The document criticizes Brian Cowen and Brian Lenihan, the former Taoiseach and Finance Minister of Ireland, for their roles in the bank guarantee of 2008 and subsequent financial crisis in Ireland. It argues that they committed "treason" by shifting hundreds of billions of private bank debt onto Irish taxpayers to bail out banks. This decision plunged Ireland into insolvency and forced it to accept an EU-IMF bailout, imposing austerity on Irish citizens. The document calls for Ireland to default on bank debt, leave the Euro, end private central banking, and implement economic reforms to achieve prosperity.

NOW is the Time for the People of Ireland to take matters into THEIR
OWN HANDS by withdrawing the funding ofthe corrupt International
BANKSTERS by REFUSING to pay any more interest on loans, credit

Our Government have, against the will of the People, BORROWED
money to give away to the BANKSTERS in the form of massive bail-
outs, using the People - thats YOU and ME, folks - as COLLATERAL.
Yep! The working men and women of Ireland are offered as
COLLATERAL for huge IMF and ECB loans on the basis that, as tax
payers, they will foot the bill. Our ever-increasing taxes and levies are
effectively promised to the IMF and ECB as repayment for ever-
increasing Government borrowing - this borrowing is being used to bail
out the high street banks, who in turn have the AUDACITYto 'lend' that
money back to us - AT INTEREST! This is how it REALLY works

.......FOREVER!
By Gabriel Donohoe
The Irish Government has finally passed the
harshest budget in the history of the State with
further austerity promised for the next three
years and perhaps for decades. Taoiseach Brian Cowen
and Finance Minister Brian Lenihan have steered
Ireland from the booming prosperity of a Celtic Tiger
to a ruined shell of a country where unemployment,
poverty, emigration, and despair are proceeding to
destroy a once proud, industrious people.
Cowen and Lenihan also bear the ignominy of having
brought in the International Monetary Fund who, along
with EU banksters, are now dictating Irish fiscal
policy. The IMF has long had a vulturish reputation for
plundering weaker countries by stripping the flesh of
its victims down to the bare bones. This repulsive
scavenger is well known for promoting austerity and
misery, grabbing national assets for its bankster and
corporate friends, and leaving the skeleton of a
country’s economy in its wake. The first piece of offal
to be plucked from the Irish carcass by this
opportunistic carrion eater was the nation’s €20 billion
pension fund, the life savings ofworking people.
As a result ofIreland’s dramatic reversal offortune the
names of Brian Cowen and Brian Lenihan are now
being reviled as the villains who inflicted horrendous
financial disaster upon the Irish people and forced the
enslavement of future generations to a criminal cadre
ofInternational Banksters.
The words ‘treason’, ‘traitors’, and ‘treachery’ are
being increasingly used not only by ordinary citizens
but also by certain politicians, economists, business
leaders, and celebrities. ‘Economic treason’ was a term
used by the leader of the Labour Party to describe
Cowen and Lenihan’s blanket guarantee to the banks.
And, incredibly, even the country’s ostensibly non-
partisan police association, the GRA, accused the
government of ‘treachery’ and denounced it as a
‘government ofnational sabotage’.
Today, Cowen and Lenihan are being compared to
other traitors in history like Vidkun Quisling, a
Norwegian politician who assisted the Nazis to
conquer his native country; General Benedict Arnold,
an American soldier who changed sides during the
Revolution and betrayed his country to the British; and
even Judas Iscariot, who betrayed his Master for 30
pieces ofsilver.
What did Cowen and Lenihan do to earn such public
loathing?

2. On September 29th, 2008, a momentous event
occurred. That evening, four of the most senior
executives of Ireland’s two largest high street
banks, Dermot Gleeson and Eugene Sheehy of
Allied Irish Bank (AIB) and Brian Goggin and
Richard Burrows of Bank of Ireland (BOI),
called to Government Buildings for a hastily
convened meeting with the Taoiseach, Brian
Cowen, and the Minister for Finance, Brian
Lenihan. Also present was the Irish Attorney-
General, Paul Gallagher.
The banksters were frantic. As the property
bubble was beginning to burst, their main rival,
Anglo Irish Bank, was in serious trouble and the
huge loss of liquidity could bring down the
country’s entire financial system. Like Anglo
Irish, AIB and BOI also had massive exposure to
the developers and all were in danger of
imminent collapse. The banksters implored the
Government to do something, immediately,
before the money markets opened the following
morning.
Having received such stark news from the
banksters, Cowen and Lenihan knew they had to
move quickly and decisively. They would have
to act, and be seen to act, without bias and
without favouring any special interest groups.
Their first duty was to ensure the welfare of the
nation as a whole and to safeguard the financial
interests ofall the Irish people.
But in this they failed utterly. One special
interest group, the banksters, prevailed
spectacularly over the interests of the Irish
people. How did the banksters manage to wield
such inordinate influence over crucial
governmental policy?
A key disturbing fact about this meeting was
never commented upon in the mainstream media.
On the government side of the table sat Paul
Gallagher, the Attorney-General, legal adviser to
the Irish Government. On the banksters’ side of
the table sat Dermot Gleeson, the AIB chairman
and himself a former Irish Attorney-General.
But, apart from both men holding the senior law
office of the land, a more sinister connection
between them remained undisclosed. They were
both Bilderbergers.
The Bilderbergers
For those who haven’t heard of the
Bilderbergers, they are a brotherhood of
unelected international banksters, corporatists,
politicians, and others who meet secretly every
year to formulate and manipulate world policy in
finance, economics, trade, and any other area
that they can control for their own selfish,
globalist interests.
It may well be that the presence of the two
Bilderbergers, Gleeson and Gallagher, was just a
coincidence but, considering such incredibly
high stakes, it can be argued that Gallagher’s
attendance as Attorney-General at such a crucial
meeting generated a monumental conflict of
interest. His Bilderberger connection clearly
compromised him as legal adviser to the Irish
Government, especially when his Bilderberger
pal, Gleeson, was about to be on the receiving
end ofa whopping government bailout.
After a surprisingly short discussion with some
members of the cabinet, the Attorney-General,
and top civil servants, Cowen and Lenihan
arrived at an ominous decision. They decided
that the Government would guarantee all the
liabilities of six Irish banks – not just customer
and interbank deposits but also the full exposure
of all bondholders! This amounted to some 450
billion euro, an astronomical figure which, if
ever called upon, would destroy the country.
With the stroke of a pen Cowen and Lenihan
shifted hundreds of billions of private debt
incurred by greedy, fraudulent banksters and
dumped it onto the backs of the Irish people.
This was an incredible act of treachery against
the Irish nation. What could possess these two
politicians to put their people into impossible
debt and penury – perhaps for generations – just
to save a few mega-rich banksters from taking a
loss on their reckless gambling? Was it utter
ineptitude or was it something more sinister than
that?
As Marcellus said to Horatio in Shakespeare’s
Hamlet, ‘Something is rotten in the State of
Denmark.’ He said ‘Denmark’, but he might well
have been describing present-day Ireland. This
bank guarantee deal stinks to high heaven!
Inflicting a risk exposure of €450 billion on the
Irish nation was tantamount to state suicide. The
willing and needless placement of an entire
people into such peril could only be the result of
criminal incompetence or criminal collusion.
There could be no other explanation, except, of
course, criminal insanity. Take your pick. Are
Cowen and Lenihan criminally inept, corrupt,
insane or all ofthe above?
To put the enormity of the hazard to the nation
into perspective let’s compare it to U.S Treasury
Secretary Hank Paulson’s 2008 bank bailout of
$700 billion which was then strenuously
opposed by the great majority of the American
people. The Irish bailout was the equivalent of
more than $585 billion dollars, not a far cry from
the $700 billion that so appalled and angered
most Americans. Consider that the U.S. has a
population of 300 million while Ireland only has
a population of less than 4.5 million, much the
same as the state ofLouisiana.
At 3.30am the four bankers left. According to
Shane Ross, author of ‘Bankers’, they had ‘put
the gun to the Government’s head and the
ministers had delivered.’
Ireland was aghast. Cowen and Lenihan said the
bailout was necessary to preserve Ireland’s
creditworthiness with ‘the markets’. This was
hogwash and was said so by many people at the
time, including leading economists. (The fallacy
of the ministers’ thinking is borne out by the
approach of the plucky Icelandic people who
refused to take on private bankster debt and
whose economy is now in a much healthier
position than that of Ireland.) But Lenihan
persisted with the bailout declaring that it would
be ‘the cheapest bailout in history’. Those words,
like the ghost in Hamlet, would soon come back
to haunt him.
Cowen and Lenihan then proceeded to pour
taxpayers’ money into the banks, capitalizing the
high street lenders to the tune of some €13.5
billion. This figure did not even include the
requirements of Anglo Irish Bank, the biggest
culprit of fraudulent lending, who Lenihan said
could be saved with a €4 billion bailout. As time
progressed the Minister of Finance continually
revised his figures upwards, going to €12
billion, €18 billion, €24 billion, and now the
figure is hovering around €35 billion. The Irish
people will never see a single cent ofthe tens of
billions poured into that black hole that is Anglo
Irish Bank. This cannot be described as anything
other than an act ofoutrageous criminality.
NAMA
Another fiasco in the making, the brainchild of
Lenihan and Cowen, is NAMA (National Asset
Management Agency), set up to restore the
banks’ balance sheets by buying their toxic loans
to the tune of some €54 billion of taxpayer’s
money. This is another huge and needless risk
that is likely to go disastrously wrong and which
hangs eternally over Irish taxpayers like the
Sword of Damocles. The slightest
miscalculation and the sword falls – with
devastating effect.
This writer, and many others, pointed out at the
time that there was a much better short-term
solution to the Irish banking problem. The
Government could have let the banks fail –
that’s what happens in capitalism when
businesses are reckless or make mistakes – and
set up a state bank. A state bank could have
created all the credit the country needed with a
much, much smaller outlay. Through fractional
reserve lending, a bank can create some twelve
and a half times the amount of credit that it
holds in assets. For example, if a state bank is
capitalised with €10 billion it can lend out €125
billion. With only €20 billion in capital a state
bank could create and lend out €250 billion.
This would have boosted Irish businesses and
given the economy a huge injection and would
have obviated the need to go back to the
exploitative money markets.
(It is important to point out that this would be a
short-term solution only. The real cause of
global financial chaos and prohibitive national
debt is the permitting of private banking cartels
to create a nation’s money, money that is based
on debt and bears interest and which makes an
immense fortune for the international banksters
– to the impoverishment ofthe people.)
But Cowen and Lenihan seemed not to be
focussed on what was good and efficacious for
the people of Ireland but on how to save a few
criminal banksters from incurring gigantic
losses.
Before the bank guarantees, Ireland had a
manageable sovereign debt. But after taking on
the private debts of reckless, fraudulent
banksters Cowen and Lenihan drove Ireland into
insolvency. Interest on Irish government bonds
rose dramatically and threatened to destabilise
the Euro. Uncertainty about Ireland’s ability to
handle its deficit caused unrest in Portuguese
and Spanish bond markets. There were concerns
too about Belgium and Italy. The EU, fearful
that panic and contagion would spread and
collapse the Euro, bullied the Irish Government
Actions that should be taken as a matter of urgency:
• Defaulting on private bankster debt which is not a just or
proper debt of the Irish people.
• Leave the Euro and return to the Irish Punt. (And consider
leaving the EU altogether and take back control of our seas
which have been plundered of hundreds of billions of euro of
fish stock by other EU nations.)
• End Fractional Reserve Banking and take the power of money
creation back from private, criminal banking cartels. The
Government would then issue debt-free, interest-free money for
the benefit of all the people.
• Spend this debt-free money on hospitals, education,
sustainable energy, ports & harbours, transportation, roads, and
infrastructure such as the 100+ year old water and sewage
systems that are about to collapse.
• Take full control of all oil, gas, and mineral deposits on land
and within our territorial waters.
• Pay a monthly dividend, or basic income, to every adult and
child, such as that described in Social Credit or as explained in
‘The Cook Plan’ by Richard C. Cook.
• Promote organic farming so that we are more self-sufficient
and need to import less and less foreign foodstuffs.
• Encourage the use of natural medicines and natural health
therapies so that the people have real freedom of choice.
• Reduce the number of seats in parliament, abolish the senate
and useless quangos, and use the internet more to interface with
our politicians and government.
• Make the Mainstream Media truly independent so that they will
return to being the proper watchdogs of the people.
• Promote the arts and artists so that we may discover our true
spiritual nature and live in peace and harmony and abundance
on this wondrous planet of ours.
If a new Irish government implements the actions listed above, the
country will quickly achieve unrivalled prosperity and contentment and
could well become a guiding light for momentous reform in other
nations of the world.

3. into taking a joint EU/IMF bailout. The high
placed members of the self-serving Brussels elite
were willing to impose hardship and needless
austerity upon the people of Ireland in order to
save their precious Euro and to preserve their
positions ofopulence and power.
The Irish economy per se did not need a bailout,
but Irish banks did. The IMF does not lend to
banks but only to sovereign countries. (That way,
they can force a country to bleed its taxpayers to
get their money back.) Cowen and Lenihan then
proceeded to sell the idea of an EU/IMF loan to
the country as a ‘rescue package’ for the Irish
nation. This was a complete lie. It was a rescue
package mainly for German, British, and French
banks who had recklessly and greedily loaned
billions to Irish banks during the Celtic Tiger
boom.
David McWilliams, Irish economist, broadcaster,
and writer, says of the IMF, "It is not here to bail
us out; it is here to bail [the banks] out. The
bailout is a bailout for the banks ofGermany and
France and the Irish taxpayer foots the bill. It is
that simple. And where will the EU and IMF
money come from? It will be borrowed from the
very investment banks that will be bailed out. So
they will get interest payments from us, in order
that we pay for their mistakes."
This view is echoed by Dr. Constantin Gurdgiev,
adjunct lecturer in Finance at Trinity College,
Dublin, who likens the ECB/IMF bailout to
‘corporate welfare’ (as opposed to social
welfare)."‘It’s worse than corporate welfare, it’s
corporate welfare with a massive moral hazard
loaded on top. This is an undemocratic,
corporatist transfer of wealth from ordinary
citizens to a tiny group of people: bank
bondholders…"
Just Who ARE the Bondholders?
Just who are these precious bondholders that
Cowen and Lenihan would bind and bankrupt the
country in order to make up their ‘gambling’
losses?
Senator and presidential hopeful David Norris
tried to read out their names under parliamentary
privilege in the Irish Senate but was quickly
silenced. It seems that Cowen and Lenihan and
the Irish Government do not want the people to
know that they have been put into debt
slavery for the benefit of some of the
wealthiest, most fraudulent banksters in
the world. The names of these
bondholders are now a matter of public
record, thanks to investigative journalists
like Guido Fawkes (www.order-
order.com).
Some of the more familiar names among
the four score or so major bondholders are
Goldman Sachs, one of the most despised
banks on Wall Street whose name is
synonymous with greed, sleaze, and fraud.
Max Keiser, broadcaster and former
broker & options trader, says, ‘Goldman
Sachs are scum. I mean that’s the bottom
line. They have basically co-opted the
U.S. Government, they have co-opted the
Treasury Department, the Federal Reserve
functionality. They’ve co-opted the
Obama administration. And Barack
Obama dances to Goldman Sach’s tune.
They are really crooked and abominable
in what they’ve done.’
Keiser continues, with remarkable
candour, "Just remember, Hank Paulson
held Congress hostage, took them in the
back room and said give us $700 billion or we’re
gonna crash the market. He’s an arsonist; he’s an
outlaw. And yet he’s given praise. Ifyou go down
the list, they’re all Goldman Sachs scum, whether
it’s Hank Paulson, whether it’s Geithner…you
know Geithner has very strong ties to Goldman
Sachs…and of course all these banking bonuses
are paid out to all their cronies who are Goldman
Sachs scum."
Another Anglo Irish Bank bondholder is the
Rothschilds Bank, Zurich; the Rothschild family
are reputed to have owned half the wealth of
Europe a century and a half ago – how much do
they own now? And most of the remaining
bondholders are worth an accumulation of some
twenty trillion euro. An Irish default would
involve such an insignificant fraction of their
wealth that it would hardly cause them to raise
their eyebrows. Yet Cowen and Lenihan forced
crippling debt upon the Irish people for many
years to come in order to repay the banksters
every single cent oftheir reckless investments.
One great irony amid all this debt and despair is
the great wealth recently discovered in the gas
fields off the west coast of Ireland. The Corrib
gas field alone is reckoned to be worth well over
€420 billion, enough to pay off all of Ireland’s
debts and make the country vastly rich.
According to the Petroleum Affairs Division
there is even more gas and oil off the west coast,
perhaps as much as 13 trillion euro or beyond,
enough to make millionaires of every man,
woman, and child in Ireland.
What did the Irish Government do with this €420
billion windfall from the Corrib field? They gave
it away to Royal Dutch Shell for nothing. Yes,
nothing! In an incredible move, the government
cut the State’s share from 50% to zero on all its
offshore oil and gas and abolished all royalties.
Why would they do such a crazy thing?
For an answer to that you’ll have to ask the then
minister, Ray Burke, who was later convicted and
jailed for political corruption on other matters.
Royal Dutch Shell, with its monthly revenues
fluctuating between $25 billion and $45 billion,
certainly doesn’t need the money as much as the
Irish people do. Royal Dutch Shell is a key
Bilderberg asset; its principal shareholder is
Queen Beatrix of Holland, a long-time member
of Bilderberg which was founded by her father,
◙ Neil Foster
So, we have a challenge to Brian Cowen’s
‘leadership’.
Is that what we call the betrayal of the country
these days?
Does anyone really think that another puppet
put in power by those in the shadows will
make the slightest difference to the state of the
country?
Is a different puppet politician going to roll
back the massive fraudulent banker ‘bailouts’
and give the people a refund?
Will a different puppet politician take back the
massive oil and gas reserves of the West coast
that were corruptly given away for FREE to the
queen of Holland (Small ‘q’ deliberate!) that
could make this country the richest in Europe
wiping out all debts of the country and giving
every citizen in Ireland a quality of life
unsurpassed in the Western world?
Does anyone think another puppet political
party will do these things?
The simple answer is ‘NO’!
None of these parasitical traitors serve the
people of Ireland. They only serve themselves
through corruption and fraud for the ultimate
benefit of their elite banking masters. Make no
mistake, these politicians, apart form being low
level psychopaths, are criminals. They also
believe themselves to be part ofthe big picture
in their delusions of grandeur when in reality
they are the ‘bottom feeders’ and ‘useful idiots’
in a pyramidal system which will ultimately
destroy them and their families as much as they
have destroyed the lives of generations of
ordinary citizens ofthe country.
Perhaps the people of Ireland may wake up to
the tyranny being perpetrated upon them before
poverty and utter despair take hold?
Perhaps the people of Ireland in cooperation
with the police services, including the army,
will finally see that there is a prison being built
around them which will resemble nothing less
than a reservation run by the lackeys of the
British empire who still pull the strings of
power today in Ireland.
Any Irish politician, newspaper editor,
businessman, so called ‘expert’ eCONomists
and other traitorous ‘patheticos’ who go along
with this sick and utterly corrupt system should
be routed from office and positions of
influence and charged with treason with the
appropriate maximum sentence.
Perhaps we could start with Cowen when he
bows out, no doubt into a cushy job given to
him by his banker slavemasters?

Giving these plutocrats billions, and perhaps
trillions, in oil and gas for absolutely nothing is
criminally obscene and utterly enraging. These
energy resources rightfully belong to the Irish
people and it’s not for individual politicians,
whether corrupt or incompetent, to give them
away for nothing.
Looking forward, there will soon be a new
government in Ireland. It is now time for the
Irish people to take a firm stand. In the coming
election campaign they must warn incoming
government hopefuls that there HAS to be
radical change. The criminal pledges of an
outgoing government of traitors MUST be
dismantled and consigned to the trash can, along
with their authors. The people will not stand for
more ofthe same old deceitful gombeen politics;
they are in no mood for mealy-mouthedness or
ineffectual tinkering with a failed system. They
demand nothing less than clear, decisive, and
even ruthless change. They demand leaders of
integrity, innovation, and courage. And they
demand a decent living for themselves, their
children, and future generations yet unborn.
There can be no going back!

Some people seem to think that different
political parties or allegiances can help solve
this problem, for example that Sinn Fein are
really against Fianna Fail, when they are really
just hijacking the mood in the country.
Politicians will not solve anything, they are not
trained in it. They don’t actually know how to
look at the problems ofthe country and figure
out how to solve them. They are trained in basic
book-cooking and NLP, (Neuro Linguistic
Programming) on how to present bad news well
and smile for the cameras for the propaganda
pieces we see on RTE and the nation press such
as The Irish Independent & The Irish Times.
The politicians are merely figureheads for the
large financiers and banking interests that long
ago bought this country. Complaining about a
politician’s “decisions”, telling them to change
or voting for a different one can be closely
compared to the pop music industry.
Imagine for a second that you don’t like Britney
Spears latest album: you think the video is
woeful, you think the lyrics are unfit for
children, you don’t like the album cover and the
actual copy you bought skips on track 13. Ofall
ofthese things, there is very little you can do.
MAYBE ifyou went to the shop and made a
fuss they’d exchange the copy for you but that’s
it. They won’t give you a refund, they’ll just
give you another copy ofthe same woeful
album. Standing outside the HMV you bought it
from picketing against Britney isn’t going to do
anything. Neither is going to HMV head office.
You might get a €10 gift voucher at most.
Breaking into Britney’s house and threatening
that you’ll burn it down unless she does
something is not going to change anything. She
doesn’t have any power, she is just a figurehead
for Britney Spears Inc. Certain people write her
lyrics, other guys do her videos, someone else
composes her “music”, another team markets
the album to children, another team outsources
printing ofthe CDs, etc. Almost none ofthese
people are DIRECTLY controlled by the
industry, they are not afraid ofthe Man Behind
the Curtain, they don’t know the whole agenda,
but they are cogs in it. Cogs that know their
place. Cogs that know not to rock the boat or
they lose their job. They are part ofone big
machine.
In the current political & economic global
system even ifyou got a chance to take down
or, as some have threatened to do at recent
marches, kill all the people that you think are
the problem, they would be soon replaced by
someone else. Nobody would even have to
choose to replace them, it would just happen
organically, like leaving a parking space free in
the City Centre. We can’t expect to change
anything by taking down the government, or
even the bankers that control it. It is the 5000
year
old, hierarchical, pyramid shaped tyrannical
system that is wrong. The system needs to
change. No one has the right to tell you what to
do or demand money from you, least ofall
some corrupt government!
What is the best way to make this change?
Think about the music industry again and the
answer becomes obvious. Stop supporting the
system. Stop legitimising the system by voting
for criminals. Stop paying taxes NOW where it
is within your power to do so. They are only
going to be used to fund the next generation of
Irish Bank bondholders, such as the famous
Rothschild dynasty. All income tax is used for is
to pay offthe so-called “National/Sovereign
Debt”. A Sovereign cannot be indebted to a
fictional entity like a corporation/government.
We need selfgovernance and community level
co-ordination on employing private companies
to do the work the state overcharged us on,
different areas with different currencies for that
area, or a LETS (short explanation needed)
system, and a currency for international trading,
backed by our oil reserves, rather than DEBT,
and a voluntary law system based on common
law; “Do no harm, cause no loss; your rights
end where others begin”.
The only politician I’d ever listen to (and still
be wary of) is one who plans on reducing
corporation status to less than that ofa human
being and dissolving outdated ideas like land
ownership and corporations owning anything.
No more income tax. We don’t need it! VAT
pays for services that we use. No more
complying with the Gardai on non-criminal
acts. They are acting as revenue collectors for a
fascist government and it’s time they realised
that and return to their oath to the people.

WHAT IS DIRECT DEMOCRACY?
Direct democracy is a system of government that gives
citizens the ability to have a say in government
decisions, and allows them to propose or veto legislation
and other initiatives. It also gives citizens the power to
recall or sack elected representatives or ministers who
are not working for the interest of the people. A number
of countries around the world successfully use direct
democracy provisions, including Switzerland. There is a
growing trend worldwide and burgeoning fervour
towards the concept of direct democracy, such as in the
UK and US.
AHISTORY OF DIRECTDEMOCRACY IN
IRELAND
The founding fathers ofthe Constitution ofthe Irish Free
State (1922) gave the powers of initiative and
referendum to the Irish people, in articles 47 & 48.
However, these rights were never implemented as the
first party to get into power removed these rights from
the people of Ireland and gave those powers to
themselves. Now only a challenge to the Constitution, or
the politicians can initiate a referendum. DDI aims to
reintroduce these rights to end hypocrisy ofwhat we call
democracy in the Republic ofIreland.

government or the majority party in parliament controls
the referenda agenda, they just schedule other
referendums until the people vote the way they want,
and 'then and only then' it is a binding outcome. This is
called a Plebiscite. The people complain that 'this is not
democratic', but it is, because through the constitution
'we the sovereign people ofIreland' give the government
the power to do so. No signatures need to be gathered,
no major debate, the parliament just votes to schedule
another referendum.
DIRECT DEMOCRACY
When the people control the referendum agenda, then
the outcome of the vote is binding, 'NO means NO and
YES means YES'. When the people control the agenda,
the people gather enough signatures to have a
referendum on 'whatever issue, whenever they want',
and the outcome is binding. In this definition of
democracy, only the constitution or the people can cause
a referendum to happen, not the government. Let's be
clear, the government has NO POWER to schedule a
referendum, only the people or the constitution does.
This is called 'Direct Democracy'.
DEMOCRACY 2.0!
Irish referenda are triggered by the constitution and
controlled by the parliament. To change this, we need to
change the Irish constitution. If the EU can change our
constitution from the top down, then 'we the sovereign
people of Ireland' can certainly change it from the
bottom up. This single act would strengthen the
democratic power of the people and truly upgrade Irish
democracy.
CAN WE DO THIS?
The concept of direct democracy is not new in Ireland
and the people previously did have Direct Democratic
powers in the Constitution ofthe Irish Free State (1922)
given to them by their founding fathers under articles 47
& 48. In the same document, Article 50 gave the
Oireachtas the power to amend the constitution if the
newly amended constitution is put up for a referendum
vote within 2 years. In 1928 the Irish Democracy was
severely weakened when the presiding Oireachtas
amended the constitution by removing Articles 47 & 48.
This one act ended the people's right to initiate
referendum as a way to have a final say in the political
decision making process.
An organization called Direct Democracy Ireland aims
to reintroduce these rights to end this hypocrisy of what
we call democracy. DDi will be supporting all
candidates in the next general elections who recognise
the need for direct democracy and will fully commit to
having it entered into legislation. This is the perfect
time to do it. We can focus the resulting 'anger and
outrage' to push the idea of a constitutional change
through. If successful the people's voice will be
returned, and Ireland will once again become a
sovereign nation. What are the bigger picture
implications of this strategy for Europe? The short
answer is that if Ireland makes this change, then Ireland
can truly lead the way to a more democratic Europe.
HERE'S WHY
The beauty ofdirect democracy is that the people can let
their leaders legislate with the comfort of knowing that
they can step in at any time, create a referendum, and
change or 'throw out' new or old laws when they begin
to affect their lives in negative ways. Politicians will not
push for unpopular laws when they know the people can
step in and throw them out. This means that the Irish
people can allow the EU to continue unifying and step
in with referendum veto powers on future EU laws or
competencies that do not serve them. You will not need
to understand all the intricacies of each treaty, hardly
anyone does, however you will know that you have the
ability to change what it is to live with their results.
Switzerland has had 'direct democracy', for more than
150 years. Switzerland is a federation of26 autonomous
cantons or provinces (the EU has 27 countries) and is
considered the most advanced democracy on the planet.
They have 'direct democracy' on every level of
government; local, regional and national. To the Swiss
it's all about preserving and expanding the citizen's
sovereign power ofreferendum.
'Power to the People'.

5. As Ireland’s government steers the
country into an economic black hole
there are many of us left scratching
our heads as to why they are not using the
massive wealth of this nation to fund the
recovery and our future, and to tell the
bankers where to go with their imaginary
gambling debts.
As I’ve watched this country self-destruct over
the last two years since the derivatives bubble
was burst, I ask myself why is it happening?
Why in a country rich with investment, talent,
and resources and with a reasonably healthy
economy with good exports, is the whole thing
spiraling into a never ending cycle ofun-payable
debt? Believe me it is un-payable, just like all the
third world debt issued by the IMF and World
Bank before this.
We all know by now that the bankrupt
international banks, who issue credit out of thin
air, crippled the industries that support our jobs
and thus our economy and sent the whole world
crashing into what many believe from
understanding history, is a deliberate recession
from which, as history shows, the main banks
will once again come out the other side more
wealthy and larger than before. One need only
look at the 1907 and 1929 crashes to see this
consolidation process in action in the years that
followed.
None of us Joe Public were in particularly
problematic debt. Just the normal loans for a
home and a car, nothing special. Nothing we
couldn’t manage on our salaries. Yet still here we
are now indebted, by the actions ofa government
with no mandate, to the tune of around €18,000
for every man, woman and child in the country.
The interest alone will cost around €3,000 per
year in extra taxes for every working person in
the country before any of the principle loan is
paid off.
So how are we expected to pay back this loan for
a debt that we never incurred in the first place? A
debt that only exists in the ups and downs of
market values and shares in a fictional world of
computerised credit, and not a single solid asset
in sight. Yes, you guessed it. We are to pay the
fictional debt with our real assets. Those being
our labour, our children’s labour and our
grandchildren’s labour, as well as the selling off
of our public services to private corporations
owned by the banks to be run for profit by them.
These will include our roads for tolling, our
health services, our utilities like the ESB and
Bord Gais, and our water suppliers, even our
ports and airports.
It doesn’t stop there though because as well as
these institutions and all their associated assets,
which will undoubtedly be asset stripped, the
bankers are looking to take our €20+ billion of
national pension fund which has been
accumulated to pay the pensions ofthe people of
Ireland in just such a difficult period. Finally, and
the nub of this article, the international bankers
will be given by our government the country’s
tangible wealth in the form ofland, minerals, our
forestry, and most importantly our fuel resources
in gas and oil.
Unbeknown to most people in Ireland, this
country is one of the wealthiest countries in the
world for natural mineral wealth. An inspection
ofthe applications for mining licenses will reveal
among other precious minerals like zinc and
lead, a wealth ofsilver and gold buried under the
ground. In fact the volumes of minerals found in
Ireland per square mile make it the richest
country in the world for mineral deposits. This is
very valuable and why this has not been
exploited is unexplained. Yet there is another
kind ofgold that Ireland possesses in spades that
is being exploited now. The black gold !
Off the west coast of Ireland there is an
enormous volume of oil and gas. The
government (Dept. of Communications, Energy
Natural Resources) themselves valued west coast
deposits in 2008 at €540 billion although the
price ofoil and gas then was a fraction ofwhat it
is now. This is a resource that could give
everyone in Ireland free energy in the same way
that Norway funnel their oil wealth to their
people, and still make huge profits selling energy
to the UK and Europe.
The Corrib oil field currently being exploited by
Shell, that we hear about for all the wrong
reasons, is the only oil and gas field the public
are aware of, but there are huge basins ofoil and
gas known to exist off Limerick and Kerry. One
in particular called Dunquin gas field which is a
proven field and is described by the operator
(Exxon/Mobil) as “one of the biggest fields in
the world” containing an estimated 25 trillion
cubic feet ofgas and over 4 billion barrels ofoil.
This alone could keep Ireland running for over
60 years.
The reserves off the west and north west coasts
in total have been estimated at around 130 billion
barrels of oil and 50 trillion cubic feet of gas. A
virtual underwater Saudi Arabia. Yet it doesn’t
end there. The Lough Allen Basin is a huge
inland gas field in the northwest which has been
known for some 40 years now and contains 9.4
trillion cubic feet of gas. Enough to power
Ireland for the next 25 years but it has has yet to
be tapped. There are known fields off the south
coast that have yet to be announced.
Furthermore, new oil and gas basins have been
announced this year off the coast of Dublin by
Tony O’Reilly’s company Providence
Resources and it’s UK partners.
O’Reilly is also partnering Exxon in
Dunquin. The east coast fields have been
estimated in the hundreds of billions in
value to Ireland and yet along with the
riches of the west and south, the inland
gas and the wealth of minerals that we
are literally tripping over here, we are
still bankrupt ! Does this make any sense
to you?
Unfortunately over the last 35 years
successive governments have eliminated
all ofIreland’s rights to capitalise on it’s
own resources. They have legislated
away their percentage share of the gas
and oil down from 50% to 0%. Yes zero.
So the oil and gas is wholly owned by
the oil companies royalty free.
Successive ministers like Ray Burke and
Bertie Ahern have been instrumental in
this process which even saw the
reduction in tax on oil profits to only
25% where other countries charge
almost 70%. This also is only payable
after all exploration and development
costs are deducted as well as future
decommissioning costs which
effectively negates the corporation tax
too.
Ireland should be the richest country in
Europe with the majority ofEurope’s oil
and gas and fishing waters, as well as
the richest mineral deposits. Yet our
government has given the fisheries away
to the EU, many of the mining
operations are owned by foreign
companies and now all the energy
reserves have been given away to large
multinational companies who are under
no obligation to even sell the gas or oil
to Ireland and we will be forced to buy
our own gas and oil back at market
prices from the oil giants.
This situation cannot possibly be
accidental. The legislating away of our
resources was a deliberate act and in this
writers opinion it would seem to be a
criminal act of some description. This
kind of intergenerational legislative
deceit could only be done with
cooperation and foreknowledge and
looks on the surface to be the biggest
fraud ever perpetrated in the history of
the state.
It even far exceeds the apparent fraud of
the bank bailout wherein we the people
are paying off UK and German banks,
who held high risk bonds in bad banks,
by using loans from the very same UK
and German banks to pay their bonds,
and we are charged interest for the
privilege of bailing out their gambling
debts to boot. Does this seem right to anyone
except our politicians? Nobody of sound mind
could fail to see the deliberate fraud of this and
the role being played by our government in
assisting this.
When the government accept this IMF bailout
they will be relinquishing control of the nation
and handing over the financial management of
the country to the IMF, which in effect is only a
front for the UK and German banks that funded
the bailout. It is therefore they who will decide
that Irelands assets are sold off and to who.
Watch this space and we will find with very little
investigation that subsidiary companies of the
banks may well benefit greatly from this fire
sale.
Already Bertie Ahern in his cushy new job as
head of the International Forestry Fund, a
corporation set up by a Swiss financial services
provider Helvetia Wealth AG, is bidding to buy
and privatise Coalite, which controls all Irelands
forestry. This would mean 7% of Ireland’s land
mass would be in the hands of one of these
international banks. It was a recommendation of
the An Bord Snip Nua report in 2009 and the
appointment ofAhern in 2010 tells me that this
was probably already a done deal before the
bailout ever reared it’s head.
The level ofcollusion to pull offthis takeover of
assets has to go to the highest levels of
government in order to orchestrate this over such
a long period of time, because not only was the
oil and gas legislation nullified but so was the
banking control legislation in the same period.
Indeed ifwe look to those people who have been
in positions ofpower and also regularly attended
secret meetings like the annual Bilderberg
meeting or the Tri-lateral Commission meeting
along with all of these bankers, oil companies,
other multinationals and politicians in Europe
and worldwide, then we may be seeing the root
of the conflict of interests of our own politicians
and should ask who are they really working for?
If these meetings aren’t shady enough it is made
more suspicious by the fact that the Tri-lateral
Commission meeting this year was held over
three days in Dublin this Spring, without ever
getting a mention on the national news despite
300 of the world’s richest and most powerful
people being in Dublin and being dined by the
President.
If we want to know why we are being asset
stripped, then this is a good place to start to find
your culprits.

Please cut out and post to:
Dear John,
Ireally hope you take the time to read this letter because, after all, you are a
public representative - elected by the people ofIreland.
Ijust need to know what your stance is on this urgent health issue, which Iknow
you are familiar with.
On RTE's Prime Time program a few years back, you categorically stated that
fluoride was not safe for babies and that baby’s milk formula should not be made
with fluoridated water.
You also claimed that fluoridation ofthe water was also linked to bone cancer.
Which brings me to my next point, becuse you are the man spearheading the
roll-out ofwater meters to all homes on the island ofIreland.
Ifyou, yourself, do not recommend fluoridation ofthe public water supply as
being safe for human consumption, why is it then john, that since you have been
elected to government, you have not led a campaign to remove this toxin from
the public water supply?
And why is it John, that you now want to TAXus on this toxic water supply
through the introduction ofyour water meters?
So, John, have you completely flip-flopped on this issue and decided to put the
public’s health aside and humiliate them even further by taxing them for this
toxin when you, by your own admission, believe fluoridation ofthe water supply
is unsafe for human consumption.
Please Respond To This John.
The Public Have A Right To Know.
All the Best John,

To most people the modern world is a
wonderful thing to behold. For many,
we are at the peak of our society. We
have fast cars, wireless internet, mobile
phones and above all we, in the Western
World, are very comfortable and a lot of us
are well off being so comfortable. Many
people cast a blind eye to the wrongs in the
world however, if we look beneath the surface
of the supposed “peak of society”, it is very
obvious to see that all is not well.
Take health for example. Everyone knows the old
saying “Your health is your wealth”. Ifwe take
this into consideration, the wealth ofa society
depends upon the health ofthe individuals within
that society –Are we as wealthy as we think?
Let’s take a look ofthe overall health ofthe
people in the Western World and many ofthe
diseases that affect us:
• Heart disease is the number one killer of
people in Ireland, England, America, Canada
and Wales. In 2007 nearly 131,00 adults in the
Republic ofIreland and over 75,000 adults in
Northern Ireland had a coronary heart
condition. (CHD, angina and heart attack)
according to www.publichealth.ie.
• Cancer is almost considered to be a common
disease in these modern times. In 2007, cancer
caused about 13% ofall human deaths which
is about 7.6 million people. In Ireland in 2006,
7,868 people died ofcancer according to The
National Cancer Registry Ireland. One in
three people will also get cancer in their
lifetime according to Cancer Research UK
and The Cancer Prevention Society.
• Strokes are the leading cause ofadult
disability in the United States and Europe.
Strokes are also the number two cause of
death worldwide.
• In 2006, there were 26.6 million sufferers of
Alzheimer’s disease worldwide, the first case
ofwhich was not identified until 1901.
• In 2000, at least 171 million people
worldwide were suffering from diabetes.
• Arthritis and other rheumatic conditions
have been diagnosed in 21% ofAmerica
adults. Nearly two-thirds ofarthritis patients
are under 65. More than 60% ofarthritis
patients are women. By 2030, the number of
people with arthritis is expected to rise to 67
million, reflecting a 40% increase by today‘s
standards.
This is before we even get onto auto immune
disorders like chronic fatigue syndrome, Epstein-
Barr virus, lupus, fibromyalgia, andAIDS; not to
mention obesity, back problems, lung disease,
depression, anxiety and even suicide.
Looking at the rise in these diseases, one must to
question where this has rise has come from. In
my opinion, I think it may be because we have
moved away from being ‘natural man’ to
‘modern man‘. ‘Natural man’ lived close to
nature, eating with the seasons, what was
growing naturally around him. As a result we ate
a more balanced diet. ‘Modern man’ lives in a
high stress environment, pollution is everywhere.
Food is eaten on the go and with as much
convenience as possible. Statistics from the
Institute ofOptimum Health give a better idea as
to how our diet has changed significantly over
time:
• The Caveman ate a diet that consisted of
about 45% carbohydrates, 34% protein and
21% fat.
• The Peasant Farmer would have eaten a diet
consisting ofabout 75% carbohydrates, 12%
protein and 13% fat.
• Modern Man eats about 28% carbohydrates,
12% protein, 40% fat and 20% sugar.
• Our ideal diet should consist ofabout 60%
carbohydrates, 15% protein and 25% fat. *
Let’s take a closer look at what ‘modern man’
actually eats. In the last century – particularly the
last three decades – we have started to eat more
fats, ofthe wrong kind, much more sugar and
refined carbohydrates. Ifwe look at modern
lifestyle we see that the more and more it speeds
up, the less time we have to prepare fresh food
and we are becoming more reliant on processed
foods. Most ofthe companies who produce these
processed foods care little for our health and
wellbeing. They work as a means to gain profit.
This food is often highly refined as it lasts longer
and is stuffed with chemicals so that it looks and
tastes artificially appealing. In the process it is
stripped ofall its essential nutrients. Therefore
these foods simply fill you instead ofactually
feeding you.
Ifyou consider your body to be a machine, then
you must consider your fuel. It is common
knowledge that ifyou put bad fuel in your
machine it won’t run at its optimum performance
level. Why should your body be any different?
Our bodies, as human beings, are made up of
two-thirds water, one-quarter protein. The rest is
fat with a few vitamins and minerals. There is not
a single cell in your body that lives longer than
seven years. You are not the same person you
were a decade ago as your cells are constantly
dying and repairing. Therefore every single
molecule in your body comes from water and
food you eat. In order to keep the body
functioning we must continue to replace the basic
composition.
Our environment plays a big part in not only our
physical wellbeing but also our physiological,
mental and spiritual wellbeing. The environment
many people find themselves in is drastically
different to that ofour ancestors. Cities and
towns are now common place. There is the hustle
and bustle ofworking life. In order to sustain a
life, many people find themselves working the
majority oftheir lives with long hours, little time
for friends, family, food preparation and
relaxation the norm. In built up areas there is
rarely peace and quiet. Many ofus shop in
multinational supermarkets with little
consideration as to where our food actually
comes from or some ofthe ingredients that we
find in them. Even for those ofus who are
concerned, food labels do not tell you
everything.
FRUIT and VEG
Let’s start with our fruit and vegetables. Five a
day is what they say. However most ofus do not
take into account how this food is grown. Unless
you eat only organic, one in three foods you buy
contains traces ofpesticides. According to Dr.
Patrick Holford, from the Institute ofOptimum
Health – the amount offruit and vegetables
consumed by the average human being in a year
has the equivalent ofup to 4.5 litres, or one
gallon, ofpesticides sprayed on it. So going back
to our diseases, many pesticides are known to be
carcinogenic. They have also been linked to birth
defects or decreased fertility and are also toxic to
the brain and nervous system. Pesticide exposure
is also associated with depression, memory
decline, aggressive outbursts and Parkinson’s
disease.
Even when labels do tell you what’s in the food,
it’s still impossible to know ifthey are potentially
dangerous and the affects that they may have on
your body, without doing a lot ofresearch. Many
people naively buy products that contain
chemicals trusting, that ifit is allowed be put in
our food, it must be safe. This is not the case.
Many ofthe chemical additives that are found in
our foods can cause adverse reactions. For
example, the orange food colouring Tartrazine
(or E102) can trigger hyperactivity and asthma in
sensitive individuals, while the flavour enhancer
monosodium glutamate (MSG or E621) has been
linked to brain over-excitement. A reaction to
MSG may cause burning sensations in the back,
neck, chest; paralysis; numbness in the same
areas; tingling or warmth in the face, arms or
back; nausea; facial tightness; rapid heartbeat;
chest pains, asthma attacks; drowsiness or
cravings for other foods. I recently found E129 in
orange juice, which is a food colourant made
mostly from petroleum!
It is also not uncommon for food to be
genetically engineered in this, our ‘peak of
society’. These are foods that are typically grown
from seeds that have been modified in a
laboratory. This is to include a different genetic
coding than that which would normally occur.
This includes, but is not limited to, modifying
fruit or vegetables so that they are resistant to
certain pests and/or pesticides or so that they
grow to a uniform size and/or colour. The initial
predictions that GM crops would reduce the
amount ofpesticide used, have been proven to be
unfounded. A 2008 report by Friends ofThe
Earth found that pesticide use on GM crops has
actually drastically increased – by upto 15 times
on some crops. Also the promise ofincreased
yields has also not transpired. There are great
concerns that GM food could pose a serious risk
to our health, with possible side effects including
antibiotic resistance, the creation ofnew toxins
and unexpected allergic reactions. Most ofthe
health concerns remain largely speculative
though, as no adequate safety tests have been
done and no one is monitoring the impact ofGM
food on the countries eating the most ofthem.
Far too little is known about DNA and genes to
predict what the outcome ofgenetically
modifying our food sources will be.
Ok, so our food isn’t clean, but surely our water
is right? Well most ofus in the Western World
have running water coming into our homes.
Compared to the Third World, we are privileged
– many have to walk for miles, drinking filthy,
mucky water. However, just because our water is
transparent does not make it perfectly clean.
Among the agents listed on page 192 ofthe
report by the Department ofHealth and Children
are Arsenic, Mercury, Chromium, Lead, Nickel,
Silicon, Fluoride (Hydro Fluoro Silicic Acid –
H2SiF6). Currently, 71% ofthe public water
supplies in the Republic ofIreland contain these
agents. In a letter from Dublin City Corporation
they have openly stated that Sulphuric acid,
aluminium sulphate, polyelectrolyte,
hydroflousilicic acid and chlorine gas are added
to our water.
Tap WaterAdditives according to Dublin
Corporation
Let’s take a closer look at these ingredients the
Government has deemed it necessary to add to
our drinking water:
• Sulphuric acid is added to drinking water for
pH correction, according to Dublin
Corporation. Sulphuric acid is a corrosive and
its main uses include lead-acid batteries for
cars and other vehicles, ore processing,
fertilizer manufacturing, oil refining,
wastewater processing, and chemical
synthesis.
• Aluminium sulphate and polyelectrolyte are
added for removal ofparticulate matter.
Aluminium sulphate in particular is
commonly used in drinking water for
purification. Aluminium, itselfthough is toxic!
Toxicity can be traced to deposition in the
bone and central nervous system. It competes
with calcium for absorption.
• Hydrofluosilicic acid is added to the water
for fluoridation, under the 1960 Health
(Fluoridation ofWater Supplies) Act.
Hydrofluosilicic acid is classified as a
hazardous waste, it is also unstable and
corrosive. There has been a lot ofcontroversy
surrounding the fluoridation ofwater. Many
other countries in Europe have rejected
fluoride in their water. Northern Ireland,
Scotland and Wales have no fluoride in their
water, England is only 10% fluoridated.
Fluoride was originally thought to be good for
your teeth but as the pictures below illustrate,
over fluorosis ofthe teeth can have a
detrimental effect on them. As well as
damaging teeth, fluoride increases the risk of
hip fractures, lowers children’s IQ’s, increases
the risk ofthyroid disorders, as well as being
carcinogenic and has been proven to cause
bone cancer in children as admitted by John
Gormley on RTE’s Prime Time. I think it is
also worth while noting at this point that the
Nazis used fluoride in the water ofthe
concentration camps in order to keep their
prisoners docile and quiet, for which IG
Farben was subject to the Nuremberg Trials
as a result.
• Arsenic, mercury, lead, nickel, chlorine and
silicon are also harmful when ingested by the
human body. Mercury poisoning can result in
several diseases, including acrodynia (pink
disease), Hunter-Russell syndrome, and
Minamata disease. Symptoms typically
include sensory impairment (vision, hearing,
speech), disturbed sensation and a lack of
coordination. Lead interferes with a variety of
body processes and is toxic to many organs
and tissues including the heart, bones,
intestines, kidneys, reproductive and nervous
systems. It interferes with the development of
the nervous system and is therefore
particularly toxic to children, causing
potentially permanent learning and
behavioural disorders. Symptoms include
abdominal pain, headache, anemia,
irritability, and in severe cases seizures, coma,
and death.
The food we eat and the water we drink are the
basic building blocks ofthe body, and therefore
our health. What we put in we get back out. As I
mentioned earlier your food and water make up
ever single molecule in your body as they are
constantly renewing and repairing themselves. If
you are replacing these with food and water that
is not clean and does not contain the vital
carbohydrates, proteins, fats, vitamins and
minerals that are essential for the body, over time
the quality at which your body functions will
lessen and it is inevitable that you will become
sick. Just like your machine malfunction ifyou
put bad fuel in – although it may be small doses,
over time all these additives and chemicals build
up in your body, weakening your natural
immunity and defences. The full effects ofmany
substances added to food and water on the
human body is still not known. Ifwe just take
the time to be more considerate ofwhat we put
into our mouths we can save ourselves and our
bodies a lot ofstress and disease in the long run.
The illnesses that are rampant in our society
today are a reflection ofus, in the world, what
we are eating and the ways in which we are
living our lives.
The impact ofthe ways in which we live life
effects not only us, but also our environment
also. As discussed earlier most ofus live in
cities; mass concrete blocks where the natural
area has been paved in order to make way for
“progress”. We have all seen the devastation of
this with the oil spills, the industrial waste that is
dumped every year, the destruction ofour natural
resources. The effects are well documented on
the environment. We rarely stop to consider how
this also affects us. We breathe the air, drink the
water and eat the food that comes from the soil.
Ifthis is not clean then our food will not be clean
and healthy and thus we will not be getting good
clean healthy food in order to fight offillness
and disease.
It is a shame, that in this the 21st Century, the
modern era, that traditional medicine is failing us
and that we are now seeing the ideas that we
were sold as “progress” is not all its cracked up
to be. The pairing oftraditional medicine with its
mechanical view ofthe body and the
pharmaceutical industry is a fatal cocktail for the
body! The healthcare industry has in recent years
more aptly been coined “disease care”, as its
main concern is with treating and controlling the
disease rather than curing and encouraging the
individual to return to optimum health. One of
the main issues with traditional medicine is that
it treats the symptoms, not the root cause ofthe
problem. Treating these symptoms is a billion
dollar business – in the US non-steroidal anti-
inflammatory drugs are a $30 billion industry –
$17 billion for the drugs and $13 billion for
treating the side effects.
Studies have also shown that by the age ofsixty,
nine in every ten people have arthritis. Once the
level ofpain is unbearable, sufferers are
recommended steroidal or non-steroidal anti-
inflammatory drugs. While both classes ofdrugs
reduce the pain and swelling, they also speed up
the progress ofthe disease. Many ofthe drugs
prescribed by the pharmaceutical industry are
synthetic versions ofmany naturally occurring
chemicals and compounds. However these are
not holistically balanced in the same way as in
nature. Ifyou read the label ofmost

It seems people often need to experience a bullet to the head
before they will believe bullets can be deadly...and then they
rue the day they ignored warnings about playing with loaded
guns.
Vaccination seems to hold a similar place. People ignore words of
caution and roll up their sleeves to get a flu shot. It seems they think
getting a vaccine is the same as taking a multivitamin and equally as
benign. But when serious adverse events occur, such as Guillain-Barre
paralysis, a seizure disorder or even a death, a jolt of reality lays bare
just how damaging a ‘simple vaccine’ can be.
The stranglehold offear, perpetrated by those in white coats and by the
medical bureaucrats in Washington DC who take their marching orders
from Big Pharma, is working hard to choke rationally thinking adults
into submission. I get emails almost every day that say something like,
"I bought your DVDs and your books...but I have a question: Should I
get a flu shot?" WHAT?@!>! My mouth drops. I have to clear my
head and find a way to say, "No, you should not get the flu shot", being
cautious to keep my tone void ofsarcasm. That may seem harsh, but in
very turbulent times soft language and hand holding until people ‘get
it’ is becoming increasingly more difficult.
Being in the business of waking people up to the hazzards of vaccines
certainly has its ups and downs. A recent ‘up’ was the public policy
debate held on November 10 at the University of Texas in Austin.
Sponsored by the Libertarian Longhorns, the Texas College
Republicans and a few other Texas health freedom groups, the
discussion called, "Are Vaccine Mandates Good or Bad for Public
Health?" was open to the general public. Interest in this timely topic
was reflected by the standing-room only attendance ofthe meeting.
Speaking in support of vaccination and school mandates was Tom
Betz, MD, MPH, Director of Region 7 for the Texas Department of
Health Services. Several of his health department colleagues joined
him in the audience but chose not to join him on the stage. I had the
pleasure of being teamed with Dawn Richardson, President and Co-
founder of PROVE (Parents Requesting Open Vaccine Education) in
Austin, Texas and the Directory of State Advocacy for the National
Vaccine Information Center in Vienna, Virginia. Our presentation was
mostly about opposition to vaccine mandates but we were able to
address our opposition to vaccines in general. Based on the hundreds
ofcomments we received, the debate (found all on YouTube) was well
received and enlightening for all.
All three participants were given the questions to review prior to the
debate. There is so much to say about vaccines that preparation was
important to cover key points, almost as sound bites. Only three short
minutes were allowed for each answer. Our very professional
moderator, Dr. Donna Campbell, allowed equal time for each side.
During the personal introductions, Dr. Campbell informed the audience
that the plan was to have two persons on each panel, but that Dr. Betz
was the only person from the Health Department who would agree to
participate. Prior to settling in on the stage, I had learned the reason
why.
Shaking Dr. Betz’ hand, I thanked him for joining the discussion. He
returned the niceties with a slight shrug, confessing that, “No one else
wanted to do it.” Surprised, I queried, “Why not? This is a great way
to tell everyone your message about vaccines.” My unspoken question
was, “Why didn?t the Health Department want to jump on the
opportunity to bury anti-vaccination ‘pseudo-science’, as you call it,
once and for all, in front of everyone?” He quietly replied, “We’ve
done these types ofprograms before; they never go well.”
It seems pro-vaccine arguments are being soundly defeated, time after
time. And the real vaccine ‘pseudo-science’ is being exposed for the
rhetoric it is: factoids crafted by public health officials from the WHO
and the CDC and then regurgitated by under-informed medical
professionals to a naive public. Funny how medical bureaucrats and
doctors are considered the "experts" when it is strangely obvious they
don't understand and probably don’t even read their own medical
literature.
The Austin debate was the next important step in exposing that the
‘science of vaccination’ isn’t so scientific after all. Vaccination has
been accepted as safe, effective and protective. The shots can be
described as a medical sacred cow, defined as ‘a medical procedure
that is unreasonably immune to criticism.’ Doctors and patients who
question vaccines are ridiculed and marginalized. It is heresy to
suggest that the status quo is wrong.
Vaccine adverse events are considered ‘rare’, so when reactions occur,
steps are taken to negate the association to the vaccine. Patients are
discredited, parents are dismissed. Doctors subject very ill persons to
thousands of dollars of inconclusive medical tests, rather than to
simply acknowledge and rightfully assign causality to the vaccine.
When a person reacts to penicillin or Paxil or any other drug, isn’t it
just blamed on the drug. Not so with vaccines.
Going to Austin was an upbeat offset to other particularly disturbing
news reported over the last few weeks about the
H1N1, swine flu vaccine:
- Several schools have vaccinated children without parental consent.
- The growing list ofreported miscarriages.
- A teen athlete who is now crippled.
- Two students and a teacher in China who died hours after getting the
shot.
- Children having hallucinations and then committing suicide after
taking Tamiflu.
- The strange and virulent outbreak in the Ukraine where the WHO has
been deafeningly silent about its findings but knows that, whatever is
the cause, vaccination is the answer.
We seem to regard germs the same way we think about terrorism:
Random attacks that can be deadly. All parties who promote
vaccination hawk this view, particularly those pushing both types of
flu shots. Tens of millions have been spent in the US on national
advertising campaigns and even Sesame Street merchandising to
convince us that flu shots are necessary to keep us well and keep us
alive. But perhaps we have it backwards. Bugs can cause random,
mostly benign attacks, particularly among the healthy. But random,
‘deadly’ attacks, with health consequences that can show up years
later. I’d worry more about the vaccines.
After 200 years, with our many advances in science and medicine, you
would think that someone could develop a method to protect babies
and adults from infectious disease other than injecting them with
animal cells, stray viruses, heavy metals and toxic chemicals. Why do
we call this health and protection? Until my dying breath I will never
understand why people resolutely defend and demand the right to
inject themselves and their children with these risky potions.
For those who meet resistance when trying to warn family and friends
of vaccine risks, the only thing to do really, is to keep spreading the
word. Don’t be discouraged. You never know who is listening and you
never know when the seeds will sprout. Focus on those who are
waking up and gratefully support them. The rest, well sadly, they may
have to find out the hard way what it feels like to get hit by that stray
bullet.
pharmaceutical drugs, you will often find a list ofside effects
(which should more appropriately be listed as effects) that are often
worse than the initial illness you are taking the drug for! For
example, on the inside ofanti-depressant packs it often contains a
warning saying that the prescribed drug may cause suicidal
tendencies! Instead ofbeing healthy human beings the
pharmaceutical industry has turned the Western World into pill
poppers. We'll just pop a pill to make something go away without
taking the time to find out what is actually going on. According to
surveys 46% ofAmericans take at least one prescribed medication
daily – and don't think Ireland isn't too far behind.
Many people would see nothing wrong with going to the doctor to
get an antibiotic during the colder seasons. While this antibiotic will
generally have you feeling better within a week or so, its long term
effects on the body should be considered when taking your health
into account. An antibiotic replaces one ofthe functions ofthe body
and subsequently suppresses the immune system. Antibiotics act by
inhibiting certain enzymatic processes ofbacteria, and by changing
mineral balances. However, normal cells are also affected. This may
be one reason why antibiotics weaken the immune response.
Vitamin A and C and the use ofsimple herbs such as echinacea and
astragalus, for example, are much safer and often equally effective.
While many natural treatments take longer than their synthetic
counterparts, they heal the body more completely rather than
rushing the body to get back to work and keep up with our modern
world.
Ifour health is our wealth and it is a billion euro industry would it
not be logical to assume therefore that in the Western World, this
would be reflected in the health care ofour people? £333 million
was spent between 2007 and 2008 by Cancer Research UK which
has allowed them to become ranked one ofthe top three biomedical
research organisations worldwide, yet one in three people get cancer
in their lifetime. We have already seen that despite rising costs in
health care, cutting edge technology and research, we also see
money being spent to dump waste in our water, our air and our
oceans and to grow genetically modified food in the environment
we have created for them. At the same time, we see Europe pushing
for a ban on natural herbs, vitamin and mineral supplements in order
to fall into line with so-called trade standards under the name of
Codex Ailmentarius. It seems our health wealth has been badly
invested and like the ‘debt bubble’ it is going to have to burst
sometime.
For so long we have been taught that doctors are the experts and
that they are the ones who know what’s wrong and that we should
just listen to them. While doctors have studied for many years and
gained much knowledge which should be respected and recognised,
they don't know everything. Ever wonder why they call it practice?
We can take back our own health and our own lives by learning how
to take care ofourselves and our bodies. We can start by eating
organic or locally grown food, growing our own food, eating more
fresh vegetables, fruit, nuts and seeds, avoid GM foods, additives
and flavourings, avoid tap water, drinking fresh spring water where
ever you can, read about proper nutrition and hydration, learning
and listening to your own body, avoid pharmaceutical drugs taking
natural cures where possible and by finding a local holistic or
nutritional therapist in your area that can help you learn how to heal
yourselfnaturally.
Please note that this article is not a substitute for medical advice
and anyone wishing to no longer take pharmaceutical medication
should research thoroughly the implications and discuss it with your
doctor.

Like A Bullet to the Head
The following letter which was
posted to Mary Harney under
registered post is printed here as an
open letter.
Dear Minister for Health Mary Harney,
I believe that Professor Bill Hall as Director of
the National Virus Reference Laboratory is the
most eminent authority in Ireland on pathogenic
viruses.
Over the last few years I have repeatedly
requested you the Minister for Health Mary
Harney to compel the relevant Irish scientific
experts such as Professor Bill Hall to provide
the scientific evidence for the existence ofthe
H1N1 virus. Your private secretary Darragh
Scully replied to me in 2009 that the Minister
for Health relies on the expert opinion ofthe
Expert Advisory Group at the Department of
Health and also on the WHO. I believe that
Professor Bill Hall is on this Expert Advisory
Group along with Dr Darina O'Flanagan
Director ofthe HPSC.
This defence used by you as Minister for Health
is the "appalling vista" defence, in that it would
be such an appalling vista that the experts such
as Professor Bill Hall and the WHO officials
are wrong, that they must therefore be right.
This reasoning is faulty. As Lord Nimmo Smith
said in a famous judgment:-
But however often a conclusion may be
repeated, it is only as sound as the research on
which it is based, and ofthis I have seen none.
I want Professor Bill Hall to provide me with
one scientific publication proving the existence
ofthe H1N1 virus. This scientific paper must
demonstrate how the H1N1 virus was isolated,
biochemically characterised and photographed.
Dr Stefan Lanka has produced three papers
concerning a virus he isolated called the
Ectocarpus siliculosus virus. This virus is not
pathogenic and neither are the millions of
viruses that exist in just one litre ofsea-water!
The Ectocarpus siliculosus virus has a diameter
ofapproximately 120nm. Dr Lanka assures me
that the diameters ofall alleged pathogenic
viruses vary from 60 nm to 180nm.
The National Virus Reference Laboratory
(NVRL) relies on indirect evidence which seems
to prove the existence ofthe H1N1 virus.
However the NVRL cannot directly prove the
existence ofthe H1N1 virus by isolating the
virus from the host cell.
I have four questions for Professor Bill Hall
that I want you to compel him to answer:-
1) Does Professor Bill Hall accept that the
Ectocarpus siliculosus virus ofapproximately
120nm diameter has been isolated,
biochemically characterised and photographed
by Dr Stefan Lanka?
2) What is the approximate diameter ofthe
H1N1 virus?
3) Why can Professor Bill Hall not cite a
scientific publication proving the existence of
the H1N1 virus?
4) Why can Professor Bill Hall and his NVRL
colleagues not isolate the H1N1 virus in a
similar manner like the Ectocarpus siliculosus
virus and have this published in a scientific
journal?
I accept that the received wisdom is that H1N1
exists and is pathogenic. But when your
relevant experts cannot isolate the H1N1 virus
(even though this is technologically possible)
you have to ask yourselfwhy not?
Please compel Professor Bill Hall to give the
diameter ofthe alleged H1N1 virus and bear in
mind that the virus Dr Lanka isolated has a
diameter ofapproximately 120nm. Why can the
NVRL not isolate the similar sized H1N1 virus?
I accept that as Minister ofHealth you are not
an expert on viruses. All I am asking is that you
compel the relevant Irish expert Professor Bill
Hall to answer my four questions.
Yours Sincerely
James McCumiskey

8. New Kremlin
Power Struggle
between Putin
and Medvedev◙ F. William Engdahl
Evidence is emerging from behind
Kremlin walls that there is an intense
power battle underway between Russian
President Medvedev and his
predecessor, Prime Minister Vladimir
Putin. The outcome could have
significant geopolitical consequences for
Europe and for the world. Here are some
elements we have pieced together in
recent weeks.
In recent weeks Russian foreign policy
decisions made by the President have
then been reversed by his Prime
Minister. One was the agreement
announced between French President
Sarkozy and Medvedev that Russia
would but French Mistral boats, boats
which are not at all relevant to Russian
Navy needs. Putin managed to overturn
the deal by announcing that a system of
competitive bids would be instigated for
the purchase. Apparently he, as former
head of Russian Foreign Intelligence,
FSB, was given information of bribery
payments by Sarkozy to Medvedev. The
rival bidder would likely be won by OSK,
a conglomerate chaired by Igor Sechin,
Vladimir Putin’s deputy.
The second major policy split was over
delivery of S300 missiles to Iran. The UN
Security Council adopted Resolution
1929, new sanctions against Iran over its
alleged nuclear weapons program; which
Medvedev claimed banned such sale:
Medvedev in a departure from previous
Russian support for Teheran against the
US and Israel, had come out for a most
strict embargo against Teheran. Putin by
contrast claimed the UN Resolution did
not apply to S300 deliveries as
those had been agreed prior to
the resolution. Then days later,
contradicting Medvedev,
Defense Minister Anatoli
Serdioukov declared that
regarding delivery of the S300
missiles, “that no decision had
been made.”
Yet another major split on vital
Russian foreign policy recently
took place over the stalled
Russian-built nuclear power reactor at
Bushehr in Iran. The USA, Canada and
the EU had put enormous pressure on
Moscow to block startup of the civilian
reactor despite the fact it violated no
international non-proliferation treaty.
President Medvedev had aligned with the
Atlanticist position to apply the embargo
to all energy, while Putin openly
supported Iran’s desire to achieve
energy independence. Foreign Affairs
Minister Sergey Lavrov made a
statement calling startup of the power
plant as an act of confidence on the part
of Iran vis-à-vis the international
community, Putin’s position. The plant is
being completed under strict IAEA
supervision and Russian controls. On
August 20-22, the first fuel was
transferred into the reactor. Bushehr is
unique in terms of strict adherence to the
nuclear nonproliferation regime. During
the entire period of operation of the plant,
fuel for it will be delivered by Russia on
the conditions of its subsequent return.
Furthermore, the entire process of
operation of the station, as well as supply
and return of fuel will be under full IAEA
supervision. This eliminates the
possibility of any manipulation of spent
nuclear fuel. The implications of the
Medvedev attempt to stop the Bushehr
project in favour of the US position in
such circumstances were stark.
The coming Presidential elections
The power struggle between two men
who had been allied for over three
decades is of enormous significance in
face of coming Russian Presidential
elections. To weigh Russian politics
through German or Western eyes is a
mistake. The cultural tradition and history
are far different. In Russia a strong man
in the Kremlin is the tradition. The issue
here is not so much democracy or lack of
it, but rather what grand strategy the two
rivals bring for Russia and to the rest of
the world.
In a recent speech before foreign
academics and journalists in Sochi on
the Black Sea Putin hinted he is
planning to run in the coming elections
for the Presidency, something until now
he has avoided commenting on. When
asked whether his potential re-election to
the presidency would jeopardise
Russia’s political system, Putin likened
himself to FDR, the United State’s
longest-serving president. “In his day, US
President (Franklin) Roosevelt was re-
elected four times in a row because this
did not contradict the American
Constitution. Neither I nor President
(Dmitry) Medvedev will do anything that
contradicts existing Russian legislation
and the country’s basic law,” he said.
Under the Russian Constitution, in this
respect modelled on the US, a President
may serve only two CONSECUTIVE
terms. That leaves a loophole if a
President steps down for one term and
then is reelected after which Putin now
would be eligible to do.
Although the 57-year old Putin refused to
confirm whether he would definitely run
in 2012, he hinted strongly, “It interests
me as much as ... I was going to say 'as
much as anyone’, but really more than
everyone else!”
Putin occupied the presidency from
2000-2008 and then gave the job to
Dmitry Medvedev, a hand-picked loyalist,
due to the constitutional limit on serving
a third consecutive term. Now Putin is
eligible to return to the presidency in
2012 and to serve a further two
consecutive terms if he chooses. The
terms have since been extended from
four to six years, meaning he could stay
in power until 2024 at which point he
would be 72.

So those sickly shady folks in the Green
Party intend to stay until the ‘Finance Bill’
is passed because it’s in the national
interest do they?
I wonder whose national interest it’s in because
surely a bill which is set to plunge the Irish nation
into abject poverty for generations ofIrish
citizens isn’t in the Irish nation’s or the Irish
people’s interest!
No, these parasites just want to cling onto power
for as long as it takes to get their bogus manmade
‘global warming’ bill passed following the
coldest winter in a century. I use the words
‘global warming’ because this was the first term
used to sell the biggest scientific fraud in the
history ofmankind to a gullible and intellectually
ignorant general public who feast on nothing
more than sport and handbags sold to them by the
mainstream whore media. ‘Global warming’ was
the original lie sold to the world and it matters
not a jot what they want to call it now; ‘a climate
change bill’, ‘an atmosphere depletion bill’ or ‘a
oh my God, isn’t it warm in the middle of
August’ bill.
This is the goal and the sole purpose ofthese
ecofascists being in power today. They care
nothing for the Irish people or the people ofthe
world in general. They are ANTI-HUMAN! They
want to wipe humanity offthe face ofthe earth to
leave more rom for themselves. Unfortunately for
them, they don’t even realise that their fanaticism
and ludicrous devotion to the green gods in the
banking world is another falacy being sold to
them because the multi-billionaire masters ofthe
universe don’t need them in the world either.
They and their children and grandchildren are
going to be sacrificed on the alter ofGaia
worshiping eugenicist psychopathic banking
brotherhood the same as everyone else whom the
world’s elite decide are nothing more than
‘useless eaters’.
Ifthere are any ofyou greenie supporters reading
this and still believe that CO2, the life gas ofthe
planet, is causing global warming, then you’ve
been smoking a bit too much ofthat green, green
grass or injecting some ofthat powdery stuff
being imported by the military from Afghanistan.
Ifso be careful ofthat wicked thing called
flatulence… The party may have to tax you on
that!
Global Warming in the National Interest!
Another Sickly Green Lie! ◙ Neil Foster
Isaw a number of articles in the press this
weekend which highlighted the true agenda
of Cameron's LibCon coalition. Perhaps I
was particularly alert following our exposure of
top Tory Francis Maude MP working in direct
partnership with top NuLabour socialist Julia
Middleton. Just ask yourselfthe question......why
would the Tories be working with a John Prescott
nee Blairite political charity?
Ifwe join up the dots ofthese media snippets we
can see further into the mists of the Cameron -
Clegg partnership and where they are heading. In
the Daily Mail 24th October Maude is quoted as
suggesting that: "Liberal Democrat leader Nick
Clegg will remain Deputy Prime Minister even if
the Conservatives win outright victory at the next
Election." The Mail goes on to say that: "Mr
Maude is one of Mr Cameron’s closest advisers.
His comments will fuel suspicion among Right-
wing Conservatives that the Prime Minister sees
the Coalition as part of a long-term strategy, not
a short-term fix after the Election result."
Of course Mr Maude is working on a long term
strategy. The aim ofthe coalition is to destroy the
Lib Dems, thereby creating a two party political
system. The next step will be to drive politics in
the UK towards a single party elitist dictatorship
by further integration of (ex) Labour politicians
into the coalition. Within this overall programme,
Common Purpose is the tool by which
individuals in politics and the Civil Service /
Public Sector will be mentally 'reframed' to
change their values and behaviour to the
common [political] purpose or common line.
The Mail also went on to suggest that: "David
Cameron and Nick Clegg plan to flood the Lords
with another 44 new Coalition peers to stop
Labour sabotaging their policies in the Upper
House." Whilst we should be wary with the
'truth' in a paper like the Daily Mail, I am sure
what they say is correct. Cameron and Clegg are
creating a dictatorship and they need to control
what remains of the Lords to ensure all policies
can be forced through any opposition. As a
spokesman says: "Lords votes can be sprung at a
moment's notice so we need plenty of new peers
on our side to make sure we can get our
legislative programme through safely."
Trampling over our rights and the British
Constitution, Cameron and Clegg treat the House
of Lords as if it was their private 'club'. These
men are dangerous elitists, and they continue to
commit Treason for their International Bankster
masters in driving us into the EU Supranational
dictatorship. As their plan advances however
their true colours become ever more apparent.
Aside from Maude, watch Vince Cable and next
step policy towards the (one) World
Government. You have been warned.

Keeping an Eye on the News:
Lies, Damned Lies and
Dictatorships.
9. ◙ Patrick Downey
Patrick: Downey, a US citizen denied
political asylum in Ireland, this week
released the identity of a senior CIA
operative involved in illegal
eavesdropping activities on the Georgian
opposition party in Tbilisi 2007 – 2008.
In 2009, Downey, a US citizen, disabled
veteran, former US Foreign Service
employee, brought a civil rights lawsuit
against the United States (“Patrick C.
Downey Jr. -v- The United States”),
arguing that his rights to due process and
equal protection, as guaranteed in the 14th
Amendment to the US Constitution were
being denied to him and that he was thus
being discriminated against on the basis of
his nationality — having no similar form of
redress as that given to foreign citizens.
Several days after filing the case, Downey
was ruled against for reasons which were
completely bogus in nature, and his request
for a jury trial was also denied. The case is
currently being appealed.
Moreover, Downey’s former employer in
the Republic of Georgia, a Yeltsin-era
Russian oligarch and multi-billionaire by
the name of Boris Ivanishvili (who was
named in the lawsuit), benefited personally
from tens of millions of Euros in “war
reconstruction loans”, courtesy of the
European Bank for Reconstruction and
Development (EBRD); a large portion of
which happens to be owned by the US
government. These loans occurred in the
wake of the 2008 War in South Ossetia,
which it has been suggested was started by
then-US Vice President/Vietnam War draft-
dodger Dick Cheney. Downey himself
chose to be evacuated during the War in
South Ossetia (for the cost of $35.00),
which the US Department of State later
billed him for.
Later in 2009, Downey was threatened by a
representative ofMr. Ivanishvili’s in Tbilisi
and later fled from the US in order to claim
political asylum in Ireland, given the
threats made against him and the United
State’s government’s refusal to respond to
Mr. Downey’s repeated concerns regarding
the threats, which he attributed to political
reasons.
While in seeking asylum in Ireland under
“Direct Provision”, in addition to being
assaulted, Downey’s human rights were
repeatedly violated for a
period of several
months, which has
caused Downey a
considerable degree of
pain and suffering.
During this time, Mr.
Downey became aware
of illegal and
clandestine activities
which had occurred in
Georgia, including
illegal wiretapping and
electronic surveillance
of Georgian citizens
opposed to the policies
of Georgian President
Mikheil Saakashvili,
whom the US installed
as president of Georgia
in an illegal regime-change operation
carried out by former US Ambassador to
Georgia, Richard Miles (as well as others),
which was in part funded by groups linked
to billionaire financier George Soros’
“Soros Foundation”. It has in fact been
suggested that other billionaires took part
in this fiasco.
Downey was denied political asylum in
Ireland and issued a deportation notice.
Downey (who is currently in hiding), fears
for his life, yet he has chosen to fight all
the injustice which he has been forced to
endure, for private, as well as patriotic
reasons.

From NAFTAto
CETA: Canada-EU
Deep Economic
Integration
◙ Dana Gabriel
Canada and the European Union (EU)
have already held five rounds of
negotiations towards a
Comprehensive Economic and Trade
Agreement (CETA) which will go beyond
NAFTA. With the sixth round of talks
scheduled to take place in Brussels, Belgium
from January 17-21, Canadian and EU
officials remain optimistic that a deal could
be finalized by the end of 2011. Thus far,
negotiations have included key areas such as
goods, rules of origin, services, investment,
government procurement, as well as others.
As talks enter their final crucial stages, there
are growing concerns over the threat CETA
poses to Canadian sovereignty. Coupled with
the financial turmoil sweeping Europe, deep
economic integration with the EU could prove
disastrous.
In a recent article Maude Barlow, national chair
of the Council of Canadians, points out the
dangers Canada faces with the current CETA
trade model. She warns that, “CETA will open
up the rules, standards and public spending
priorities of provinces and municipalities to
direct competition and challenge from European
corporations.” Barlow goes on to say, “Europe is
seeking a comprehensive and aggressive global
approach to acquiring the raw materials needed
by its corporations. At its heart, this deal is a bid
for unprecedented and uncontrolled European
access to Canadian resources.” She also added,
“CETA will likely have a NAFTA-type investor-
state enforcement mechanism, which means that
European corporations will have the same right
that U.S. companies now enjoy to sue the
Canadian government if it introduces new rules
to protect the environment.” If CETA includes
something similar to NAFTA’s Chapter 11 which
gives corporations the power to challenge laws
and regulations that restrict their profits, U.S.
and Mexican companies could benefit from any
rulings that favour the EU. Ultimately, like
NAFTA and other trade deals, CETA will further
serve corporate interests.
A report released in December of last year,
entitled Public Water for Sale: How Canada will
privatize our public water systems, “exposes
how CETA would open up public municipal
water systems across Canada to privatization.”
The paper prepared by the the Council of
Canadians and the Canadian Union of Public
Employees cautions that, “public water in
Canada will be lost unless the provinces and
territories take immediate steps to remove water
from the scope of the proposed Canada-EU
Comprehensive Economic and Trade
Agreement.” The Union of B.C. Municipalities
supports a resolution by those cities and towns
who wish to receive a clear, permanent
exemption from CETA. Others have voiced
opposition to any deal that could deny
government the ability to favour local businesses
and create jobs. There has been increased
pressure on Ottawa to either fully or partly
shield the municipal sector from government
procurement of goods and services. Giving the
EU full access to sub-national purchasing and
contracting in Canada would open up areas such
as school boards, universities, hospitals, as well
as other provincial agencies.
The October 2010 report, Out of Equilibrium:
The Impact of EU-Canada Free Trade on the
Real Economy written by economist Jim
Stanford warns that Canada’s bilateral trade
deficit with the EU could grow under CETA.
Released by the Canadian Centre for Policy
Alternatives, the paper, “models three scenarios
to provide a range of estimates regarding the
likely impacts ofEU-Canada free trade. In every
case, Canada’s bilateral trade balance worsens
significantly. The simulations suggest an
incremental loss ofbetween 28,000 and 150,000
Canadian jobs.” Many of these could be good
jobs in sectors such as machinery, chemicals,
electronic, food-processing, apparel-making and
the auto industry. The study on the economic
impacts of CETA also, “estimates direct losses
in Canadian GDP between 0.56% and almost
3%, experienced over several years of
adjustment to the new trade pact. Indirect losses
of spin-off production, employment, and
investment could add significantly to those
economic losses.” Stanford concluded, “Free
trade with Europe will take a bad situation for
Canada, marked by large deficits and lost jobs,
and make it much worse.”
It is becoming apparent that Canadian sacrifices
in regards to a free trade agreement with the EU
outweighs any potential benefits. While
Canada does need to lessen its dependency on
the U.S. economy, CETA is based on the failed
NAFTA trade model and will only serve to
accelerate the corporate takeover of the country.
The sixth round of negotiations are expected to
focus on sensitive areas such as tariffs on dairy
imports, intellectual property rights investment
and regulatory standardization, as well as public
procurement. CETA is part of a larger agenda
and could be used as a blueprint for a future US-
EU trade agreement and a stepping-stone to a
NAFTA-EU free trade zone.
At the EU-U.S. Summit held in Lisbon several
months back, leaders reaffirmed their close
partnership, as well as their desire to bring
greater prosperity and security to both sides of
the Atlantic. They recognised the central role of
the Transatlantic Economic Council (TEC) and
entrusted, “the TEC to develop a transatlantic
agenda to stimulate growth and create jobs in
key emerging sectors and technologies.” The
TEC was called upon to, “identify ways to
improve transatlantic consultation before
regulators and agencies develop regulation in
economically promising new technologies and
sectors, to share best practices, and to develop
joint principles with the aim of promoting
maximum compatibility of regulations and the
freest possible transatlantic flow of ideas,
products, and services.” The TEC was
established in 2007 in an effort to work towards
increasing investment, eliminating trade barriers
and streamlining harmonization on regulations.
It is the framework for advancing transatlantic
economic integration between the U.S. and the
EU.
In December of last year, the TEC met in
Washington where “European Commissioners
and leading US government representatives took
the first concrete steps to ensure the TEC
process creates a forward-looking business
environment that reduces regulatory barriers and
encourages innovation, shared standards and
high-tech business.” An agreement on a
common approach to electronic health record
systems and a declaration on energy efficiency
was also signed. The TEC meeting identified
other, “key areas for joint activities in the
innovation sector and discussed ways to ensure
secure trade and strengthen the customs
cooperation between the two partners.” The
TEC has been compared to the Security and
Prosperity Partnership (SPP). Along with
NAFTA, the SPP agenda which continues to
move forward through other initiatives, is
essentially laying the foundation for a North
American Union. A Canada-EU trade deal
would be an incremental step towards a Free
Trade Area of the Atlantic and an eventual
Transatlantic Union.
Canada has fared better than other countries
during the current financial crisis. With parts of
Europe still marred in recession and debt
trouble, a trade agreement with the EU,
especially under the template in which it is
being negotiated could prove costly. Failed
monetary policies and government managed
free trade agreements that favour corporate
interests, deserve their share ofthe blame for the
current global economic predicament. Yet, we
are still being told that more globalization is the
solution to our financial woes. In order to
further restructure the world, the ruling elite
seek to capitalize on the economic chaos which
in many ways they engineered.

Whistleblower reveals CIAties to illegal
wiretapping in Georgia
Gardaí No Longer
Guardians OfThe Peace?
When our police force was set up in 1923 the name
"Garda Síochána" meant "Guardians ofthe Peace". But
today, the Gardaí are getting further and further away
from that role and are now becoming "Law Enforcement
Officers".
There is a huge difference in the two functions. A Peace
Officer is just that; he keeps the peace in society and
protects each and every individual's rights. On the other
hand, a Law Enforcement Officer is a revenue collector
whose job is to gather money for the now corporatized
law courts and other 'legal fictions' ofgovernment.
These two roles are not in accord. It is time to force our
government to return The Gardaí to their true and
original function.
