2. The entire slow motion part of this video was filmed on a Phantom Flex (V1610)
camera at fifteen thousand frames per second. This is 600 times slower than is seen
at regular human sight. The video was available to be viewed at 720p, when set to
HD.

THE SLOW MO GUYS:
I think the artist evokes a sense of
energy, yet delicacy through the
use of such variety in the colour
and brightness of this work. The
bold use of colour in this
photograph creates an
overwhelming experience of
freedom. I am drawn to the
artist’s use of shape created by
the paint at that second, which
also helps to capture a sense of
freedom. The inclusion of the
sparks inside the paint suggests
to me a feeling of juxtaposition
through the destruction it
creates and the tranquillity that
it portrays. I love the way the
artist uses the fire and sparks to
enhance the dimensions the
paint has created in this
explosion. The bright colours
remind me of the feelings of
brilliance within calm.
3. For this video it was filmed with a Phantom Flex,
hand held – set at 2500 fps.
THE SLOW MO GUYS:
I chose to look at this specific photograph
because it inspires me to take bigger step in
creating an effective piece of work. I feel
the main message being sent across here is
how remarkable something can look if
seen from a distance at the right time. The
artist set out with intentions of doing
something dangerous, yet with the ability of
slowing it down to see every change the fire
is shown in a unique way.
The composition of this work is effective in
the fact that to the right one the artists can
be seen wearing protective face gear as
they throw the fire, reminding us of how
dangerous it actually is, but the fire takes
the centre and the attention of the
photograph as it is sprawled through the air.
It is mentioned that the saturation had been
taken down extremely in this video to allow
the fire to be seen in great detail. But doing
this also had the effect of shadowing
everything else in comparison to the fire.
Because of this the colour and boldness of
the fire creates a sense of heat and chaos
that juxtaposes the atmosphere
beautifully.
4. It was set to be exposed as the flames were
brighter than the sky on he day of filming.

5. By doing this the flames would not appear over
exposed and more detail could be seen.

7. This video was shot at 500fps, and lasted 2 minutes when, in reality, it
only took 0.6 seconds in total to record. The entire thing is shown 200
times slower than real time.
THE SLOW MO GUYS:
In this video a drop of one
coloured paint falls into
another coloured of paint and
they are captured at high
speed through a macro lens to
create this photograph. Part of
what influenced me to study
this work is that it captures
something so small and
average and shows it to us in a
way that we could never have
seen for ourselves; allowing it to
explore ideas of ignorance. The
background is plain black
, allowing all the attention of
the photo to be kept on the
paint in the centre of the
screen. The colours are very
exaggerated because of how
close up the picture was
captured; the fact that it can
actually be seen as the blue
mixes into the pink evokes an
atmosphere of both hot and
cold in a complimentary way.
Because it is something so
small, by capturing it directly
on the feelings of boldness are
portrayed even stronger that
how it would have been if the
picture was taken from a high
angle, as these sorts of things
are usually viewed everyday.

THE SLOW MO GUYS:
This image was created by
placing a tuning fork into a glass
of water whilst it was vibrating.
I think the artist evokes a feeling
of calm and delicacy through
the use of the water droplets
against the green, out of focus
background. The bright use of
shape in this photo creates an
overwhelming experience
fragility, as we know it will only
last a second.
I am struck by the artist’s use of
light against each individual
drop of water, which helps to
capture the sense of freedom
that seems to be displayed in
this split second.
The inclusion of the green
coloured background instead of
the usual black suggests to be a
sense of nature, allowing the
water to seem more tranquil
than if against black.
I love the way the artist uses
average materials to emphasis
how anything can appear
fascinating if captured at the
right moment.
10. Shot at 2500 fps with a Phantom Flex camera.

THE SLOW MO GUYS:
I think the artist creates an
experience of vulnerability yet
beautiful chaos in this image
through the use of everyday
objects applied in a way that is
against convention. The bold use
of colours creates an
overwhelming feeling of
destruction. I am drawn to the
artists use of lines and shape the
fire can be seen to follow the
tennis ball. It really helps to
capture the feelings of danger
and heat.
The inclusion of the droplets that
can be seen sprayed across the air
in the centre of the photograph
suggests to me a sense of delicacy
within the whole of the picture. This
contradicts itself in a way that
make the split second of which this
image was captured seem slightly
surreal.
I love the way the artist again uses
average materials seem extremely
fascinating through the applied
techniques, allowing the whole of
the image to be emphasised.
