• One of the first things a team or individual must do when taking on innovation is to clarify what "innovation" means and how it will be successfully delivered. Define innovation in the context of your effort. Since it means different things to different people, a common working definition is critical. In some cases, "innovation" can be a negatively charged term, in which case the IT innovation team should use a different term. A broad definition is generally best at the outset to accommodate future changes in scope or direction. Gartner's definition is: "Innovation is the execution of new ideas that create business value." The remainder
• Fujitsu provides the ‘wrapper’ for the vision with our approach to Technology Enablement and Service Enablement. These concepts are about how we realise this vision and what makes Fujitsu’s approach unique.
• Data center on a chip As Moore’s law continues to hold, building servers on a chip will soon be a reality and will have the potential to revolutionize current infrastructure models and bring massive gains in computing and energy efficiency. Sensors and sensor networks By gathering real-time information on every conceivable variable to monitor conditions and react automatically, interlinked sensors will play a big part in making systems (and systems of systems) more efficient. Internet of things Everyday items will become addressable over a public network: your car, your fridge, even your medical prescriptions. That will give us even greater knowledge and control over ourselves and the world around us, recording, informing, responding, tuning and pre-empting. Tactile interfaces and hapticsSystems will be capable of providing feedback to us via touch. Semantic Web A computer on its own cannot read and understand a Web page. The concept of a Semantic Web envisions a world in which machines not only find the dots, but also connect them. They won’t just provide information for us to analyze, they will be equipped to initiate action on what they find.Wireless energy We saw what happened when we cut the cords off our telephones. What will happen if we cut the cords off a myriad of other devices? Supplying power without cables has long been a dream. It is now becoming part of everyday life.Augmented reality Augmented reality uses computers to project a layer of graphics or information on top of physical environments. This technology is being used for applications ranging from automotive navigation displays, to computer-enabled weapons and surgery assistance systems
