomprehensible dogma of the trinity. Many of the pagan tenets, invented by the Egyptians and idealized by Plato, were retained as being worthy of belief. The doctrine of the incarnation, and the mystery of transubstantiation, were both adopted, and are both as repugnant to reason, as was the ancient pagan rite of viewing the entrails of animals to forecast the fate of empires! Edward Gibbon, Preface to: History of Christianity: www.knowmuhammad.org
  • 3. Comprising All That Relates to the Progress of the Christian Religion in "The History of the Decline and Fall of the Roman Empire", and a Vindication of Some Passages in the 15th and 16th Chapters (New York, NY: Peter Eckler, 1891), page xvi. 1. Pagan beliefs were prevalent in the ancient times ( east and west). 2. New-Platonism aided along with the ancient pagan religions made modern Christianity. 3. Christianity was very simple and pure but because of the many interpolations in this religions to harmonize between all the religions of the Roman Empire, many of its basic dogmas were changed. 4. It was Paul who first invented the dogma of crucifixion and salvation which was rampant in the ancient pagan religions. www.knowmuhammad.org
  • 4. 1. For political aims Constantine held Nicaea synod (325AD) in which the divinity of Jesus was decided. 2. In the first synod, the four gospels were selected from forty bibles (other sources say fifty bibles) 3. In the successive synods all the borrowings from the ancient Pagan religions were enforced into Christianity. All the Unitarians were fought everywhere and their books were burnt. www.knowmuhammad.org
  • 5. Helped Christianity spread subtracted from its personal significance and promoted Corruption and hypocrisy. Many people were attracted to the Church because of the money and favored positions available to them from Constantine rather than from piety. The growth of the Church and its new-found public aspect prompted the building of specialized places of worship where leaders were architecturally separated www.knowmuhammad.org
  • 6. from the common attendees, which stood in sharp contrast to the earlier house churches which were small and informal. Constantine engrafted polytheism in Christianity Constantine believed that the Church and the State should be as close as possible. From 312-320 Constantine was tolerant of paganism, keeping pagan www.knowmuhammad.org

From 320-330 he began to attack paganism through the government but in many cases persuaded people to follow the laws by combining pagan worship with Christianity. He made December 25th, the birthday of www.knowmuhammad.org

From 330-337 Constantine stepped up his destruction of paganism, and during this time his mother, Helen, made a pilgrimage to Jerusalem and began excavations to recover artifacts in the city, This popularized the tradition of pilgrimages in Christianity. www.knowmuhammad.org
  • 9. Whether or not his conversion was "genuine, "Constantine's reign was extremely important to the Christian church. After his vision, he immediately declared Christianity legal in the Edict of Milan. He completely abandoned paganism and put his full force of favor towards advancing the Church of Christ. He funded Christian leaders and the construction of churches, some which he dedicated to his mother. Most Christian www.knowmuhammad.org
  • 10. Most of ancient theology is lost under the sands of time. However, archaeological expeditions in ancient Mesopotamia have uncovered the fascinating culture of the Sumerians, which flourished over 4,000 years ago. Though Sumeria was overthrown first by Assyria, and then by Babylon, its gods lived on in the cultures of those who conquered. The historian S. H. Hooke tells in detail of the ancient Sumerian trinity: Anu was the primary god of heaven, the ‘Father’, and the ‘King of the Gods’; Enlil, the ‘wind-god’ was the god of the earth, and a creator god; and Enki was the god of waters and the ‘lord of wisdom’ (15-18). The historian, H. W. F. Saggs, explains that the Babylonian triad consisted of ‘three gods of roughly equal rank... whose inter-relationship is of the essence of their natures’ (316). www.knowmuhammad.org
  • 11. Long before modern historians discovered this fact ( borrowing pagan concepts into Christianity ), the Holy Quran had referred to this fact, God says: “ …they ( the Christians and the Jews) imitate the saying of those who disbelieved [before them]. May Allah destroy them; how are they deluded? (9:30) In the next few slides, read about the ancient pagan atoning gods.
