17. Study Abroad Program
FIC offers a one semester (4 month) Study Abroad Program for
students who are interested in a short-term international academic
experience. Students in the FIC Study Abroad Program have full
access to all of the Simon Fraser University facilities and services
including on-campus accommodation, libraries, computer labs,
recreation facilities, and career services.
Upon successful completion of the Study Abroad Program
students have the option to continue to complete the full FIC Pre-
university program (UTP I) or University-Level program (UTP II).
Students who successfully complete the UTP II program and
who have the appropriate GPA, are eligible to transfer to Year
2 of Simon Fraser University’s bachelor degree programs with
advanced standing status of up to 60 credit hours.

Entry into UTP Stage II programs generally requires the successful completion of Year 12 or
equivalent. Entry into the UTP Stage I program generally requires the successful completion of Year
11 equivalent outside of Canada. Specific academic requirements are listed on pages 16 and 17. Not
all qualifications are listed, therefore, if you have other qualifications, please send details to FIC for
assessment. If you have completed Year 12 or equivalent but your results do not qualify you for entry
into UTP Stage II, you may be admitted to UTP Stage I.
