Our initiatives at Environment Planning Group Limited have provided safe drinking water to over 1.25 lakh people across Western India since 1999 using community reverse osmosis plants. We operate these plants entrepreneurially with one-time capital expenses sponsorship and then covering ongoing operating expenses through water sales at 25 paise per liter. Recently we have partnered with Eureka Forbes Limited, a major water purifier manufacturer, to rapidly expand this model with their plant maintenance support in rural Gujarat and Rajasthan areas.

Presentation on csr backed community water ro initiative
1. We at Environment Planning Group Limited (EPGL) pioneered a model on Community RO Plants for affordable purified drinking water for masses
in 1999 and have since been putting up the plants across entire western India to reduce incidence of water borne diseases such as Diarrhea, Teeth
Decay, Pneumonia and Kidney Stone etc. We have, so far, impacted the lives of more than 1.25 lakh villagers by providing them not only health
benefits but also more local employment opportunities. Besides, our entrepreneurial initiatives have been working at ICICI Bank, Kotak Mahindra
Bank, Mudra Institute of Communication, ISRO, BSNL, et.al. for 5-9years.
Our CSR supported business model on community drinking water follows:
Our initiatives have received financial support from CSRs of Hindustan Zinc Ltd, Glaxo Smithkline, Moser Baer, etc. working in Gujarat, Rajasthan,
Delhi and Mumbai slums. We are now in rapid expansion mode with an active direct involvement of our partners Eureka Forbes Ltd (EFL), whose role
is to provide RO plants and their maintenance services including consumables. EFL-EPGL provide complete on-ground support in problem
identification and carrying it through to its logical solution with complete entrepreneurial responsibility.
We design, supply, install, operate and maintain a social initiative called Community RO purified safe drinking water on affordable terms in CSR
command villages of our client corporate projects. We approach respective village panchayats to obtain their demand and consent to provide space
and raw-water for our RO plants installation.
We seek a one time CAPEX sponsorship of Rs.3.50 lac from CSRs for an RO plant with UV facility suited to meet drinking water needs of 500-700
families, storage tanks, initial liaison with the panchayat, and an awareness campaign in the village. Our OPEX including power bills, operator's
salaries, plant supply and plant O&M are earned by a nominal selling price of water @25paise per liter (Rs.5per 20liter). We run the initiative as an
entrepreneurial entity on ground.
