A sermon-presentation on Romans chapter 8, King James Bible. Romans 8 is a chapter that begins with the statement that those who follow The Spirit are free from death, it ends with a passionate declaration of God's love for ALL mankind. Along the way the Apostle Paul shows in clear reasoning that we are free from death which is the ultimate separation from God. But that freedom comes with a price which is the suffering and death of Jesus and our acceptance of that truth by our willingness to cast off our carnal natures and seek the Spirit. By sharing in Christ's experience we, individually, and collectively as a body of believers, come into a brotherhood with with Jesus and are able to share in His inheritance from God. And finally in the home stretch Paul puts the whole thing in perspective by his declaring that nothing can separate us from the LOVE of GOD.

and ends with a declaration of God’s love.
Rom 8:1-11: Freedom from death
Rom 8:12-17: Children of God through Jesus

Ch 8 ~ Free from death
Four Freedoms are at the core of Romans
5. Romans 8: 1-4
• NO condemnation if you leave the carnal
past.
• Jesus frees us from the law of sin and
death.
• The law fails to create righteousness in
mankind
• God did not fail by sending His own Son
Freedom from indwelling sin which ultimately leads to death
6. Romans 8: 5-10
• To be carnally minded is death,
• To be spiritually minded is life and peace. 8:6
• The carnal mind is enmity against God;
• Those who are in the flesh cannot please God.
• If Christ is in you then life is yours through The
Holy Spirit
Freedom from indwelling sin which ultimately leads to death
7. Romans 8: 11
(I)f the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from
the dead dwells in you, He who raised
Christ from the dead will also give life to
your mortal bodies through His Spirit
who dwells in you.
Freedom from indwelling sin which ultimately leads to death

8. Romans 8:12-17
If you live according to the flesh you will die;
If you live according to the Spirit you will live.
Those led by the Spirit of God, are the children of God.
You received the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out
“Abba, Father”.
The Spirit declares that we are children of God,
If we are children, then we are heirs – heirs of God
Being joint heirs with Christ, we suffer with Him,
and we may also be glorified together.
We are Children of God, through the working of the Holy Spirit
9. Romans 8:18 & 19
18. For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are
not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be
revealed in us.
19. For the earnest expectation of the creation eagerly waits
for the revealing of the sons of God.
From suffering to Glory
10. Romans 8:20-26
• Even Creation has been subject to sin and corruption
• Creation will also be delivered from bondage --- into the
glorious liberty of the children (sons) of God.
• All of creation and those who are in the Spirit groan
waiting for the adoption and redemption of our body.
• The Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For we do not
know what we should pray for
• But the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with
groanings which cannot be uttered.
From suffering to Glory
11. Romans 8:27-29
27. Now He who searches the hearts knows what the mind
of the Spirit is, because He makes intercession for the
saints according to the will of God.
28. And we know that all things work together for good to
those who love God, to those who are called according
to His purpose. {Mothers day promises.}
29. For who He foreknew, HE also predestined to be
conformed to the image of HIS Son, that He might be
the firstborn among many brethren. >> children of GOD.
30. Moreover who HE predestined, these HE also called;
whom HE called, these HE also justified; and whom HE
justified, these HE also glorified.
God has a plan for HIS children
12. Romans 8:29 Predestined?
Predestined (verb) is not the same as
Predestination (noun)
Common view of predestination
Five components
1. We have all sinned and fallen short of the glory of God > death
2. God’s mind is already made up.
3. Once saved – always saved AND Once condemned always…..
4. The probability that I am saved is vanishingly small thus no hope.
5. Christ did not die for all ~just the ‘chosen’ few.
So who cares what I think or what I do?
13. Mothers & Predestination
Mothers pray for their children
they expect God to hear them
there is no room in the universe
for a close minded God.
14. For this child I prayed; and the Lord hath given me
my petition which I asked of HIM. 1 Samuel 1:27
15. Romans 8:30 Yes! Predestined!
who HE predestined -----> these He also called;
whom HE called -----> these HE also justified;
whom HE justified -----> these HE also glorified.
To be predestined is to be called of God.
Who is called? …a ransom for ALL men 1 Timothy 2:6
Who did Jesus die for? He died for ALL ~ 2 Corinthians 5:14-15, John 3:16
Once saved always saved? Take heed, ~ 1 Thessalonians 5:19
Do I have a choice? Blessed are they that do my commandments. ~ Rev 22:14
Do I have a chance? …if you continue in His goodness ~ Rom 9:22 & 23.
16. Romans 5:18 Jesus died for all
Therefore, as through one man’s offense judgment came
to ALL men, resulting in condemnation, even so through
one Man’s righteous act the free gift came to ALL men,
resulting in justification of life. Rom 5:18
17. Romans 8:31-34
31 What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us,
who can be against us?
• God did not spare His own Son – He was given for us.
• How can He not also give us freely all things?
• Who can bring a charge against God’s Children?
• God’s justification is already with us.
• Christ died and rose again,
• He sits at the right hand of God.
• It is HE who makes intercession for us.
God’s Eternal & Unbreakable Love
18. Romans 8:35-37
35. Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall
tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or
nakedness, or peril, or sword?
36. As it is written: “For Your sake we are killed all day long;
We are accounted as sheep for the slaughter” -- Ps 44:22
37. Yet in all things we are more than conquerors through
HIM who loved us.
God’s Eternal & Unbreakable Love
