• WHAT WE HAVE DONE
• Case Studies
• THE HUB, Regents Park
• THE HUB : A prestigious electrical and data
installation recently completed in Central
London
• CRS CISCO Router Installation
• CRS Paris : A routine installation was identified
as being potentially dangerous by SMART
technicians, and a dynamic solution was offered
• NHS critical systems development
• NHS Winchester : Metro had secured the
refurbishment project of The South Central
Ambulance Service in Winchester and needed
an experienced, reliable electrical contractor to
take on the demanding roles of designers,
consultants and installers for the various new
critical installations. SMART was there to help
6. A CRS CASE STUDY
Smart were engaged by one of the leading suppliers of networking
equipment and network management for the Internet to assist with the
deployment of their CRS1-16 Core Routers across a number of major
European cities.
Smart’s involvement within this project was for the supply of resource
and materials to:
Project Manage
Survey
Installation
Configuration
7. For this project the Client arranged delivery of each Cisco CRS16 to the site, with Smart
having responsibility for relocating the Cisco CRS 1-16 to the footprint within the data
centre from the loading bay.
During the survey of the Paris data centre,
Smart raised concerns as to the maximum
loading the existing raised floor would be able
to safely accommodate.
Smart were then asked by the client to
undertake further investigations to ascertain
the implications of the proposed installation.
CRS1-16 In final Location
Smart engaged a Structural Engineer to
undertake a detailed survey in direct
relationship to the raised floor, the building
fabrication and the site access to confirm the
viability of the proposed installation.
8. As a result of the Structural survey it was ascertained that with a maximum existing floor
loading of 500kg and a fully loaded CRS1-16 weighing in at 750kg some additional works
would have to be undertaken to facilitate the installation.
Smart then worked closely with the Structural
Engineer, the client and the management
department of the Paris data centre to
design, install and test a suitable strengthened
floor support solution to permit the
installation of the CRS1-16.
Upon completion of the alterations to the
DC Powered CRS1-16
raised floor Smart continued with the
installation of the CRS1-16 including:
Siting of the CRS1-16 on the footprint
Installation and connection of the DC power
connectivity, First power up, Configuration,
Final testing, Hand over
