It provides examples of implementing wisdom during Muhammad's prophethood and discusses the model from an Islamic perspective.
2. WHAT IS WISDOM MANAGEMENT?
WM IS A METHOD OF IMPLEMENTING WISDOM IN SELF AND
ORGANISATIONS (“ENVIRONMENT”).
WM IS A JOURNEY.
THE GOAL OF IMPLEMENTING WISDOM IN SELF, ORGANISATIONS -

(“BETTERMENT”).
FOR WISDOM TO BE IMPLEMENTED WELL IN THOSE ENVIRONMENTS,
THERE ARE 2 PIVOTAL ELEMENTS TO CONSIDER:

WISE LEADERSHIP IS A START….
• BUT IT IS NOT ENOUGH TO HAVE IMPACTFUL “BETTERMENT”
FOR ORGANISATIONS.
• WISDOM OF THE CROWD IS ALSO NECESSARY.

FROM AN ISLAMIC PERSPECTIVE
• Knowledge and wisdom are tightly-coupled in the Holy Quran.
• Wisdom was given by Allah swt to many prophets such as Sulaiman, Daud, Yusof,
Musa, and Isa. However, wisdom was given to and taught by Prophet Muhammad
ﷺ to sahabahs.
• The Prophet ﷺ himself an illiterate, provide equal emphasis on both knowledge
and wisdom.
• Wisdom taught by the Prophet ﷺ was a practical one.
• Output for both are usually stronger faith and good deeds done the best way
possible (‘Ihsana’).
• Managing wisdom in Islam starts by understanding the context and according
highest reverence to the Holy Quran. It also requires deeper understanding the
practices and sayings of the Prophet ﷺ including those which may seem
contradictory at first sight.
• The Prophet ﷺ managed and taught wisdom by engagement and action, not mere
sayings.

A FEW EXAMPLES OF WISDOM DURING
MUHAMMAD ’ﷺS PROPHETHOOD
• How the Prophet ﷺ handled the mistreatment of Taif people against his call
towards Islam.
• Offer by the Angel Jibril to crush Taif replaced with a supplement (doa).
• How the Prophet ﷺ handled the growing mistreatment by the Quraisy in
Mekah by making a hijrah (migration) to Madinah with the believers/ sahabahs.
• Acceptance by the Ansar (Helpers) in Madinah pre-empted.
• Events leading towards the treaty of Hudaybiyah and Fath Mekah.
• Anger of sahabahs curbed / victory deferred.
• The way a zina (adultery) case confessed by a woman was handled.
• Hudud deferred.
• The instance of a Bedouin who urinated inside the Prophet’s masjid
• Anger of sahabahs curbed.
• … and many more examples.
