2. Digital Natives
• Also called D-gen or N-gen;
• Students who were born surrounded by technology;
• The way they process information is completely
different from their predecessors.
3. Digital Natives - Accent
Examples of the accent of digital natives:
•Technological vocabulary
Able to learn by watching TV, listening to music and

playing games
• Preference to online texts than to printed ones
4. Digital immigrants
• Not born surrounded by technology but had and
still have access to it;
5. Digital immigrants - Accent
Examples of the accent of digital immigrants:
• Printing out their e-mail
• Printing documents
• Phone call to check if the person received the e-mail
6. What is the solution?
Digital natives go
backwards or digital
immigrants go forward?
7. The solution is:
• As digital natives already have a different brain
structure, going backwards became impossible.
• This way, the solution is adapting the content of
traditional subjects to the environment digital
natives are used to, in other words, it is necessary to
“translate” the material we have to our new
generation of students.
