They can be addictive and cause users to spend hours online rather than focusing on work, school, or real-world socializing. This overuse of social media can negatively impact users' mental and physical health, concentration and motivation, and communication skills. Cyberbullying is also a risk, and the excessive use of social media by youth replaces time that could be spent on other activities. While social networks can help people connect, they require responsible use to avoid harmful effects.
