My name is Fearghal McGlinchey and I am 18 years old. I am studying A2 media
studies at Haydon School in Pinner.
I have been asked to create a music video using an existing song, for my media
studies coursework. I am asking permission to use the song ‘Scars’ by James Bay in
my music video, I have chosen this song because I feel I would be able to bring out a
lot of emotion within the video due to my actor being able to relate to the song a lot,
my music video will do nothing but benefit/promote the song. I will take no credit
for the song as all of it will go to James Bay.
I would appreciate it if you could please respond to this email allowing me
permission to use the song for my coursework.

The record company that I would contact is Republic Records.
This is the email that I sent to Republic Records which is the record label that James
Bay is signed to. In the email I ask permission to use the song ‘Scars’ for the music
video I will be creating. I have briefly explained who I am, what song I would like
consent to have and why I would like to use the song.
