4. What is the
Octalysis Certificate?
The Octalysis Certificate is the official badge of honor by Yu-kai Chou and
his team to validate a certain individual has the proper understanding and
skills of wielding the Octalysis Framework.
Instead of just taking an easy multiple-choice quiz like many other
certificates (sometimes after a $1,000+ payment), the Octalysis Certificate
is earned by submitting free form designs and analysis powered by the 8
Core Drives of Octalysis. This is the type of work and discipline that true
experts and designers use in real projects to improve the world.
The Octalysis Certificate is not meant to be quick nor easy. It is meant to be
rare and prestigious. Holders of the Certificate truly will have skill levels
above those who don’t have it. Yu-kai’s consulting company The Octalysis
Group itself regularly reviews those with the Certificate to hire as
consultants and designers.

8. What Certificate Holders
Are Saying
“The Octalysis Framework is a highly respected and widely recognized
design framework. I knew that getting the certification would help me
grow as an individual and is something I am proud to put on my LinkedIn.”
- Mike Finney, FinneyCanHelp.com
“I wanted to see if it could help me think differently about the levers we
could pull to drive better use engagement across the experience. It helped
confirm what I already knew - we had a lot of work to do.
- Jonathan Palay, CommercialTribe.com
You don’t really know something until you demonstrate to yourself that
you can usefully apply it. Intellectual understanding is nice, but using
your hands to design is better. That’s why I got my Octalysis certificate.
