Takao Funami is the chief engineer at Media Technology Labs, part of Recruit co., LTD. He discusses how his lab uses Amazon Web Services (AWS) for various projects. They use EC2 for development environments, S3 for batch processing and file storage, and non-standard OS's on EC2 instances. One project called Air Yakiniku, a Flash video game, was hosted on S3 and distributed through CloudFront. Funami hopes that AWS improves EC2 performance and opens a region in Japan.
