3. Digipak–FrontCover
For the front cover there will be the main girl (wife) as a medium shot of her waste and
upwards. She will be posing for the camera and wearing her posh, nice, going out
clothes that she wears in the pub scene in the music video for Respect. The image will
have a light pink tint to the background, keeping with the stereotypical bright colours
of the pop music genre. The artists name will be in the bottom right side of the cover
and will be in an informal hand written font. The image will be brightly coloured fitting
in with the pop music genre. The name of the album will at the top of the cover in the
center in big, block, bold text.
On the front cover there is woman standing alone and has a happy expression on her
face. This is a indexical sign, which is mean to represent female empowerment and that
women don’t need men to feel strong. The name of the artist in the bottom right
corner of the cover is in script text, although it is the name Yasmin Dawes, which is an
iconic sign because it says what it is, the script text is in her hand righting which is a
indexical sign because you have to know the person to now the handwriting style.
The preferred reading of the front cover is that she is standing alone and is strong and
happy. She does’t have to rely on anyone else to be herself and she comfortable being
how she is. The oppositional reading might be be that she is all alone in this big
celebrity lifestyle and she has know one to share it will. People might thing that she is
putting on a happy face for the camera for the publicity of the album but really she is
sad and all alone.
5. There wont be an image on the CD cover but there will be text, Respect,
repeated. The main text on the CD will be black and in a big, block, bold font the
same as the title of the album on the front cover, so that is stands out. The name
of the artist will be black in the bottom right of CD and will be is a script text, that
it looks like Yasmin Dawes The background, behind the cd will be a light pink and
the actual CD will be white so that the text, Respect is clear.
On the CD cover of the album is is quite plain but the word respect it scattered
over the actual CD. This is an iconic sign because it actually say what it is and
everyone knows. The name of the artist in the bottom right corner of the CD
cover is in script text, although it is the name Yasmin Dawes, which is an iconic
sign because it says what it is, the script text is in her hand righting which is a
indexical sign because you have to know the person to now the handwriting
style.
The preferred reading is that they are trying to make a statement that they want
you to feel respect by others and to respect others. The oppositional reading
might be that Yasmin Dawes is asking others to respect themselves but she
does’t respect herself.

6. Digipak–InsideFlap
Respect
What you want
Baby I got it, mmm
What you need, you know I got it
All I'm asking, is for a little respect when you get home
Hey baby, when you get home
Just a little bit, mista
I ain't gonna do you wrong, while your gone
I ain't gonna do you wrong, cause I don't wanna
And all I want you do for me
Is give it to me when you get home, alright now
When you get home, just a little bit mista
R-E-S-P-E-C-T, find out what it means to me
R-E-S-P-E-C-T, take care TCB
Nooo, a little respect
No, a little respect
Gonna say it one more time
R-E-S-P-E-C-T, find out what it means to me
R-E-S-P-E-C-T, take care TCB
No, yeah
A little respect
7. Digipak–InsideFlap
The background will be slightly tinted pink the same as the CD cover. There
will be an image on the bottom corner of the cover. The image will be of
Yasmin Dawes posing on the floor in posh, nice clothing not her house
ware and apron. The words to the main song, Respect, will be writing in a
scrip front as if Yasmin Dawes has written it to the owner of the CD.
There is only two main features on the inside cover, which is an image
Yasmin Dawes and the lyrics to the song. These are both iconic signs as
they both look and sound like what they are to the viewer.
The preferred reading is that she is in a comfortable position and is happy
with herself and the way she feels. She is who she is and she isn't going to
change. She is happy and comfortable about talking to people through her
songs. The oppositional reading might be that she is too comfortable with
her body and making others feel worse for it.
9. Digipak–BackCover
All of the song titles will be placed on the back cover in the center of the
cover. There will be an image used for the background that will be tinted
pink, keeping with the stereotypical bright colours of the pop music genre
and it will be an image of the woman and her husband walking away in
each others army. The woman and her husband will be placed in the top
left corner. The songs on the back will include 3 songs, Respect, Respect
Remix (Feet. DJ Fresh) and Stronger. The title of the album will be repeated
in the same font style as the front cover and it will be placed in the top right
corner of the back cover. At the bottom will be the copy rights and the
record label.
The image on the back cover of them both walking away together holding
hand is an indexical sin because we see this as a symbol of love and respect
for someone close to you. The logos on the bottom of the back cover are
iconic signs because they are what they look like and what they represent.
The prefered reading is that you should be happy and respect yourself
before you expect others to. You should be yourself and not try to be any
one else. The opposstional reading might be that she is going against the
whole woman empowerment and respect, not going with what she is
pushing across in her music video and magazine advert.
