This document discusses career development options for researchers. It outlines the typical academic career path of PhD -> multiple postdocs -> potential tenure track position. It notes the importance of mobility and securing short term funding. The document also provides information on European and national funding sources for postdocs and more senior researchers, including Marie Curie actions. It acknowledges the limited number of academic positions and discusses alternative career paths in research management, private sector research, or starting one's own company.
3. Where do we stand? Who are you? Did you want to be a researcher in the first place? Who do you want to be? Do you still want to be a researcher? What does it take to become one? To answer this question we may need to make some considerations about the research career
