We are the sum total of what we focus on in life. For some , that will be their career - for others it may be their passion in life like a hobby or talent... maybe even their children and their extra curricular activities.Sadly , for some it is excess and indulgence - addiction or self-destruction... Perhaps maybe we should consider the words of our creator when he said that " We were created for his Glory" (Isaiah 43:7) ... or " We are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them" (Ephesians 2:10) and that "We should focus our minds on things above" (Colossians 3:2)... May I suggest that we were created for more? ... Created for better things than wasting our lives in excess or being known as so and so's mom or dad to somehow re-live our glory days on the sports field?... There is nothing inherently wrong with many of the things I mentioned above (although excess, indulgence and addiction are a no brainer) - But the day will come when we will without a doubt answer for the time we were given and how we spent it... What will your answer be? (I'll give you a hint - Its where you put your FOCUS)Sharpening the focus

1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 concerning our perspective on "Being Grateful , When the World is Hateful". If you know me , then you know I that myself and many others spent this week at FC Alabama Camp , serving the cause of Christ and serving kids from 4th grade though 12th. Though , incredibly difficult and grueling at times - it is by far the most rewarding and spiritually uplifting experiences I have ever engaged in and I look forward to it every year. I look forward to it for many reasons , but mostly for a respite from the world and the ever seemingly downward spiral mankind is on... But not even this week - a week filled with Godly focus and spiritually driven purpose could I escape the horrors of this weeks shootings and outrage. In a time when I am usually able to escape the troubles of man's appetite for sin and its destruction , it found me and shame on me for letting it... Its hard to be grateful when the world is so hateful. Even more surprising was much of the backlash I received from a few who were bothered by the fact that I was bothered. I didnt want to hear of the tragic events unfolding this week , much less see videos spread depicting them... not this week , and though it is only a wish - not ever. But that is not reality... and in a moment of disgust and down heartedness - I ached. I ached for Heaven. I ached to be with my God . I want so bad to leave this place for the one to come and then , in that small moment I remembered that one day I will , for "He has promised , and I believe". My Hope was renewed and my Gratitude returned.Being grateful

We will be looking into the Old Testament book of Joshua chapter 3 for our lesson content to discuss the subject of " The Unknown" and more specifically the fear of it and ultimately how to face it. Isaiah 43:18-19 says “Remember not the former things, nor consider the things of old. 19 Behold, I AM DOING A NEW THING; now it springs forth, DO YOU NOT PERCEIVE IT? I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert. Often, "the old things": are the comfortable things , because they are the known things...But just because they are comfortable does not mean they are the good things. Fear of the unknown often will keep us from things that are better for us and in fact - sometimes the BEST things for us... But "DO WE PERCEIVE IT?" Christ can do a new thing with you , but you have to make a leap of faith into The Unknown!The unknown

This sermon will deal with Mercy, Justice and the simpleness of God's Grace that is often complicated by man. As a society that has become driven by "rights", we find ourselves among many who demand equity, equality, and rights to whatever our heart desires. The cry is often " We want what is fair - We want Justice"...We should be very, very careful, for what we demand… God may just grant us what we have demanded. I hope you can be with us tomorrow as we unpack a small portion of this topic to better acquaint ourselves with the Justice we deserve , but the Mercy we are granted and how that should motivate us to do accordingly.
