Writing An Essay For Scholarship
1. College Scholarship Essay
Scholarships are a great way to a free college education. There are many prospective college
students who use several other means for funding their college education such as grants, or loans.
Grants are funds that do not have to be repaid. Student loans usually have to be repaid. There are
several ways how to pay for college, and start off your college career with scholarships.
When starting your search for college scholarships, you should consider your current student status.
Are you a new high school graduate? Are you pursuing a second degree or advanced degree? What
field do you wish to pursue? The answer to these questions may determine where you start your
search for scholarships. If you're a recent high school graduate, you may...show more content...

education and science. You may search the internet for these type scholarships, or you may check
with a representative from the financial aid office at the institution that you wish to attend for more
information about these types of unique scholarships.
There are some scholarships that are institution based. You may check with a financial aid counselor
at the institution that you wish to attend to find out if you meet the criteria for any scholarships that
they have available. They will usually inform you of what's available at their institution, and there
may or may not be additional requirements to apply for the scholarship. Some scholarships may
require you to write an essay, or maintain a certain grade point average to keep the scholarship.
There are also many scholarships available to prospective students who are athletes. There are
many generous scholarships available for students who wish to play football, basketball, baseball,
golf, track & field, cheerleading, softball, or other sports. This is usually based on the type of sports
that are offered by the institution that you wish to attend. Many college athletes are recruited prior
to enrollment, but there are opportunities available for

We live in a diverse world filled with many different types of people who come from many
different types of backgrounds. In the United States these people commonly live in two types of
settings; rural or urban. From my own perspective I would consider urban fast paced with large
amounts of people. Rural is just the opposite, with its beautiful country roads, acres of fields, and
practically knowing where every person lives. I am honestly auspicious enough to be one of the
lucky kids who got to grow up in a rural community surrounded by not only my biological family,
but as well as my community, and school family, where I was always offered a caring hand.

The first thing I ever wanted to be was a dentist. In my small community we had one dentist in the
town I grew up in. I was at an age where everything I saw was intriguing. My mother had taken me
with her to her dental appointment at the old school in my town where this Doctor's dental
practice was located. I was in love with his occupation for some unknown reason which I now
believe was the independence, intelligence, and love of giving people a smile they are proud of. I
didn't want to stay a dentist for long at that age though, as my mind was always changing. I have
always had a fascination with teeth since then however which has lead me in my last twelve
years' multiple times to the dream of one day becoming a Dentist myself and giving people the
smile they desire as well. As a senior in my rural high school, I was lucky enough to get a head
start in my career path which I feel I would not have happened if I were living in an urban setting.
I am currently involved in the Health Care Academy through Chippewa Valley Technical College

I never stop thinking about being a film director. All these elements have given me a very broad

some are not related directly, all these qualities will influence my graduate work.
When the opportunity showed up I took it. I came to New York City to study film. But I have to
start from the beginning. The first year I prepared to get my GED. In October 2001 I took the
examination and I passed it. Now, the second step, how can I do to pay a college or a university?
I started to work and I took editing courses in the School of Visual Art and NYU. I bought a
digital camera and I learned how to used it. I started to work making digital videos for parties and
events. I earned enough money to start my career. The CUNY advisor sent me to HOSTOS

the major that I was interested in, wasn't in HOSTOS curriculum, I accepted but with the idea in my

My passion for intercultural study started when I was fifteen years old. I had just began to learn
French for my high school language requirement, and our teacher told us about an exchange trip
we could apply to participate in, where we would be matched up with a student from France who
was roughly the same age as us and we would spend four weeks living together (two weeks in our
home and two weeks in theirs). I chose to apply, with no clue what a huge impression such an
experience would have on my life. I was accepted into the program, and was matched with a girl
named Aline, who was exactly two days older than me and lived in Strasbourg, the largest city in
Alsace. We exchanged emails for a few months, and in February of 2012 she and her...show more

Just having Aline stay with my family for that short time taught me so much more about human
nature and the importance and difficulties of cross–cultural communication than I had ever learned in
school. In June, I flew with eleven other kids from my high school to Alsace, and got to live with
Aline's family in Strasbourg for two weeks. The impact that the trip had on me is indescribable.
Through the immersion in both French and Alsatian culture, I began to grasp for the first time
both how small and how very large the world is. I had never spent so much time thinking about
the way life was for other people, and found that once I began thinking about it I couldn't stop; I
learned so much about intercultural communication and exchange over those couple weeks, and I
developed a thirst for travel that I had never had before. I came back from the trip with a new
perspective on life, and began thinking a lot more often about the interplay between cultures, both in
America and abroad. It was on the flight home that I decided I wouldn't mind spending my entire life
learning about the rest of the

having that feeling that I didn't do as much for myself then I should have. Being considered for a
scholarship will give me the feeling that all the dedication that I've put into my work for the past
four years was all worth it. Just the satisfaction of knowing that I put my all into it is just a good
feeling as being awarded a scholarship. Scholarships are meant to push students farther in what
they want so being able to do this has made me think of all the great things that can come out of
things like this. I've never stopped trying at anything I've done and I will continue this as I go
further in my education and career. I would like to advocate for my future students that always
being able to motivate and have faith in yourself will always get you to you truly desire. I've had

A young person should strive to support their local community for various reasons. Engaging in
community service provides people with the opportunity to become active members of their
community and has a lasting, positive impact on society at large. Community service and
volunteerism enables one to acquire life skills and knowledge, as well as provide a service to those
who need it most.
Supporting the community is a way to give back, it's a learning experience, it strengthens the

It has been an interesting semester of AP English. I wrote a total of four essays, each one seem to
be better then the last. My best essay had to have been my college scholarship essay. The prompt I
used for my scholarship essay was "something I know now that I wish I knew when I was
younger". I talk about how failure is something everyone should experience, because it helps you
learn from your mistakes and gain valuable experience. I truly believe in this concept, which helped
me, dive head first into this essay. Something else that made this essay standout, as my best work
is that I was able to get my point across and use some personally experiences that helped drive the
point home. In summary, my college scholarship essay is probably the best evidence of my hard
work because I put a lot of thought and effort into writing it. Making this portfolio made me think
about my writing skills and what level of writing I am on. I think that I made some improvements to
my writing, but I could have done better. Some improvements I made during this semester would
be better organization; I was able to produce my own outline that actually helped me while I was
writing my essay. Another improvement that I made would be the ability to find three main points
that could be argued in a paper. Even though there was improvement in some aspects of my writing
there are some areas that could use a little work. I need to do a better job of supporting my main
points. I am able to find the main

It is a wonderful state with many dedicated communities. Indianapolis and Fort Wayne are a

community that embraces the idea of a city of safety. I also believe that we are fortunate to be a
community that has three school districts that received high ratings not only at the state level but in
national rankings, which would create a desire to return Adams County to raise a family.
I know for sure of one thing that keeps college–educated people from returning to Adams County
after they have completed their education. First of all, I believe it all goes back to their high school

manufacturing leaves little choices for college–educated individuals. For myself wanting to major
