Peter’s Experience and
Warning
Simon Peter, when called by the Lord, immediately followed Him
(Matthew 4:18-20). No doubt, Peter enjoyed his close fellowship with
Jesus and was greatly strengthened thereby.
Obviously in spite of all the good influence from Jesus, Peter did
not become a man of iron. He still remained just a fallible human
being.
Christ exclaimed to Peter on one occasion, “…when thou art
converted, strengthen thy brethren” (Luke 22:32). His following
Christ was afar off on the night of the betrayal (Luke 22:54). After he
had betrayed his Lord, he wept bitterly (Luke 22:62).
This godly sorrow brought genuine repentance (II Corinthians
7:10). Do you not think that Peter was probably thinking of the
devil’s influence in his own life when he, by inspiration, gave us
warning?
“Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a
roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour” (I Peter
5:8).
Let us give earnest heed to Peter’s stern warning about Satan’s full
intent to destroy us!

Thank You Notes
To our fellow brothers/sisters:
Sister Annie and I want to thank each and every
one of you for all the concerns and prayers in a time
of uncertainty. The results of my tests were good. No
immediate dangers were detected. I have a follow up
visit in 6 months. If there is no change then, all will be
well. Once again with great humility and love we say
THANKS. Rommie & Annie Dilworth

Dear East Main family,
Thank you so much for your prayers, cards, calls
and flowers. They meant so much at a time when our
hearts were filled with sadness. We will miss Scotty,
but it was easier to give him up than to watch him
gasping for breath. If tobacco is your vice, I urge you
to quit NOW! The price is far too great.
Our love to each of you,
Twinette and family

Dear East Main church family,
The love and sympathy expressed to me in the
death of my sister-in-law is so appreciated. The
beautiful plant reminds me of Frances’ generosity.
The cards were heart-warming as well. It is a joy to
be in a family as concerned as East Main. When I
need someone, you’re always there. Again, thank you
for the gorgeous plant and your love. Always,
Evelyn McEwen
