Election in AIESEC
This is a way that we select the leadership body especially the Executive Board Members in AIESEC.
We practice our democracy and insure that the members select the leaders who they trust and who can lead
the organization to great heights.
According to democracy: The candidates who get majority of the votes will be considered successful for either
their posts or for next procedures of the election process
According to AIESEC, the majority of the votes are 2/3 of the whole votes for each candidate.
Election & selection procedure
The EB shall be chosen during Local Legislation Meeting in the following order:
Election of Local Committee President (LCP);
The vote of confidence and selection of Vice-Presidents;
a) President
a. Election procedure of Local Committee President (LCP)

b. Voting for President shall be conducted by secret ballot.
c. Unsuccessful Presidential candidates are eligible for Vice-Presidential positions
b) The President vote process:
All candidates are listed on the ballot paper in alphabetical order by surname with three options for voting
procedure beside each name.
During voting procedures each voter has 3 options for voting:
“For” the candidate -If voter feels the candidate is capable of fulfilling the job.
“Against” the candidate -If the voter feels that candidate is not capable of fulfilling the job. This is counted as a
vote of no confidence in this candidate.
“Abstention”- If the voter feels unable to decide on the candidate, or if the voter does not want to take part in
the election, or if the voter does not have an opinion on the candidate, or does not care if this candidate is
elected or not.
2. The voter may abstain. Abstentions reduce the total pool of votes, and thus reduce the figure for the simple
majority needed to reach a result.
c) Vice- Presidents:
(a) Vote of Confidence and selection of Vice-Presidents

Voting of “Confidence” or “Non-Confidence”

(b) The confidence vote to determine the selection pool of Vice-Presidents candidates shall be done by secret
ballot.
(c) The information obtained during selection regarding the candidates shall be treated as confidential.

(d) All candidates are listed on the ballot in alphabetical order by surname with three options for voting

(e) During voting procedure each voter has 3 options for voting:

“No- confidence” for the candidate -If the voter feels that candidate is not capable of fulfilling the job. This is
counted as a vote of no-confidence in this candidate.

the election, or if the voter does not have an opinion on the candidate, or does not care if this candidate is
elected or not.

e) Announcement of results
In case the results are achieved , the current President will announce the results with the candidates in
the plenary room
In case the results were not achieved then the current President will announce the results with the
candidates in the plenary room.
During announcement the President will declare how much votes each candidate got, without
mentioning from each entity.
