• GAHP (Global Alliance on Health and Pollution) aims to
reduce death and illness caused by all forms of pollution, incl.
water, soil, air and chemical wastes, esp. in LMICs.
• HPAP is a national/regional pollution prioritization and action
planning process based on impacts to health.
o Collaborative effort (ministries/agencies, GAHP, others);
o Advancing specific recommendations and interventions;
o Designed to increase available resources and monitor
progress.

Notas del editor

  1. Diseases caused by pollution in 2015 approached 9.6 million people who died, 17% of the people who died in the world. In low and middle income countries (LMICs), pollution results in premature death (92%). Air pollution is the biggest cause of pollution-related diseases, where in 2015 approximately 6.4 million caused premature deaths, including 2.8 million household air pollution, 4.2 million due to ambient air pollution.
  2. Pollution causes various diseases and costs economically. In addition, pollution causes additional economic losses by increasing the quality of ecosystems and destroying the natural systems that humans need. The economic costs of pollution are enormous that are not visible because they are associated with hidden damage to organ functions such as decreased levels of intelligence (IQ) and chronic NCDs that occur after several years or decades after exposure and with loss of natural resources. These costs have no impact on the budget from the Ministry of Environment, cannot be calculated with economic standard indicators, so they cannot be calculated and are not related to pollution.
