2. Acts 2:1-4
Coming of the Holy Spirit
2 When the Day of Pentecost had
fully come, they were all with one
accord in one place. 2 And
suddenly there came a sound from
heaven, as of a rushing mighty
wind, and it filled the whole house
where they were sitting.
3. 3 Then there appeared to them
divided tongues, as of fire, and one
sat upon each of them. 4 And they
were all filled with the Holy Spirit
and began to speak with other
tongues, as the Spirit gave them
utterance.
4. 3 Then there appeared to them
divided tongues, as of fire, and one
sat upon each of them. 4 And they
were all filled with the Holy Spirit
and began to speak with other
tongues, as the Spirit gave them
utterance.
6. “The way to approach this, it seems to me, is to remind
ourselves that the Holy Spirit is a Person. The Holy Spirit
is not just an influence. So many seem to talk about
being filled with the Spirit as if the Holy Spirit were some
kind of liquid. They talk about having an ‘empty vessel’,
an empty jug, and having the Spirit poured in. That is
entirely wrong because it forgets that the Holy Spirit is a
Person. He is not a substance, not a liquid, and not a
power like electricity. We all tend to fall into this error.
We even tend to refer to the Holy Spirit as ‘it’, forgetting
that the Holy Spirit is the third Person in the blessed
Holy Trinity.”

you shall not fulfill the lust of the
flesh. 17 For the flesh lusts against the
Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh;
and these are contrary to one
another, so that you do not do the
things that you wish. NKJV
58. 1 Corinthians 14:18-19

more than you all; 19 yet in the church
I would rather speak five words with
my understanding, that I may teach

in a tongue. NKJV
59. WHEN YOU ARE DRUNK, YOU
ARE UNDER THE INFLUENCE.
60. Ephesians 5:15-18
15 See then that you walk
circumspectly, not as fools but as
wise, 16 redeeming the time, because
the days are evil.
17 Therefore do not be unwise, but
understand what the will of the
Lord is. 18 And do not be drunk with
wine, in which is dissipation; but be
filled with the Spirit,
61. When a man is filled with the Spirit, he
is under the influence of the Spirit.
62. C. S. Lewis pointed out, “…you can
understand the nature of drunkenness
when you are sober, not when you are
drunk…”
63. But when we are under the influence of
the Holy Spirit, that is when we best
understand the nature of the Spirit
