5. Story and evolution of Roga and Nidana:
• Ancient acharyas duties -homa tapa adhyana upavasa so on
• When human ability started to deteriorate this led to suffering and evolution
of disease
• There is overall decrease in performance of human especially physical
strength, stamina, life span ,this become big obstacle for their achievement
• This obstacle called ROGA/VYADHI which gives pain, suffering and unusual
death.
• Roga become prevalent among all living creature which created havoc and
destruction of creation started.
• So Maharshi Bharadhwaja approached lord Indra received trisutra of
Ayurveda which is remedy for all sort of roga /vyadhi

6. Definition and Synonyms of Nidana-
• The term Nidana has got different meanings
• Nidana means the factors responsible for producing disease ie. etiological
factors
Nimitta, hetu, ayatana, pratyaya, utthana, karana, kartha, samuthana, nidana,
yoni,mukha, prakruti, nibandhana, beeja and moola are synonyms of nidana

The science with describes roga by means of nidana
purvaroopa,roopa,samprapthi,upashaya,anupashaya,and sadhya
asadhyata called Roganidana and Vikriti Vijnana

Why we need Roganidana
• We need to know every aspects and nature of disease before
treatment
• And also for prevention of disease
• Before starting a treatment disease has to be examined so that
appropriate treatment can be given.
• A treatment can be successful only if diagnosis is right

features and plan treatment on the basis of sandya

• Treatment explained in our classical text are to correct
doshavaishamya,so we need to understand the
doshavaishamya before correcting it.
