- IntroductionToday we’re going to talk about the resources here at KCC that can you with this class and all your classes. Have you seen the Old Spice Commercials? This is called New Spice . . .
- o today I’m going to talk to you about your library. We won’t let you eat that kind of dripping loaded sub (covered drinks and dry snacks only please ;) But we do have bucketloads of databases and lots of other ways to help you out.
- We are called the Emory W. Morris Learning Resource Center. But have any of you heard any other names? Who has been to the library? Do you know where we are?
- Who has been to the library? Who knows where we are? What are we called: Emory W. Morris Learning Resource Center OR Learning Resource Center OR LRC or the Library. We’re also available online—let me show you how to find us through the website: {show website} In fact everything I show you today you can get access to at home, or anywhere you have an internet connection. When you get into the databases you’ll have to prove you are a KCC student (we pay a lot of money for those databases). This is what the screen will look like: {CLICK}

- We have books—actually a very nice children’s collection. But unless you are taking children’s literature or early childhood classes you will probably need to look for books on our 2nd floor or in the moveable shelves on our first page.All our books can be found through our online catalog—but if we don’t have it you can order through another library and have it delivered—FREE of charge!!!
- We have 4 floors100 computers12 study roomsLaptopsAnd lots more.You need your KCC ID card to use the library.
- Why do they matter? Having good research skills is important beyond your college life. If you are shopping for a new car or new refrigerator or planning a family vacation—having good research skills can save you money and assure that you get the best value for your money. If you are looking for a job researching the company and industry you are applying for can help you shine as a candidate. And if you or a family member is diagnosed with a chronic medical condition—good research can assure the best medical treatment.And of course there’s school—good research skills can help you get a better grade, but more importantly it can save you a ton of time and headaches. So let’s talk about the Research Process--
