The template is to be used as guidance when prioritizing initiatives/projects:
The main objective of this template is to explain how to create a consistent opportunity prioritization matrix, to help prioritize the improvement options towards the end of the diagnose phase of a project.
This template can also be used to support client discussions, providing a range of content that can be selected and tailored based on the situation.

Complexity chart introduction – alternative 1
› This complexity chart is used to prioritize client projects after a current state analysis has been performed. Projects are
derived by first identifying client improvements in the main processes.
› There are four main areas of the complexity chart: Proceed now, Long term, Implement and Hold. By evaluating
client projects on complexity and benefit, the chart allows the project team to classify the projects into one of the four
main categories. For example, an initiative that is of low complexity and high benefit is considered an Implement.
› Initiatives that fall into the Implement category are considered to be
easy to implement and a low level of opportunity improvement. Project
teams look to implement these initiatives first as they are usually a
process change in an existing business practice.
› Initiatives that fall into the Proceed now category are considered to be
high level of opportunity improvement and easy to implement. These
initiatives return a greater change than a Quick Fix and require a similar
amount of effort.
› Initiatives that fall into the Long term category are considered not to be
easy to implement and high level of opportunity improvement. These
initiatives require more time, effort and investment to solve. They may
involve implementing new technology or introducing a new
organization-wide process.
› Initiatives that lay in the Hold category are considered to be easy to
implement but are a low level of opportunity improvement. Initiatives in
this category are as they are not worth the investment required.
