Romania
in
2007

2. In 2007 Romania was not eligible for
development education projects with the
European Commission.
BUT….

3. EVENTS IN 2007:
On the 16th October, a national debate on development
cooperation and MDGs was organized.
The context was:
International Day for Poverty Eradication - October 17
A speech was given on the GCAP campaign and Stand Up
and Speak Out posters were put inside the conference
hall and at the receptioan and informational material was
given at the entrance to the participants.

4. EVENTS IN 2007
The Romanian MFA, in partnership with FOND,
participated at the European Development Days,
7-9th November in Lisbon. The Romanian stand
in the Development Village at the Lisbon
International Fair had as main objective to show
throughout a photo exhibition and printed
materials, its transition from a beneficiary state
to a responsible donor state.

5. FOND’S Development Education Working
Group
• May 28-29 Training on Development Education:
Alternatives, opportunities and instruments
• September 27 -28 - Advocacy and Awareness
Raising Resources for Development Education
(AARRDE). This was also the first preparatory
meeting for the DEEEP Summer school that will
be organized in Romania in 2009.

6. OTHER ACTIVITIES RUN BY THE DE WG:
Essay contest – Save the Children Romania
International Day for Poverty Eradication – street
manifestation, PATRIR
WG’s representatives participated at the 2007
DEEEP Summer School in Slovakia

7. WHAT WE WILL DO IN 2008?
- eligible for the European Commission for

currently writing proposals
- Other funding opportunities for
development education projects: UNDP
Romania and Presidency FUND
- Full support from our MFA to run
awareness raising campaigns nationwide
