New in EP4: The Capture portfolio has two products with updates this release; Captiva and Capture Center. We have invested across four major areas to increase the value to our customers for OpenText’s capture portfolio and ensure that each of these products provide a true Intelligent Capture option. These four pillars are: Capture Anywhere– We continue expand the ways that information-of any kind- is collected appropriately and securely. For both Captiva and Capture Center, we have invested in simplifying the user experience for Capture users both remote and mobile. This talk is about building Audi's big data platform from a first Hadoop PoC to a multi-tenant enterprise platform. Why a big data platform at all? We explain the requirements that drove the development of this platform and explain the decisions we had to make during this journey. During the process of setting up our big data infrastructure, we often had to find the right balance between going for enterprise integration versus speed. For instance, whether to use the existing Active Directory for both LDAP and KDC versus setting up our own KDC. Using a shared enterprise service like Active Directory requires to follow certain naming conventions and restricted access, where running our own KDC brings much more flexibility but also adds another component to maintain to our platform. We show the advantages and disadvantages and explain why we've decided to choose a certain approach. For data ingestion of both batch and streaming data, we use Apache Kafka. We explain why we installed a separate Kafka cluster from our Hadoop platform. We discuss the pros and cons of using the Kafka binary protocol and the HTTP REST protocol not only from a technical perspective but also from the organisational perspective as the source systems are required to push data into Kafka. We give an overview of our current architecture including how some use cases are implemented on it. Some of them run exclusively on our new big data stack, while others use it in conjunction with our data warehouse. The use cases cover all different kinds of data from sensory data of robots in our plants to click streams from web applications. Building an enterprise platform does not only consist of technical tasks but also of organizational tasks: data ownership, authorization to access certain data sets, or more financial ones like internal pricing and SLAs. Although we have already achieved quite a lot, our journey has not yet ended. There are still some open topics to address, like providing a unified logging solution for applications spanning multiple platforms. Or finally offering a notebook-like Zeppelin to our analysts. Or addressing legal issues like GDPR. We will conclude our talk with a short glimpse into our ongoing extension of our on-premises platform into a hybrid cloud platform. Be it a Z mainframe, DB2, Oracle or other database, there exists a need for Kafka consumer applications to understand the transactional context and operation ordering of the original source database’s transactions. The solution will focus on how to layer the guarantees of a relational database with respect to ACID transaction properties over Kafka and provide them to an end consumer. Challenges to be discussed include: -How to maintain Kafka’s performance while providing greatly improved semantic guarantees -How to address the simultaneous need to maintain topic per database table representations in Kafka and yet provide the Kafka consumer the order of operations within a transaction that apply to any number of topics -A demonstration of how a source database’s referential integrity-constrained tables can have their operational data replicated through Kafka and ultimately applied to another database with the same constraints -Mechanisms for consumer applications to leverage this new functionality to process consumed transactions exactly once -How to handle outages in the middle of replication and ensure semantic guarantees are maintained from the consumer’s perspective The talk will include a demonstration of transactionally consistent, ordered, database replication leveraging a source database, IBM IIDR CDC Replication to Message Hub in the cloud, and resultant consumer output.

A Solution for Leveraging Kafka to Provide End-to-End ACID Transactions

Using Kafka to stream data into TigerGraph, a distributed graph database, is a common pattern in our customers’ data architecture. We have seen the integration in three different layers around TigerGraph’s data flow architecture, and many key use case areas such as customer 360, entity resolution, fraud detection, machine learning, and recommendation engine. Firstly, TigerGraph’s internal data ingestion architecture relies on Kafka as an internal component. Secondly, TigerGraph has a builtin Kafka Loader, which can connect directly with an external Kafka cluster for data streaming. Thirdly, users can use an external Kafka cluster to connect other cloud data sources to TigerGraph cloud database solutions through the built-in Kafka Loader feature. In this session, we will present the high-level architecture in three different approaches and demo the data streaming process.

It combines memory safety and concurrency to create an independent, modular, and embeddable rendering engine that adheres to web standards. Stewardship of Servo moved from Mozilla Research to the Linux Foundation in 2020, where its mission remains unchanged. After some slow years, in 2023 there has been renewed activity on the project, with a roadmap now focused on improving the engine’s CSS 2 conformance, exploring Android support, and making Servo a practical embeddable rendering engine.
