Resistance to high temperatures, mini-
mal residue formation, long relubrica-
tion intervals – these are the demand-
ing requirements of the glass industry,
and they are fully met by lubricants
from Klüber. Klüber offers a range of
special lubricants that are optimally
suited to your specific applications.
They comprise oils, greases, pastes
and bonded coatings.
Along with our products, we offer
comprehensive service:
❑ Regular visits and consulting
❑ Customised lubricant selection
❑ Chemical analyses
❑ Inspection of bearings and gears
❑ Training on lubricants and
lubrication technology
❑ Cost-benefit analyses
❑ Highly qualified specialists
❑ Availability worldwide
In addition to our know-how in the
development of lubricants, we offer
our customers tests and analyses,
which are performed at our inhouse
mechano-dynamic testing department.

5. A member of the international
Freudenberg group since 1966, we
have been present in the market place
with our high-quality special lubricants
for almost 70 years.
The cooperation between our 26 sub-
sidiaries, 14 production plants and
more than 1000 employees worldwide
ensures our position as market leader.
We use carefully selected raw materi-
als and up-to-date facilities, employ
stringent compliance tests (chemical
analyses, mechano-dynamic tests) and
have long-standing practical experi-
ence, which guarantees our products
always feature maximum quality.
Since we attach great importance to
environmental aspects, we focus on
lubricants of both high ecological and
economic value. All European Klüber
activities, for example in Austria, Bel-
gium, Italy and Spain, are certified to
DIN ISO 9000 and validated according
to EMAS. Klüber is Munich’s first com-
pany to be validated according to the
EC eco-audit directive and employs a
global environmental management
policy.
The glass industry is one of our part-
ners whom we provide with tailormade
lubricants and the associated services.
In cooperation with the machine manu-
facturers, we develop innovative solu-
tions aiming at a further optimisation
and reduction of lubricant quantities.
Different synthetic base oils are
selected and combined to attain spe-
cial product characteristics, such as
long service life, high thermal stability
and reduced formation of residues.
With the use of Klüber lubricants you
are making an active contribution to
the environmental management
scheme of your company.

Klübersynth HM 2 series
For this application, Klüber has devel-
oped the Klübersynth HM 2 series of
high temperature oils, which have a
thermal resistance surpassing that of
conventional mineral oils as well as of
most of today’s synthetic oils from our
competitors. Since these oils are avail-
able in various viscosity grades, they
can also be used in regions where tem-
peratures vary strongly or that are per-
manently exposed to extreme climatic
conditions.
Thermogravimetric analysis tests includ-
ing several competing oils used in these
applications showed that the evapora-
tion loss of e.g. Klübersynth HM 2-220
is very low at an operating temperature
of 180 °C*. This means that the oil
retains its lubricity much longer than
others, enabling extension of relubrica-
tion intervals.
The use of Klübersynth HM 2-… offers
numerous benefits, which taken
together may significantly reduce your
operating costs:
u Longer relubrication intervals due to
low evaporation
u Less cleaning required due to low
residue formation
u Lower disposal costs due to lower
consumption
u Lower expenses for logistics due
to reduced handling and optimised
stockkeeping
u Higher reliability and consequently
less extraordinary machine down-
times
u Clean machine environment and
reduced toxicological exposure of
staff
u Positive contribution to environmen-
tal management

* Service temperatures are guide values which depend on the lubricant’s composition, the
intended use and the application method. Lubricants change their consistency, apparent
dynamic viscosity or viscosity depending on the mechano-dynamical loads, time, pressure
and temperature. These changes in product characteristics may affect the function of a
component.

Klüberpaste HEL 46-450
For the lubrication of sliding areas
and to ensure proper positioning, we
recommend our high-temperature
Klüberpaste HEL 46-450.

Neck ring mechanism
and mould holder
Klübersynth HM 2-220
Because of the difficult access to these components,
centralised lubrication is in many cases not possible.
Consequently, the lubricating nipples need to be oiled
manually by means of a lubricating gun at regular
intervals.
Since thermal loads are very high, we recommend the use
of Klübersynth HM 2-220.

Applications
for special lubricants in the environment of IS machines
Bearings in air circulators and exhaust air fans of annealing furnaces
PETAMO GHY 133 N or STABURAGS N 12 MF
These bearings are subjected to high thermal stress and wear. We therefore recommend relubrication
by means of our high-temperature lubricating grease for rolling bearings PETAMO GHY 133 N or by
STABURAGS N 12 MF, which contains solid lubricants ensuring added reliability through emergency
running properties at elevated operating temperatures.
Bearings in conveyor and cross belts
and the transfer corner
Klübertemp HM 83-402
Because of the extreme levels of radiated heat from hot glass
containers, deep groove ball bearings lubricated by a lithium
simple grease are very liable to failure. We recommend lubrica-
tion of bearings in conveyor and cross belts by our fully syn-
thetic high-temperature grease Klübertemp HM 83-402, which
can be used at operating temperatures up to 250°C*.
Conveyor belt chain
SYNTHESCO
Some glass factories use inverted-tooth chains, which
suffer extraordinary wear when not lubricated. To min-
imise friction between the chain links, we recommend
lubrication of the chain by our high-temperature oil
SYNTHESCO.
