What Does ECO Carbon Offsets Do?
ECO has three main activities:
Management Consultants: ECO Provides management consulting advice to
businesses. We measure the size of their carbon footprint and assist in reducing
the CO2 emissions of organisations. During the next year or so, companies along
the supply chain, will be affected by the decision of their clients who are expected
to increasingly choose to do business with only those suppliers who are carbon
neutral – because their clients will not want to add to their own carbon footprint.
We also show our clients how becoming carbon neutral can be cost neutral.
Carbon Farming Advice to Landowners: ECO generates new cashflow
opportunities for landowners and rural communities to assist them adjust to
changing climatic and economic conditions, through the growing of native
vegetation for carbon biosequestration purposes. ECO works with landowners to
enable landowners plant Kyoto compliant native vegetation. ECO also attends to
the legal and compliance requirements to enable the plantation to be registered as
a separate property right on the Certificate of Title with the Land Titles Office.
Broker: ECO is a Broker between Landowner and Emitter. “The landowner grows
trees-we sell carbon offsets”
In effect we bring together landowners, relevant specialists and sources of finance to
grow trees which we turn into bio-carbon offsets through a robust process of planting,
measurement, verification, registration, protection, management and audit.
Outside these core delivery areas, we are working with the SA Government’s
Department of Environment, Water and Natural resources (DEWNR) to establish
reference sites in regional areas which landowners can use to understand the economic

Landowner Focused Tasks:
Consulting: Assisting Landowners determine if their land is suitable for growing native
vegetation for Carbon.
110 Years: To determine whether these Landowners are prepared to sign and register
a Forest Property Agreement which secures the land for 110 years and protects the
trees for at least this period so that a registered Carbon Offset can be offered to the
Carbon emission market.
Measurement: Measuring the likely Carbon sequestration tonnage from the site,
Plantings: Ensuring the plantings are Kyoto compliant,
Biodiversity: Planting biodiverse native vegetation which, in addition to meeting Kyoto
compliance requirements, also achieves an outcome which results in the provision of
native habitat corridors.
Verification: Ongoing Carbon verification on a 3 yearly basis.
Audit & Asset Register: Maintenance of an asset register to ensure that no tree is sold
twice and to meet independent audit requirements forming part of an Emission Trading
Scheme.
Accreditation: Complying with ongoing accreditation requirements.
Legals: Establishing Forest Property Agreement with Landowner and registering it with
Land Titles Office,
Emitter Focused Tasks
Carbon Footprint Measurement: Measuring the quantum of Greenhouse Gasses
emissions by businesses and assisting organisations reduce their emissions.
Matching Emitters: Matching Carbon buyers (emitters of CO2e) who want to purchase
tree-based offsets with carbon farmers who have grown suitable biosequestered offsets.
Pricing: Negotiating pricing with emitters along with other matters.
Sales: Establishing sales and legal contracts with the buyers.
Carbon Asset Register: Establishing and maintaining a Carbon Audit Register
(thereby ensuring carbon retirement and that the same tree is not sold twice)
Audit & Compliance: Providing emitters with assurances in regard to audits;
methodology and standards.
Certification: Providing Carbon Offset certificates to emitters.
Fire Insurance: Providing fire insurance cover for first 5 years.
Reporting: Provide annual growing report to emitter clients for their internal records or
Annual Reports.
Single Point of Contact: For major emitters – one central contact point and not
multiple Landowners.
