  1. Child marriage: any formal marriage or informal union in which at least one of the parties is under the age of 18. Girls Not Brides is the global partnership to end child marriage. We work collectively with our members to bring the issue of child marriage to global and national attention; we build an understanding of what it will take to end this harmful practice, and we call for laws, policies and programmes that will accelerate change. Our members are civil society organisations working at all levels to collectively achieve our vision: to end child marriage and enable girls to fulfil their potential.
  2. About NPs if needed: Diverse groups of Girls Not Brides members who believe in the power of collective action to end child marriage in their country. There are National Partnerships in 9 countries: Bangladesh, Ghana, Malawi, Mozambique, the Netherlands, Nepal, Uganda, United Kingdom and United States. NPs work with governments to develop, implement and monitor national strategies to end child marriage; they raise public awareness of child marriage; they share information and learnings to better tackle child marriage.
