How to Start Getting Traffic to Your Blog from Day 1
Do you Know? Reading this Post will take around 5 minutes...
Are you starting a new blog? Getting traffic to your blog is going to be biggest challenge along your journey. I will tell
you 4 easy tricks to get the wheel rolling.
If you are going to start your first blog and don’t have a an existing email list or established social media profiles, that
you might have built somewhere else, then you are definitely going to have hard time getting real traffic to your blog.
It becomes fairly easy as you regularly post quality content and start building relationships with peers. You’ll have to
force your way out of this immensely crowded online world.
Don’t be disappointed!
Every successful blogger was once a beginner.
There are numerous guides available to build audience and permanent stream of traffic. I recently came across a very
nice post by Satrap of BlogStash.com who listed 65 ways to drive traffic to your blog.
Leave all the tips and guides aside and start following these 4 tips and you will have real traffic to your blog right from
the start.

Forum Posting
Compile a list of forums relevant to your niche. There are dozens of forums in every possible niche but one cannot
contribute to all and neither it is required. If you can contribute to 2 to 3 high traffic forums regularly then it is more
than enough.
It is not the number of forums you participate or contribute rather its the traffic volume and relevancy of
those forums that will make all the difference.
I will guide you how you can finalize a list of best performing forums in you niche. The workflow I am going to list down
will save you lot of time so follow carefully.
1) Create an Excel Spreadsheet
Create a new spreadsheet and format it like this.
2. Now you will have to find relevant forums. While entering a forum name and URL you should fill in its PageRank(PR)
and Alexa Traffic Rank because these are going to be main factors for finalization of your list. If you don’t know how to
check PR and Alexa rank of a blog or forum then you must read about How to check PageRank and Alexa Rank of a
Blog or Forum.
2) Search for Forums
Go to Google and try one or more of following queries. Lets consider that I am searching for forums in ‘marketing’
niche. You can replace the word ‘marketing’ with your niche.

3. You see there are dozens of quality articles listing forums in every niche. After browsing through various lists, I
compiled my list. I could have made a huge list but for your learning I have just entered 4 real forums and some
sample data in my spreadsheet, however, you should make a list of at least 20 relevant forums.
4. 3) Sort the Data
Now its time to use inbuilt features of excel to sort the data. Follow instructions in screenshot below.
It will sort the forums with respect to their Alexa Ranks with smallest on top. Just to mention, Alexa Rank is the
measure of traffic a website/forum receives. Smaller the rank, better would be the traffic.
Facebook has an Alexa Rank of 2 which means it is the 2nd most visited website in the world. In short, you should
select the forum with minimum Alexa Rank.
Here is how it would look like after sorting.
5. Sorting the Alexa Rank column in smallest to highest will bring best forums on top. As far as the forums are
concerned, you should only focus on its traffic rank. PageRank is not that important. Although all high traffic forums
will otherwise have a good PageRank.
In this way you can finalize a list of 2 to 3 forums where you should regularly post. Selecting the right forums is the
most important aspect otherwise all your effort will be wasted. There is no fun in making tons of posts in a forum
which hardly gets any traffic!
Download sample spreadsheet used above for your ease.
Commenting on other blogs in your niche is the best way to fetch free traffic. Although, you get very less traffic from
comments and at times, you may not got any traffic at all. But it is still worth doing.
Commenting on other blogs helps you make meaningful relationships which you can utilize in future. Making
relationships with fellow bloggers will also make it easier for you to post on their blogs as a guest.
You’ll have to create a list of blogs in your niche using the same procedure which we adopted for forums.
Participate on Reddit
Reddit gets more than 150 Million Pageviews every month and there is a huge potential to get some real traffic to
your blog. All you have to do is indulge in discussion.
You can start by simply signing up on Reddit. Lot has been already written on getting traffic from Reddit so instead of
re-inventing the wheel, I would like to share few in-depth articles which you can go through to master the art of getting
traffic from Reddit.
When I published my first post, I immediately shared it on Reddit and got around 156 visitors within next two days. For
me, 156 was a big figure with a two days old blog.
Make sure that you should not only promote your own content. It should be in 9:1 ratio, which means that for every 1
6. link to your blog you should leave at least 9 useful comments on other people’s posts. It will help you become a
respected Reddit member.
Get Traffic from GROWTRAFFIC.COM
Generally speaking, most of traffic generation tools are spam and do nothing except sending bots to your blog. But
GROWTRAFFIC is an exception.
I was lucky to come across it before I launched my blog.
I spent around $50 and the result were amazing. I got around 23000 visitors in 30 days.
Though it is not a FREE solution but the traffic I got was real and it actually engaged with my content. I got a steady
increase in daily signups. Results were almost similar as you will get from an Adwords campaign. The good part is
that GROWTRAFFIC is way more economical than Adwords.
Though there is no comparison of Adwords with any other platform because of the advanced targeting options it
provides, however, GROWTRAFFIC is also worth trying.
It is not a review, rather it is just my personal experience. The traffic I received from GROWTRAFFIC made a
considerable difference in my initial days.
Update:
Stay away from GROWTRAFFIC.COM. It is a total scam. I received good traffic for the first few days but then they
started sending bots to my site. Now, not even a single visitor is a real one. No comments and no engagement.
Here is a screenshot of referral traffic.
7. All the traffic is from these strange sources. Keep everything aside, the point is, the traffic is not real in any case.
I would advise you to stay away from this useless service. Spend less but spend on Adwords.
Conclusion
You will have to start from somewhere. Stop procrastinating and start working. The more you engage with other
people on the web the more traffic you will get.
It is just a matter of few weeks of effort and you will start seeing the numbers climbing.
Let me know what about your experiences and how is everything going on for you. I will be happy to respond to your
questions.
